Rocket having a rocket round: 4 birdies in 5 holes. It would be nice to see her contend, but I'm worrying about the rocket down portion that is possibly coming. Hwaiting! Looks like she rocketeered in the wrong direction (+3) Stop the count! Yealimi is T1! Included a double bogey on a par 5, Sei Young did the same 😭

Is Jenny OK? I thought that she'd posted a decent round but she WD.

Woo-hoo, 3-under today ... a big Yuri fan checking in here ... I've bought into her pre-shot routine which I witnessed at UMCC: she is NEVER static with the club before pulling the trigger.

AP on good track to make 4 of her last 5 cuts. Jen Chang off to a nice start as well coming off a T14 in Portland. Looks like the decision to team up at Dow has been a boon for both. You don't star at USC to play on the Epson Tour! (Sorry Karen Chung) It seems like Karen Chung is trying to get serious this year. She has played in more Tournaments this year but being fifty fourth on the money list she needs to probably win. She has cancelled her new Chungchung Instagram account and her old Chunkar13 is private. I really expected her to do a lot better.

Epson is loaded this year with a lot of fringe LPGA players, late bloomers, rookies, and a swarm of eager Taiwanese and Chinese golfers. Even top minor league sister Kum Kang Park is not a sure thing to crack top 15. Karen will likely need a good showing at Q school (if she doesn't get a win) to jump back to the LPGA. I think the last time she got promoted was with Gabby Then who didn't do much either. Im just glad AP and Jen earned enough points to get a crack at top 100 by seasons end. They were both struggling in Epson Land this year, a good wake up call for both!

I never heard Yuri speak before ... her English is passable to say the least in the video link below:
***********
Decent start for J. Song (E), but really, time is running out for her at #164 on CME ... par rounds aren't good enough ... she is only one year younger than Inky, but seems more deserving of retiring at this stage.

Round 1 A decent start to the week for Jin Young. If she could just put the ball in the hole she'd be able to get a win. Hae Ran also did well with a 3 under, and Sei Young was briefly at 4 under before an ill timed double. Amy rallied to even and So Mi is at 1 over and Jin Hee 2 over. This is another good chance to get a good finish so I hope they move up in round 2. Alas, Six is at 5 over. Still struggling. Hwaiting!

Appears to be a decently tough course to play. No crazy low round 1 scores.
Unlike the PGA. I caught the last of Golf Central before the start of the taped delay broadcast and Brandel Chamblee was saying Scheffler could win this by 20 shots. Then they discussed how second place earns the player $12.50 Million!

I'm not going to try to make any predictions or draw any conclusions from round 1, especially in a new tournament on a new course. Great to see Haeran, "the new Ryu," near the top of the leaderboard at minus-3 and several other Sisters within a few strokes. Agree with you HF that it's sad to see Six continuing to struggle. I just keep trying to believe... ever since 2019 when she renewed my interest in LPGA. Now I admit my short-term memory is mainly shot these days... but I swear that I saw multiple advertisements for this tournament during broadcasts over the past few months. I think the tagline was, Boston, the LPGA is back! And I think I remember Lilia Vu being one of the golfers featured in the ad, BUT SHE'S NOT HERE!

Friday morning and the top of the leaderboard is crowded with global sisters. Haeran, Yealimi, Robyn, Jen, and Jin Young. We just need the artist formerly known as Atthaya and LC to be dormant today, they are scary.

Six is two under today, three over total, with a few holes to play. Just over the cut line. If she can manage one more birdie I think she can make it. Fingers crossed!

Unfortunately, Sei Young Kim has dropped out. Fortunately, Jin Young and Hae Ran are playing great. Jin Young is 4 under on the day so far (5 under total) thanks to shots like this. Hae Ran is 6 under after 12 holes and right now is two up on Yealimi and four up on third place Borge/Jin Young/Robyn Choi. Go go go!!! Hwaiting!

Gina Kim started poorly today, +4 thru 4. Will need to salvage a couple on the back 9 to make the weekend.
A Haeran/Yealimi pairing tomorrow will be a wonderful display of ball striking.🍿

Six ended the day at +2, three under today. That's tied 60th at the moment. Might make the cut, might not. But I'm proud of her, a great effort!
