MSU has a great basketball program (as you know) though Tom Izzo has done nada for a hot minute now. Off hand I can only think of Valery Plata - glad to see her win on Epson earlier this year, should propel her confidence big time in the short term. NJ is alright, I'm in Hoboken. I'll make my summer casino trip over to AC around ShopRite time and quick Uber down to next door Galloway. Izzo has lost most of his mojo (don't say that in front of my wife, she worships him, they share the same birthdate though he is five years older.) Don't know if he's figured out what to do in the NIL era. But even now he still manages to be competitive, doesn't win championships but competes. Doesn't lose to 16 seeds in the tournament like Matt Painter... What many people don't know is that his selection to advance to head coach from assistant when the great Jud Heathcote retired in the mid 90s was met with indifference at best, at worst, "Why didn't we hire a successful head coach instead of this young unproven assistant?"
Plata is the MSU golfer that I was mainly thinking of. I cheered for Valery so much last year and I think that she only made one cut all year. I considered her a protege of Mariajo Uribe who was from the same small metro area in Colombia. Uribe was a Bruin, I believe? (No offense intended to the Trojans...) Hope that Valery's current success in Epson represents an advance in her game to be competitive on the LPGA next year...
Have you considered attending the USWO in Lancaster, PA? Phil will tell you how to get there from NJ without paying a single toll! Just as I used to do when I lived in the Philly metro area back in the 90s... Only one thing I ask, since you're from the west coast, please pronounce it as the locals do, not how 95+ percent of Americans do. The locals say "LANK-uh-ster," not "Lang-CAS-ter" as nearly all Americans say. When I lived in the Philly suburbs, my street was one block off of "LANK-uh-ster" Pike...
Haha! I'm actually from NY - next to the town Annie is from, which is why she is my favorite. I am years older but she trained at the driving range I would goof off at in highschool with my buddies. Since then ive bounced around -went to college upstate NY, I taught English in Korea for a year, lived in San Diego, before relocating back to NY and now in NJ with my wife. She went to Vanderbilt so now I will root for Auston Kim too by proxy. Id love to go to the US Open but my younger brother is getting married that week! Good thing he is low maintenance so no $ down the toilet on a bachelor party 😂

Or I should say that my wife and I helped her move there from Indiana a month and a half ago...

You'd swear every old timer around here has a story or interaction with him 😂 No sports heroes of note besides Annie and current Detroit Tigers closer Jason Foley.

Without Nelly, Brooke or Lydia this week; it looks like a good week for Yealimi, Gina, Amy or Lucy to steal a win. Hopefully, they all step up!

Yealimis putting has improved mightily - shes now above average! Small sample size but progress nonetheless - I'd like to see her GIR pct spike a bit, which shouldn't be an issue with her power. Amy's numbers look good too, she is due for a top 10. Unfortunately AP was +6 in Qualifying today so back to Epson again this week ðŸ˜
