I didn't see any sisters on the broadcast besides Gina Kim missing a birdie putt and Amy Yang/Jen Song missing the cut Team Finnlaysia going on a run, Gina/Hyo Joon look to be safe as well but still work to do (-5 thru 10) It looks like the cutline is moving to -7 or lower; it means every team who makes the cut has a chance to win!

Jin Young and Nasa are hwaiting hard. Nasa carried them on the front nine. They just BOTH made eagles on the par 5 third. That's put them at 6 under. Fingers crossed they can keep it up!
Inky and Haeji are at 8 under. Would love to see I.K. make it to the broadcast tomorrow.

Boutier made eight birdies in a row -- by herself. Her team is 11 under for the day.
Jin Young and Nasa have climbed to 8 under total. Pretty much it's been all Nasa today, but Jin Young did most of the work yesterday, so it evens out.

KT & Matilda vaulted up the leaderboard and finished at -10, just 2 shots off the lead. I guess the LPGA locked up the press tent by the time they finished because there's no presser posted. As Al Michaels would say, "Do you believe in miracles?" MIDLAND, MICHIGAN - JUNE 28: (L-R) Kelly Tan of Malaysia and Matilda Castren of Finland reacts on the fifth green during the second round of the Dow Championship at Midland Country Club on June 28, 2024 in Midland, Michigan. (Photo by Dylan Buell/Getty Images)************** No EMP/Matilda presser, but here's the comedy team of Jeeno & Ronnie: Ronnie: "You hit it pretty good on the back nine. The front nine was a little shitty but the back nine was pretty good."

Danielle birdied the final hole to put her and Lyds in for the weekend. DK is languishing in CME (#116) so she will finally get some points. The Thais are in a good position to win again (of course!) on the broadcast they mentioned only Americans and Thais have won this event. Will the curse be broken?

I dogged Ssu-Chia Cheng not too long ago for not being able to finish the job and here she's tied for first. She needed a partner.
Lexi and Brooke are meshing much better than last year. Lexi can let it all hang out.
This is really anybody's tournament.

Great news is the Giant Lims are paired with Brooke and Lexi so they can't hide them from the cameras tomorrow

The problem with this event is that everyone shoots ridiculously low scores, so it ends up being a big traffic jam with one or two lucky shots being the difference. We had 13 scores of 62 or better today and a bunch more 63s and 64s.
So yeah, it's pretty much random who ends up winning. At this point, I just hope I get to see people I like, which means they have to go ultra-low to get on TV. Today they ignored my favorites, so I hope tomorrow is different.

Lexi, the most popular American golfer almost everywhere and even more so now after her retirement announcement, You've made a declaration without any evidence! As of today, Lexi has 605,000 Instagram followers and Nelly has 963,000. By your reasoning, 605,000 >> 963,000. Point well taken, but I didn't say that Lexi had more IG followers. Some people may have a lot of IG followers because they are famous or newsworthy. Obviously, Nelly is very popular too.
I would expect someone who has been a constant news item in recent months by winning five tournaments in half a year to get more attention and followers than someone who hasn't won any tournaments in nearly five years, well, a little over four. Nelly may be the top LPGA news item in 2024 whereas Lexi was last decade's big news. Comparing what each has done recently, it's a surprise that Nelly doesn't have 9 million followers and Lexi 60,000...

So tired of hearing about how popular Thompson is. So she hit long drives, her win total is about the same as Sei Young Kim. Sei Young stats are better and has won a lot more International Tournaments. So tell me what's so special about her to be hyped so much.

So tired of hearing about how popular Thompson is. So she hit long drives, her win total is about the same as Sei Young Kim. Sei Young stats are better and has won a lot more International Tournaments. So tell me what's so special about her to be hyped so much. SYF, I don't mean to offend, I'm here because I support Sei Young and Jin Young and Amy and Haeran and Hyo Joo and many other ROK golfers. I'm here because I support Jeongeun Lee6 after Hank Haney made some idiotic and stupid comments about her and the Koreans back in 2019. I'm here because 25 years ago, after Seri began to be successful on the LPGA and other Koreans followed, then the LPGA began to consider instituting an English language proficiency test to qualify for the tour. Those are the reasons why I'm offended!
I'm here because it's not fair that great athletes are ignored because most people in the USA are excited about Lexi and Nelly, and in the last year, Rose. Brooke Henderson also, and the Scandinavian golfers. Most of the rest of the Europeans except the British, and all the Asians, no, they get ignored the same as the Seoul Sisters. CĂ©line Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, the Thai and Japanese golfers, they all get the same treatment as the Koreans. If they are winning or close to the leader then Golf Channel puts them on tv because they can't be ignored when they are winning. Otherwise they are ignored.
I also don't think that it's fair that Lexi is so treated so special. But it's true that she is. Nelly has more IG followers but I don't think she gets quite the special treatment that Lexi does. But there are many American golfers who are also ignored. They only receive attention when they are winning or close to winning. Kupcho, Ewing, Khang, Pano, Coughlin, Tardy, Ryann O'Toole. Ryann has everything going for her that Lexi does, blonde (I think), friendly, and Ryann has won more LPGA tournaments in the last four years than Lexi has, granted, the Scottish Open is 'welfare' in the words of Phil. Bailey Two even more so, she's southern, blonde, athletic, and friendly. Vu now gets attention only because the big sponsor Ally is behind her. She got almost zero before that! She won two majors last year and her primary sponsor was Kingston. Tell me what that is! I thought that it was a Canadian minor league hockey team, I was wrong!!!
Did you hear the galleries chanting, "Lexi, Lexi, Lexi!" a few weeks ago at the Meijer as the three golfers advanced to the next playoff hole? When I heard them, I wondered, "What are Lilia and Grace Kim thinking?" All those people wanted them to lose, some of them high-fiving Lexi as the three of them advanced to the next hole. That's why I'm offended, SYF,,,

Last week at Sahalee, in my purely anecdotal experience, the names I heard people talking about the most were Thompson, Korda and Henderson, in that order. Not sure I heard much about anyone else. I think I heard one or two fan comments about Lydia Ko, and later Amy got some chatter, but usually it was 'Lexi's playing in an hour', 'Lexi is coming through here soon' (usually after she had already passed), 'I think Lexi is in the trees', 'was that a birdie by Lexi', etc. Dozens and dozens of times.
I wish Jin Young in particular, who played with Thompson all four days, would have gotten some love, but other than a few exceptions, she was basically ignored. The only person I saw playing with her all week that got any attention from the fans was Saso, who remember had just won the US Women's Open. Thankfully, a few people knew who SHE was.

I was waiting for the shuttle at Shoprite/Acer and perusing a printout I brought with me for the Round One tee times ... a guy asked me when Henderson tees off. That's the way of the world, people, just brush it off. Never mind the U.S., MHL is mostly ignored by the Korean media ... she probably doesn't care and didn't bother to put her name on the LPGA Player-Agent list. But, that doesn't stop anyone from being a fan.
