With a Chinese American winning last week, let's see if a Korean American can win here.
Ever since the advent of the pandemic, Lexi Thompson has pretty much avoided travelling overseas, especially the Far East.

Fun candids a la Polaroid:
Huh?! I didn't know this technology was still in existence. I guess I should be making more trips to Best Buy ... didn't know they had a portal to Mr. Peabody's WABAC machine.

The Big Three should be in the same group. Another missed opportunity.

Six! Lee6! Jeongeun Lee6 leading the sisters after a great front nine... Hope that the other sisters can also exploit the home country advantage this weekend...
Fur-oo also having a good round. Boutier and beautiful Lilia Vu duking it out for CME #1 and #2.

If you are a towel boy or towel girl in Vegas, your biggest dream is to hand A. Lee & her long time bf, plush monogrammed, white bathrobes.

Alison Lee definitely looking good along with Fur-oo, Ronnie Yin, and Maja Stark. But who plugged in Ash Buhai!!!
"New kid in town" competition, all three competing in a tournament for the first time in a month or more, Alexa Pano T9 minus-5 through 16, CW T57 even for the round, Rose 75th plus+2 for the round. Tomorrow, of course, is a new day...

Minjee dialled in at the end of her round. Shame about In Gee, can’t see her getting into CME at end of season

Also for photos from this tournament are there any local Korean photos? I’ve got the usual Getty Images who supply the LPGA Instagram and FB accounts. Plenty of In Gee but not many of the other sisters

Round 1
Meh. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but it is still pretty much of a letdown that the Sisters didn't play a little better in front of their hometown crowd. Especially Jin Young; what happened there? She nearly won in Hong Kong, she's had lots of rest; the last thing I was expecting was a really poor first day.
I guess there's still time for the Sisters to make a run and set themselves up for the weekend, but if the leaderboard stays this way, and with a great KLPGA event just 11 miles away, I gotta wonder if anyone is gonna show up to watch this without any Koreans in the hunt? This is one of the reasons you don't want competing events this weekend. The other, of course, is that the KLPGA stars deserve a shot at playing international stars to see how they stack up. And they often add a lot of excitement to the proceedings.
The Sisters have lost this event in the past, but I've never seen it where there weren't any that at least had a chance of winning. Fortunately, there are a few that could still climb back. Hae Ran had an excellent opener. The gals at 4 under, including Hyo Joo and Six, still have time to make up the 6-shot deficit. And Jiyai Shin is so great that she might be able to come back from 7 back.
Hwaiting!

And on that note, going to see the LPGA stars, even the Korean ones is not at all enticing especially when a person is apart of a community and recognized when visiting the KLPGA events. I have a very very small desire to go see Rose, but it's so minuscule. I'm so happy to go to Lakewood to see the KLPGA. I hope to go to Lakewood on Sunday. Hopefully Yewon does well on the chill and wind today as she tees off in a few minutes.
