They explained it ... Trevino's dopey looper pulled out a range finder a couple of times, but they are banned here.
******** Biggest rules blunder since DK (?) (NO, WRONG!) missed the unplayable lies update for about half of the final round of one of the US tournaments last year, I think the Kroger Queen City (?) (NO, WRONG!) but I may have the wrong tournament. For that matter, I may have the wrong golfer. In any case, what's up with Danielle lately? She seems to be struggliing in the last year or so. I keep hoping she'll snap out of it like the newest HOF Lydia did.
EDIT: Complete and total correction, I had both the wrong golfer and the wrong tournament. The golfer who missed the preferred lies update wasn't DK whom I'm hoping will turn things around like Lydia Ko, it was Lydia Ko! The tournament where it happened wasn't the 2023 Kroger Queen City, it was the 2023 Dana. Well, in my defense, both take place in Ohio and both involved Mia Hammond in 2023...

DK is cooked. To be fair she had that back/spinal surgery that could have ended her career but she keeps plodding along. Maybe the Vegas lifestyle caught up to her. She'd be a good addition to a female LIV tour.
Unlike golfers who start to peak in their 30's, shes already tasted the cup of success and may simply not have the desire or can't overcome the mental hurdles to get back on the mountain top.
Even Annie is looking better than DK this year.

Ha ha to the players who trunk-slammed ... per the scores, the course is a total pushover during Saturday AM ... I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same Sunday ... although Big Ryu (-1 thru first 12 holes) hasn't fully exploited it.

"I'm picking Shin, there's two of them!" (They just have to catch Nelly...)
And who plugged in silver medalist Henseleit and Valenzuela on Saturday? They started too far back to get a win, but top 10 quite possible...

And Jiyai did! Catch Nelly...
"Two Shins, a Yin, and Jin Hee Im..."

Should be a good battle tomorrow for the jug. AP#2 is in the mix and never count out the Artist formerly known as Atthaya.

Jiyai and Lilia in the last group. But so much quality behind them. Nelly, Lydia, Jeeno. Shame I’ll be walking in Cornwall and won’t watch any of the action live on TV

Great round by Jiyai Shin to take the lead into the Final Round. Jenny Shin has an outside chance if she can finally make her putts the Final Round.
Jin Hee Im has a good chance for a top five.
A shout out to So Mi Lee three under par today to get to even.

This was a fantastic day for the Korean golfers, and it kept getting better and better. Jiyai Shin in the lead at the Old Course -- what a complete joy. That second shot she hit on 17 was one of the best shots not only of the year, but that I have ever seen. If she can keep making longish putts and hitting shots like that, she has a real chance of taking this thing. And what an amazing story that would be, too: we never had a thirty something Korean Major winner before this year, and we could have TWO? I sure hope the Final Round Queen can arise one more time and get that title. Go go go! And she even has the advantage of not having to play with Korda tomorrow. I think a Vu pairing will suit her just fine. Jenny Shin has an interesting story, too, in that her caddie was apparently the Caddie master at the Old Course once upon a time, and has played the place over a thousand (pardon me, "Thooosand") times. Ya think that's a slight advantage she can exploit? They barely showed Jin Hee Im, but she's actually in a great place herself. Just four back, she absolutely can still win this. Hyo Joo is also lurking six back, and congrats to So Mi on an excellent 69 today. It's not going to be easy. Lydia, Thitikul, Vu, Yin or Korda could easily surge and make things tough. But I have my fingers and toes crossed that we will get a fantastic result tomorrow. It's been ages since the Koreans won here, let's get it done! Hwaiting!!

R&A YT channel has cool "Inside the Open" clips though this one is highlighted with an intense ping pong match between Hannah G and Meg Khang with LC and Janet looking on. youtu.be/M4uyisA328Y?si=qNdYJDf-bL7z4aTOAt the end they show Lyds being greeted by her man and later congratulating Jiyai on her round.

Very well-played indeed, Jiyai! I became a fan of the LPGA because of Mi Hyun Kim so she will always have a place in my heart. But if I had to choose my favorite of all in the sport, I would choose Jiyai Shin.

Jiyai is one of my all-time favorites, too. When it comes to playing the game intelligently, she's right up there with Inbee as the best the Koreans have ever had. And she might be the most unflappable player of them all. It almost feels like too much to ask for her to get this win, but who cares, I'm asking!! Go Jiyai! Hwaiting!

Thanks, that was cool. Did you notice that Jiyai was talking to different people in English, Korean and Japanese? What an ambassador.

Mi Hyun Kim, when I think of her, I will always think of her as the ultimate Professional. That's why as a fan Mi Hyun Kim is my number one and So Yeon will always be my one A.
