Great Tournament by the veteran Dynamic Duo Haeji Kang and In Kyung Kim. Tied for third place and stayed close to the lead to keep the Golf Chanel from dropping them from the Broadcast. Their ball striking was off down the stretch; however, they made clutch par putts.
A shout to A Lim Kim and Yealimi Noh minus eight to move up ten places to tie for eighth place. With a lot of other golfers including Jin Young Ko, Nasa Hataoka, Yu Jin Sung and Mao Saigo. However, a top ten is a top ten so I don't think anyone is complaining.
The only Korean team outside the top ten were Hae Ran and So Mi Lee but twenty-three tie not too bad.

With the walls closing in on them. Oh, I forgot to mention that In Kyung Kim and Haeji Kang seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.

They're considered a Top-15 finish because there're two players per team.

It was great to see Inky and Haeji, who never ever get on TV. Alas, they were struggling pretty much the entire broadcast. As soon as Inky missed the eagle I knew they were done; you just have to be setting yourself up for non-stop birdies to hang with the rest on the leaderboard, and they didn't have it in them the last few holes.
But this is the problem with this event: A Lim and Yealimi shot a 62 and made up no ground on the leaders. Just too many low scores out there. I think they showed a graphic that no team who was more than two shots back going into the final round has ever won here.
On the plus side, four teams with Sisters had top tens! Jin Young and Yu Jin's teams shot 64s (so did Hae Ran/So Mi, who didn't get a top ten). But Saigo and Hataoka basically carried their teams today alas. So not a lot of positive individual mojo for the Koreans overall despite good results. Ah well, we take what we can get I guess.

Also shout-out to Abe and Oboh for their top 10. They dusted off their playing partners AP and Jen today.
AP went from 999999 to 164 in the CME. Quite the jump!
Poor Gina Kim is DFL in 11 starts. AP is ahead of her after only 3.

Of course, they don't get money the same as they would get if only two are tied top ten. With nine golf pairings tied they combine the money of the nine places and split it...duh Any way you want to look at it the LPGA consider it a top ten.

This event is so weird. Saso, Boutier, Furue, all +4; Amy Yang +3. Meanwhile, Georgia Oboh and Lakareber Abe are beating them all. Who are these people? Are they LPGAers?Well, not a great start for Jin Young and Nasa, but hopefully they can right the ship tomorrow and make the cut at least. Inky and Haeji Kang are four back; Hae Ran and So Mi three back; A Lim and Yealimi two back. Those last two teams are probably tons of fun to watch; I hope we get a chance to see them tomorrow. Hwaiting! Also shout-out to Abe and Oboh for their top 10. They dusted off their playing partners AP and Jen today. AP went from 999999 to 164 in the CME. Quite the jump! Poor Gina Kim is DFL in 11 starts. AP is ahead of her after only 3. Thanks for the shout out for Oboh and Abe. Apparently Oboh pronounced like the musical instrument but Abe not pronounced like the president, Lincoln, I mean... the GC announcers must have been tipped off, they got the names right...
Oboh got invites to both of the Michigan tournaments (Meijer and Dow) apparently based upon winning the John Shippen Women's Invitational just prior to the Meijer, at the same location as the Meijer. There was also a John Shippen Men's Invitational just prior to this weekend's Rocket Mortgage PGA tournament in Detroit and the winner received an exemption to the Rocket Mortgage.
Oboh was born in Bury, UK, maybe bullfinch can tell us where that is, but she competes for Nigeria. At the Meijer a few weeks back, lpga.com apparently was not prepared with a flag image or logo for Nigeria. At least on my browser, it rendered as a small rectangle with the letters NGR inside. Reminded me of Guseva, the 'woman without a country.' But this week at the Dow, it did render a Nigerian flag for me... Neither have a photo on lpga.com, just the graphic that they use before they can find a photo, you know, the one that lpga.com used for Rose even after she won her LPGA debut tournament last year...
Congrats to Georgia and Lakareber (I have no idea how that is pronounced, GC seemed to refer to her by a nickname?) for tying the Giant Kims, the great Lexi and Brooke, Jin Young and Nasa, etc... Goose did beat them though, along with her partner Gigi Stoll, whoever that is...

Re: above note on Oboh and being born in Bury. Bury is a town just north of Manchester famous for its cotton mills back in Victorian times. It's now poor and impoverished. Seems like she may have grown up in north London with her parents playing golf in Hertfordshire. She's opted to play under the Nigerian flag but could easily have played under the English flag.
