Is the tournament 54 holes now? That benefits Yealimi so I won't be mad! It definitely benefits Yealimi and any of the golfers near the top of the leaderboard. Unlikely that anyone at minus-7 or worse would have a chance as they would have to pass at least 16 golfers in a single round. Golfers at minus-8 only have to pass five golfers, which is doable. The danger is if it is shortened to 2 rounds; although a T2 finish won't hurt anybody.

Saturday's arrivals ...
Yui
Most of the LPGAers traveled between the hotel and Seta GC by shuttle bus, such as MHL and HoJo (Grant behind them).
Minami Katsu
... and Saturday's exits:
Coconut
Hikaru Yoshimoto
I'm still not buying Hana Wakimoto ... even though she now has 18 fewer holes to defend.

An article reported that Dr. Noh is using the ProSENDR on the range this week ... per Google mush, she said "I bought this a few months ago because I thought it was good. When I tried it out, it felt really good and corrected the bad parts of my swing."

This made me chuckle... an incident in my personal life that decades later has a weird coincidence not with Jin Young but with 안 나 린... "Don't look at me! You can't look at me yet!"

Yealimi had the lead with 9 holes left but ran out of gas. Also the vibes were down for the entire group, maybe if she played w Marina again. Either way another good week!

And congrats to Haeran on her 3rd place finish in the Toto, yet another top ten. "Marine-er" Alex vs Rio Takeda in a playoff...

And congrats to Rio Takeda on her first career LPGA win, in the 2024 Toto Japan Classic, on the 6th playoff hole. That took awhile! And congrats to "Marine-er," Marina Alex, who just missed her 3rd LPGA win at the age of 34 by finishing 2nd in the playoff. Let's head to Hawaii for the Lotte...

Rio earned a "crikey!" after her second shot into the par-5 16th, starting at 10:30 -
"I don't need no stinkin' Q-Series."
MHL moved up to #56 on CME ... we'll see later if skipping Lotte and playing the Mannika is the right call.
Naveed, Yuna and The New Ko ... the JLPGA website shows daily attendance figures of 2,759 (Thu), 2,473 (Fri) and 5,376 (Sun).

Here's the end of the tourney on one of the Japanese channels:
The funny part is that I pushed a lot of the YouTube comments into Google mush, which produced a torrent of criticism against a broadcaster named Tobari ... samples:
It's annoying to see Tobari, a total amateur, talking about the pros' plays in such a condescending way. Don't be in the spotlight.
I agree. Tobari is annoying me all the time.
Why do you keep using Tobari even after all the criticism?
When a player misses a short putt, Tobari always repeats "Motai" (What a waste), regardless of how subtle or complex the line was.
Only people over 70 years old are happy about Tobari
Why does Tobari talk so arrogantly? Who does he think he is?
Everyone was great except for Tobari
Tobari, you're disliked~😂 Well, it's been that way for a long time...

Congrats to Rio. She's like the Japanese Ina Yoon. Also one less person in Q school for Annie to worry about! Marina is now safe in the top 60 as well.
Yealimi moves all the way to 29 and has a hammerlock on the Solheim standings. I can't see many players passing her if she maintains this form. Time for a much needed rest!

Haeran had a strong final day, but as usual came up just a bit short. Man, she had three or four missed decent birdie chances and one decent missed eagle chance, and also had a lipout par save, and still ended up just one shot out of the playoff. She was clearly the best player this week, but she needs to force herself to practice putting this off-season (she doesn't like putting practice apparently). She should be winning three - five times a year with her game.
Other than her, it was a massively disappointing final day. Mi Hyang and Hyo Joo moved into the top ten, then blew it. Jin Young had a fairly rotten final day, and Jin Hee screwed the pooch big time. If there were any chance she could win ROY, it's gone now.
Yealimi was cruising along, hit a terrible approach on 11, and never recovered. It wasn't a bad week for her, but she had a win in the palm of her hands! 14 under with a lot to play, she should have been able to birdie the final two par fives and walk off with the victory.
I bet this is the first 0 for Asia result the Koreans ever had in a season... Hopefully next year will be a whole lot better. Hwaiting!
