Yuri Yoshida (right) gets to rub elbows with the 'A' list in practice.
Google mush quote from article:
Above all, for Yoshida, the atmosphere at the rope side should be very different. Many of the galleries I took with me every week in Japan are nowhere to be seen. ``(The fans) definitely make me feel better when they're there. There are a lot of people who tell me, ``The ball's gone over there.''That's why I'm careful not to bend it (so I don't lose the ball). "I have to do it," he said with a laugh, expressing his determination to find new ways to fight.

Aigoo, some of these choices are pathetic ... Crusty? Korda Two? Stanford?!

Why isn't I.K. Kim playing? There must be a bone to be thrown.

I'm hoping that Se Ri Pak gets to sit in a seat on an elevated platform near the 18th green like the founders do at the Founders Cup. Then every player when they finish have to greet her/genuflect before they walk off the green. We'll see.
I suspect they will actually just have her sit in the booth for a few minutes and talk to the commentators, though.
Meanwhile, halfway through the morning wave and not a single Sister in the top ten. Sigh.

"Rose was the best of the afternoon wave..." No mention of Jenny, currently at the same minus-3 as Rose through 16.

Considering the event's host, I certainly hope that The Old Goofball can get out there for at least one day.
Sunset is 7:06 PM local time ... which is now and three groups are still playing.
Really shocked that Leblanc is in first with a 64. I can't call her a has-been, because she hasn't been anywhere before ... "never was" is a more accurate term. She must like So. Cal because she had a T-13 here in 2023 and also made the cut at Wilshire a few weeks later. I had to review my notes from the 2023 USWO 36-hole qualifier I attended at Echo Lake ... Leblanc was +1 after 24 holes, then made three straight bogeys and stormed off the course.

I'll be there on Saturday. If one of my players is in the hunt, I'll be back on Sunday. Of course, the priority is to catch a glimpse of Se Ri.

Round 1
Yeesh, not the greatest start to the week for the Sisters! Out of the 20 in the field, *nine* of them are not even in the top 100. Particularly dire was So Mi, who among other things had a quad on one hole. I'll admit I wasn't expecting that, she was having a decent season so far, but everyone has their off days. Six started her year with a 79, Yu Jin and Hyo Joo a 74, and even Jiyai is above the cut and has work to do tomorrow.
The one decent round today came courtesy of In Gee, a 69 and top ten, admittedly not someone I was expecting to rise to the occasion. I can't help but worry that she won't be able to follow that up, but if she wants to surprise me I won't mind!
Besides her, Hae Ran, Jin Hee, Hye Jin and Jenny Shin did OK. And Eun Hee, the venerable star.
I skipped through the coverage and didn't see a single Korean. Good job, LPGA! But they sure showed a lot of the usual suspects. At least they did do an interview with Se Ri during which they also mentioned So Yeon, about whom Se Ri had nice things to say.
Anyways, I sure hope the Koreans can improve tomorrow. Do it for Se Ri! Hwaiting!

I wonder if SayYouSeRi is there, incognito.

Caddie list is out ... which intern works on this? The Zhangster is about as high-profile as you can get, but there is a blank space next to her name. It's old news that Man Bun became her regular loop at the start of 2024.
The Rocket has weather-worn Audrey Gerdes ... hmm, five bogeys on her first six holes, that might be enough to bring down the curtain on this collaboration.
A stunner on the list ... Gemma Dry-burra either axed Paul Heselden or he quit on her. They were together for years ... I remember seeing them at Galloway before she won in Japan. Heselden was picked up by Moriya J., while Gemma has Chris Edwards (per Getty, he was on EK Pedersen's bag at the 2022 AIG WBO).
*******
Six ... wow, she stunk ... will this be a repeat of early 2023?
*******
Europe's Koreans (Grant, Sagstrom, Strom and Holmqvist) are kicking butt in the top-10, so far. Great start by Dani, who was pointless and penniless coming into this week.
*********
Minji Kang, 79-65, WTH?! Based up on Getty pics, she joined Crazy Bob's team this year. She attended Truett McConnell U., which I never heard of before.

I haven't watched any of this yet ... is this place sort of a hilly, west coast version of the Seaview? The white line yardage is only 6,258 and Round One was played at 6,181 ... a wide disparity in scoring between the top and the bottom, which happens often at the Seaview.
*****
MHL fighting!!! Just when it looked like the wheels were coming off, she eagled the par-5 14th to get back to -2. What is that hole set at today? Unfortunately, the LPGA doesn't post the daily yardage until the round is over.
The good stuff keeps building from week to week ... yes, she can win again ... exactly when and where, I don't know ... maybe she needs a goat track with a weak field, but I don't care.
*****
Congrats to Lindy Duncan for renting out the front of her cap for the first time since 2020 ... Braatz Wealth Advisors (of Pine Valley Investments) ... never heard of them before and its HQ is in Marlton, NJ ... with a title like that, I'm guessing its clients play all the swanky golf courses located between the Philly mainline and the Jersey shore.
