Match play is quite an arduous event. Every player plays three matches at least. The winner advances to the elimination round, and the top four will end up playing seven matches. That is a lot more golf than a usual event. It doesn't surprise me that some players would rather preserve their strength.

Interesting first round match ups:
Jeong Mee Hwang vs. Se Lin Hyun
Shin Sil Bang vs. Ayean Cho
Jung Min Lee vs. Han Sol Ji
Min Byeol Kim vs. Jeongmin Moon
Su Ji Kim vs. Ina Yoon -- youch! I feel like the winner of this match will advance in the end.
The theory is that players who make a lot of birdies have an advantage in match play. We'll see. Bang and Yoon are the top two birdie makers on tour and they play best when they can be aggressive, which match play allows. We'll see how much that helps them this week.

2. Yewon Lee won 1 up over Do Eun Park
Jung Min Lee wins 6 & 5 over Han Sol Ji
(Do Eun Park hung in surprisingly tough but Yewon still eked out the win).

Hee Jeong Lim tied Min Kyung Choi
(I saw some of this. Ina didn't let up for a minute).
