Round 1 Great day today for Sei Young and Hae Ran. Sei Young has a tendency to be really up and down, so we have to see how she does tomorrow before getting too excited. Amy is also in the top ten, and she really needs a strong week to cement her invite to the Olympics. A win would really help. Both Six and Five got airtime today, with Five claiming the honors over Six. None of the three Korean rookies played all that well, but Yu Jin slightly beat Jin Hee and So Mi. Jin Young had a fairly placid day; she's going to have to pick up the pace if she wants to be a factor. Hwaiting!

I didn't see the interview, but I was told that Charlie Hull was being praised for the number of consecutive months in Rolex top ten. I think it was 37 months. Now why don't they run over and talk to Jin Young about how long she has been in the Rolex top ten. I didn't see or hear everything because my wife insisted on putting on the NFL draft (American football, not futbรณl mundial for international members of Seoul Sisters). I think that I did see Charley (E) being interviewed, and they spent quite a bit of time with Rose (-2). I think Amy Yang (-4) was in the broadcast window but I did not see her interviewed or even on the broadcast in action. Maybe I missed it. They did show Jeongeun Lee5 (-2) sink one putt on the broadcast but no interview even though she had the same score as Rose. If Rose had finished plus+6, I believe they would have interviewed her just to ask why she had such a bad day...
And yes, when they interviewed Sei Young, that was vindication! They can't ignore the sisters when they do well... but she had to finish four strokes ahead of Rose to get an interview.

If Nelly Korda wins the Founders in two weeks, I will give her credit for a unique accomplishment. She will deserve the credit for doing something that had never been done before. (We don't have a strong or meaningful subjunctive verb form in English, I'm describing a hypothetical situation that may or may not happen. I know how to say the meaning in Spanish or French but English cannot express it. I have no idea how to say it in Korean.) But Nelly will get 100 times the publicity that someone like Jin Young or Sei Young would have gotten for the same accomplishment. I hope that I live long enough to see one of the young sisters break Nelly's record...

Every time I see Sei Young have a strong round, I imagine that Covid hasn't happened yet, it's 2019 and Sei Young and Jin Young are dominating the tour. I imagine that it's the 2015 Lotte. WE WILL NEVER FORGET IT!
Both Six and Five got airtime today. I missed some of the broadcast so I did not see Six. Looking at her score maybe it's better that I missed her today; hope that she has a strong 2nd round on Friday. I did see the broadcast showing Five sink a putt. When Rose Zhang finished at minus-2, GC interviewed her. Five also finished at minus-2 but no interview. Maybe they thought that she couldn't speak English and didn't have a translator ready. Or maybe they just figured no one cared about a sister...

Another baseball player who hit two doubles in the last two innings .... it must have been those late-day bump azz poa greens ... yeah, that's the story and I'm sticking to it.

Amy Yin playing well 18majors
If LC, Awesome Kim, and Yealimi aren't on the Solheim team I won't be watching and we will probably lose again.
Jenny Shin ate her Wheaties today.
GC will be saved since beloved Rose is playing well and Nelly is off.
Finally ex Longhorn Kaitlyn Papp Budde is showing signs of life - she was low AM at the US Open when A Lim won but has been injured a bit since.

Amy had a wild front nine: three birdies, a bogey and two doubles. She's still at 2 under, so hopefully she can right the ship on her back nine.
Jin Young so far kind of mediocre, but had a one under front nine. If she can turn on the jets a little in the next nine she can still put herself in position for the weekend. So far we haven't seen vintage JY Ko, though.
Hwaiting!

Thank goodness Zhang is moving up the leaderboard. I was worried for a minute that the commentators wouldn't have an American to entirely focus on this week. Whew, dodged that bullet!

Phew ... MHL birdied #7 and #8 ... even if she plays baseball on her last hole at #9, I think she'll make the cut.
********
Speaking of baseball, Bailey Two put herself on waivers from the Dodgers ... she better start stretching what's left of that $330K ... check out Aldi, they have decent prices on the basics.

Jin Young had a decent day, 4 birdies, one bogey. Nothing great, but good enough to move her into the top 20.
Sei Young caught up back to 6 under, then made a double on her final hole. Ouch. Must have been a..... barranca!

What is going on with DK? I can't recall if she is still dealing with old injuries ... I'm guessing no. Her 72.3 CME Points is the most misleading stat of 2024. Except for her T-20 in Thailand, she is playing like garbage. I can't blame her for dropping down to the minor leagues in Korea next month.
********
The caddie list has a blank name next to YJS ... doing okay on her first 8 holes on Friday and is -1 overall ... at least until the broccoli greens kick in later.

Are we in LA or queensLAnd ?
Grace (1), Hannah (t3), KD (t10), Kemp (t15)
Meanwhile Annie is only 2 back of the lead in Epsonland .. after 5 holes ๐ Just needs to dodge all the Taiwanese landmines.

Auston just jarred an ace on the 18th. Nice job!
Hae Ran seems a bit up and down right now. One of her bogies was a hole where every shot was just a little sloppy and it added up to a bogey. Meanwhile, Grace is on such a roll. Hopefully she'll cool down on the weekend and give the Sisters some kind of chance at this one.
