Yuri + Beck is as random as it gets 😂 Lexi playing with Nasa years ago takes the cake though Solo 2nd won't be good enough for Annie; she needs to win to earn enough CME points for 2025. Maybe next year Allisen will be kind enough to team with AP just as her old playing partner Jen Song leveled up this year. Jen Chang and Gina would also make sense as a team since they are both from North Carolina, but the USC sisterhood is too strong. Remember when the Giant Lims defeated Jeen and Pajaree in a virtual golf skins game?

I know it’s non sister related but the Charles and George press conference for this tournament is the funniest thing I’ve heard across female or male sport in a very long time.

I'm still picking Giant Lims to win this week - I'm even stronger in my convictions seeing they are paired with CW and JB first 2 days - Yealim will want to extract revenge on Hana Bank for dumping her too soon in favor of JB.
Also I think Amy's win will inspire the sisters.
When Hae Ran won in Arkansas last year, Hyo Joo won the very next week in Texas.
Amy won the CME, Lydia won the TOC (I know it overlapped, but I'm still counting it!)

How have we gotten this far into this thread and you're only now telling me that Jin Young is in this thing, and playing with Nasa??? You guys made it sound like it was a bunch of third tier players teaming with Epson tour wannabes, but there are some real names here! Also Amy Yang with Jennifer Song and Hae Ran Ryu with So Mi Lee. That last group could be hilarious together, I hope they get shown.

Auston Kim + Grace Kim is another sister team that could surprise with their perfect blend of power and precision for this track. not as high profile, but AK is the best American rookie by far + Grace should have 2 wins this year! 😡 Best case for them to win might be a torrential rain storm on Sunday, limiting the the event to 54 holes.

Why did Suwannapura and Clanton break up? Didn't they win this event in a recent year? It's not like either of them, especially Clanton, has exactly been a victory machine in recent times...
Kupcho and Salas were paired when they won... now it's Kupcho and Ewing which is actually a quite strong pairing, Ally has been on the verge of success in recent weeks and Jen has been competitive... Salas with Darquea does not inspire much confidence... you all know that I support las sudamericanas as underdogs, but even 'Haney' (me, not the 'real Haney,' he probably thinks Darquea is Mexican) is uninspired by this pairing. You can all laugh at me if they finish the first round at minus-8, of course...
One group does stay together at the Dow, Lexi and Brooke. Lexi, the most popular American golfer almost everywhere and even more so now after her retirement announcement, and Brooke, the only golfer more popular than Lexi in Michigan and nearby states. But I gotta quote verdantgarden from last year's Dow, "Henderson and Lexi working together like sand in gears." Maybe they'll have more success this year...
Boutier/Saso likely to get some coverage on Thursday, along with Jin Young and Nasa. Team FinnAsian, Castren/Tan, more likely to triumph after two second place finishes than Knight/Szokol would be to defend their title... But my most amusing conjecture is regarding the first group, Borge and Mack... can't you just imagine the caddy advising Mack to lay up for the best strategy on a hole, and Celine telling her, no, don't listen to him, he's only here to carry your clubs... knock the **** out of it, Polly! At which point, Mack smacks the ball dead center on the fairway... of an adjacent hole! Laugh at me if Borge/Mack finish minus-6 after round one...

Lexi, the most popular American golfer almost everywhere and even more so now after her retirement announcement, You've made a declaration without any evidence! As of today, Lexi has 605,000 Instagram followers and Nelly has 963,000. By your reasoning, 605,000 >> 963,000.

I'm watching Round One now ... as usual, the poverty cases are saving their seasons (if not, careers) today. I didn't know Nicole Broch Estrup was still in this country and she is T-6 playing with Nanna Cursed Mad. Amanda Doherty (zero CME points) tied for third place and Sandra Gal is tied for first place. Hoping to see Grewal & Nam ... and we're getting too much of EKP and Lopez.
Last picks on the playground, Carter and Stanford (+6 thru 17).

Wow what are these scores? Do AP and Jen have a chance!?
I'm not counting out team Finnlaysia either - considering they finished runner up twice. This event is their super bowl.

Right you are!!!! It would be a crime if they don't finally win it this year ... and they had NO cover on GC today, unless I wasn't paying attention.
After a long lunch break, the Getty photographer just went back to work.

The verb "watches" is in the caption.

**********
Rough start for Beck and Yuri, +3 on their first ten ... hoping they make the cut ... Beck didn't play the LPGA in 2022 or 2023 ... I saw her in the UMCC dining room during pro-am day at Cognizant in May, which will probably exceed all her TV time this year. I'm still bullish on Yuri's LPGA future ... she has a non-static set up over her tee shots ... never completely freezes over the ball which removes excess tension, I would think.
