Tee times are set. Ha Na Jang, Lydia and Minjgee in the super group. How good is that? Should be a lot of players we don't usually see this week. edit: I guess Happy mentioned that already. Everybody is excited. www.lpga.com/leaderboard

Don...do you live nearby a LPGA?
3, No. Senior men's. Midwest. Driving to chicago this summer for sure. I really want to get to 1 more this year though. I think my top 2 would be US Open and the PGA but those are bad dates. Maybe the smaller the event the better for good views though. Maybe Portland.

TV coverage of the event on Australia's public broadcaster ABC and live stream (might be geoblocked here in deference to The Golf Channel and Golf Live Extra) on www.womensausopen.com/live-stream so expect that level of coverage on JTBC Golf as well:Thursday and Friday 2:30-5:30pm Adelaide time (Wednesday and Thursday 11pm-2amEST/8-11pmPST) Saturday and Sunday 12:30-5:30pm (Friday and Saturday 9pm-2amEST/6-11pmPST) Kevin

Poor Brooke, I'm sure she is thrilled about being paired with a couple of fossils. Maybe she is the only tour member certified in CPR.

I think my top 2 would be US Open and the PGA but those are bad dates. Maybe the smaller the event the better for good views though. Maybe Portland. The LPGA events generally aren't well attended....watching play is rarely an issue....but you do want to attend events with a crowd...much more fun. I've never had an issue getting my pic taken along side of all the great players....the LPGA pros are very accessible.....especially on practice days. Hmmmm.....seems like you're in no man's land for golf events. Go to the Solheim next year in Des Moines. I think this year's USWO will be lame with minimal galleries. I say attend the KPMG...Seattle is a great city and Sahalee will blow your socks off.....the gals have never played on a tighter golf course....I chin wagged with the guy who helps run all the KPMG Women's Championships for 20 minutes at our golf show last Saturday. After Seattle....it's in Chicago for 2 years.....Olympia Fields and Kemper Lakes....so much for the Merican lies (PGA of America) that this event might be hosted at global venues. Come to Seattle and we can embarrass ourselves and fanboy Dumbo. Portland is a really good event. When Safeway sponsored it it was AMAZING....Happy and Vern have attended many and they will attest. Safeway use to have a huge pavilion at the entrance with free samples amd a tent called the 19th Hole where they invited many wineries, breweries and other suppliers to showcase their product....you obtained a card for 6 free samplings and could exit and then re-enter and get another card, etc, etc. Safeway also ran free or discounted ticket promos. What I like about Portland include: Columbia Edgewater is a classic parkland private track...easy to walk...and great viewing spots. It's right by the airport....so there are many nice hotel choices.....you see lots of planes flying along with fighter jets (Air Force or Naval base nearby) The parking lot is adjacent to the course....a $5 donation to the Boy's & Girl's Club who run the lot. A slum hole bar called The Sextant is nearby...it's a great place...right on the Columbia River.....you'll see many caddies there along with low level pros...though I've seen Karrie, Sarah Kemp, Lindsey Wright, Sophie G in there too...many are approachable.....but don't expect to see any Yank diva's or Koreans there. BEST of all....NO SALES TAX in Oregon.

Jan Stephenson must be freaking out....3 Koreans Monday qualified in her home country Open. This reminds me of segregation in the old days..."No white people allowed"

2016 LPGA season gets rolling from this week; Australia, Thailand and Singapore. The game gets very serious in a hurry.

I watched a little bit of Soobin Kim at Seaview and Westchester last year...I'll have to upgrade her to my must-see list. Setting a course record (63) was impressive considering this is her first real tournament in over five months. Maybe I'm wrong, but unless she wins here, she'll be shut out of Thailand and Singapore...meaning she'd have to wait another four weeks to play her next LPGA event, the JTBC Founders Cup. w/ coach Brian Jung

Round 1: Great job by former Washington Husky Soo Bin Kim! She showed the occasional flash last year, but shooting a course record is a big step up from all that. I would be amazed if she is a serious threat to win, but a top ten is doable, and I'm pulling for her to do it. The Korean ams and newly pro made a statement. Hye Jin Choi, coming off a top five last week in New Zealand, shot a 67 to put herself into the hunt again. So Young Lee, who won the Junior Olympic Gold Medal last year, is now a pro; I wonder if she will be a KLPGA rookie? In any event, she already has at least one top 20 on the LPGA at the Lotte, so she has some serious game. Then there's Eun Jeong Seong, who won the US Girls Junior last year. With a 69, she's also right there. Also want to give a shout out to a couple of rookies that can use some momentum. Su Oh shot a 69 in her home country, and Annie Park a 70. Go ladies! Among the big names, nice start by Ha Na Jang, Minjee Lee and Lydia, who all basically shot the same thing in the same group together and are all in contention. Jiyai Shin also shot a 70. And I notice Min Seo Kwak at 3 under continuing her impressive start to the year. Go Sisters!!!!

7 birds from Caroline Masson. I was watching the last round of the Solheim recently. Pretty crazy events on 18 with her having a putt to win before Gerina made her putt. Gerina was the "cluth" hero but the reality was she did everything to throw the match away in the clutch on 17 and 18, missing the green both times.
Felt bad for Masson missing her putt so she'll be on my favorite list for a while.
Putt, great info on those events. Thank you. Solheim is a for sure. I might even pull for the USA since the core of the team is acting like adults representing their country, finally.

SooBin Kim shot -9; and on a different tour, Jordan Spieth shot +8. Golf is hard!

The men's telecast mentioned Spieth's instructor is in LA. SYR is likely getting some last minute instruction. I hope he doesn't turn her into a creep and absolute bore like Jordan.
