My field rating for this event is a poor 31%, down from 32% last year. My breakdown is 29% from the LPGA Priority List and 33% from the Rolex World Rankings. The reason the Priority List rating is so low is that the field (just 78 players) is made up of only 43 players from the LPGA. The other 35 players are from the JLPGA.
Only three top ten players will be teeing it up: Haeran Ryu (6) Jin Young Ko (9) Ayaka Furue (10)
Other Stuff: Ruoning Yin's win at the Maybank Championship was her third victory of the year. That ties her for second place with Hannah Green and Lydia Ko. Nelly Korda leads the tour with six victories.
Haeran Ryu registered her tour leading 11th top ten of the year. Jeeno Thitikul's 2nd place finish was her 6th consecutive top ten and her 10th top ten of the year. That feat is quite amazing as she missed the first two months of the season. Jeeno led the tour in top tens in each of the past two seasons.
Mao Saigo still holds a big lead in the race for the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year trophy. She has earned 895 points. Jin Hee Im is in second place with 783. With just a few events left on the LPGA schedule, it may take a victory by Im to win the award.
There was some important moves in the Rolex Rankings this week. Especially in the top ten: The victorious Ruoning Yin moves up from 4 to 3. Haeran Ryu jumps up from 9 to 6. Jeeno Thitikul leaps into the top ten 11 to 7. On the downside, Jin Young Ko drops from 6 to 9 and Amy Yang drops out of the top ten. Hye Jin Choi surges from 51 to 44. Bailey Tardy skyrockets from 131 to 98 and into my field ratings. Outside the top 100: Nataliya Guseva vaults up from 118 to 110. Marina Alex blasts up from 143 to 122. Wei-Ling Hsu hurdles up from 155 to 135.
There was not much movement in the bottom (and most important) part of the Race to the CME Globe, as with the limited fields in Asia, those players don't get into the field list. Wei Ling Hsu wraps up her playing card for next year climbing from 82 to 72. As far as the playing field itself for that event, where just 60 players qualify: Bailey Tardy jumps into the field moving from 65 to 50, and Marina Alex almost got there with a move from 67 to 61.

HaeRan, Saigo, or MeYou to win. I'll be shocked if it's anyone else!

Google mush article excerpt explains this photo:
In everyday life, it is rare to see people holding a toilet seat except for when they are cleaning. Furthermore, it is not common to have an opportunity to take a commemorative photo together. Even so, Sakura Koiwai looks at the toilet lovingly and gently places her hand on it.
There is a prize that Koiwai has been aiming for in this tournament for a while. The Toto Toilet with Washlet "Neorest NX" will be installed behind the 18th green during the event. The company's website states that "The elegant curves of the toilet, taking advantage of the texture of the ceramic, provide the ultimate hospitality," and the price is 776,600 yen including tax. This is the highest-end product of warm water washing toilets, which generally cost around 100,000 yen for the cheapest ones.
"It's a bit different from normal (toilets) and a bit unique. I think the round shape is really nice," said Koiwai. Even though she has won 741,276,666 yen in prize money in her lifetime, this is a masterpiece that she would not "easily think of buying," so she wants to use her golf skills to get it.

What a stark contrast with the tournament in Korea. The field is dominated by JLPGA players. There are only seven players from the US. To the end of her pro career, Lexi refuses to tour Asia since the pandemic broke.

Yeah, last year the leaderboard was full of JLPGA players. Once upon a time that used to happen with the KLPGA. Oh well.
The Korean event does have one advantage: I think most players who make an ace would prefer to win a BMW rather than a toilet!

Why was Jenny speaking with an Australian accent? Maybe I never heard her speak before but I could have sworn she sounded like a Cali girl.

MHL got it to -3 before falling back to -1 ... her top-60 for CME is definitely in danger. She's not in the field for Hawaii.
Only in Japan would they track down JTibs for changing the shaft in her driver.
She chose the 53S ... tested consistently at 2300 RPM with her Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond Max driver, which she considered ideal ... worked out nicely as she shot 66.

Great round by Jin Young Ko minus one front clean score card minus six back nine. She looked like her old self hitting her approach shots close and making her putts.
Kudos to Hyo Joo Kim, Jenny Shin tie for third place and Hae Ran Ryu seventh first round.
Yui Kawamoto and Kotone Hori sticking together again at minus three. Great to see that they both got shown on the broadcast. They will have to up their game to get shown the second round

Round 1 Really great round for the top Koreans! Jin Young Ko looked like her old self: a lot of sweet irons and birdies. Hae Ran made a few putts for a change, and Hyo Joo Kim made a birdie on the last from off the green. Jenny has gone fully Aussie again LOL. For those who don't know, she usually sounds American, but when she hangs out with her Aussie caddie too much she sometimes warps into a faux Aussie accent. I can't tell if she does it for giggles or can't help it, but it's pretty funny nonetheless. Even Im is not that far behind Saigo, although she's going to have to have a great week to keep her hopes alive, and so far it's been lackluster for her. Hwaiting!
