The New Ko is not accepting excuses from HoJo today and it seems to be working.

Patty T. and Jeeno have a secret handshake that rivals the one between MHL and DK. If you rewind the GC broadcast to Thitikul's birdie putt on 17, you can see it. All it needed was Stacy Lewis to have a fit about it.

Congrats to the Koreans on getting the two wins! A little late, but better than nothing. I think they showed about 20 seconds total of the two teams on the broadcast. I understand; it's irrelevant to the outcome, but then again, we had a match with four Major winners, and we are going to see tons of US vs Sweden at Solheim, so perhaps a couple more shots would have been nice.

Interesting article from Golf Digest about the Korean teamSamples: Dean is more blunt. "I just felt that the course was only suited for a certain amount of players". Take that, Georgia Hall. I guarantee you In Gee's injury is worse than whatever Hall has. And yet they were barely shown on the coverage...

So in the end, even with the distance disadvantage and the injuries, it really came down to the Aussie match up. If they had just won one of those matches (and they came close in both), they would have beaten Australia on points and been in the final four. Would they have won? Probably not, but I still love the fact that they never gave up and got those two wins when they must have been thoroughly demoralized. Hwaiting! Get better, In Gee!

Still the Korean's Team had a great win against a great Japanese Team.
I stopped worrying about the Korean players coverage on the Golf Channel. For whatever reason they seem to be ignored on the Golf Channel this year. It's strange when Korean players in top fifteen are ignored and they show plus three and plus four golfers.

It got really bad in round two. I think they showed their matches vs Thailand maybe three times in the first hour, and two of those times was to show Ariya make a putt. Then, half the time when they went to commercial they ONLY showed the Pool A standings, not the Pool B. How the heck are we supposed to follow this event with coverage like that?
Let's be clear about two things.
1. This event only exists to begin with because of the Koreans. This tournament, and the Lexus Cup before it, were created because there was a growing annoyance with the exclusion of Asians at the Solheim Cup. And specifically the Koreans. Yes, lately there have been other countries with great players also excluded, but in the beginning it was the Koreans that motivated the discussion.
2. The event only has a current sponsor because of the Koreans. If they had had to depend on American companies to provide the cash, would it have happened?
So given you have an event which at least in part exists to showcase the non-Solheim teams, what happens? We end up watching Lexi or whoever up a tree for ten minutes; in other words, the same six - eight players we always end up watching. Euro players blithely skip the event to rest for the event THE NEXT WEEK (this is what Hall said she was doing, which is why I'm so done with that chick). And the course is "tricked up" (Dean's words) to benefit the teams that have a lot of long hitters, like coincidentally the Americans.
Meanwhile, two great golfing nations (I would argue the two best women's golf nations and it isn't even close in terms of fan support) are thrown to the wolves. And the sponsor from one of those nations as well. So that Nelly can get her ego stroked even more? So that the small group of American fans who care can come to the tournament? What is the end game here?
If the LPGA really cared about the non-Euros, they would fine Hall (probably Hull, too, but at least she wasn't so blatantly disrespectful in her comments so I could give her a pass) or, as I suggested, suspend her from this year's Solheim. But of course there will be no blowback whatsoever.

Hopefully this event will go back to a rotating schedule so different countries can host it. In which case it would make sense that each country would set up their course to favor their home players.
The idea of severe punishments for the English team is a little silly. You can’t just create rules after the fact, and expect to immediately enforce them. Bad look though I agree, especially for Hull who sat out a day once. It was really the brazen, I’m going to play in NJ next week that did it for me. Keep that under your hat at least!

Totally agree with HappyFan about the tv coverage. I'm wondering what the coverage of the championship will look like tonight? Will we see the teams that are actually competing for a win in the final? Or will we end up watching more of the consolation 3rd place event while the announcers describe it as a "mini-Solheim" or "Solheim preview."
Semifinal wrapup: The "Golden Girls" of Sweden totally demolished by Australia. Nordquist was done before they even made the turn. USA "Golden Girls" barely better; Lexi also appeared defeated before the turn, Korda hung in there a little longer. I did not see coverage so don't know to what extent Korda contributed as compared to Danielle as they fought back in the second nine. Thank God for Lilia Vu! Only golfer from four different countries to defeat a Thai opponent all week so far! "Lilia Vu, I love you!"
I know the seedings were predetermined by the rankings, but from a practical standpoint, Thailand was severely underseeded. Once the best half of the team dropped out, England's seeding was a joke too and their performance even worse. Granted, the USA has a deeper bench, but what would have happened if Lexi and Nelly had decided to 'opt out.' (Clearly the LPGA, the sponsors and the golf channel would never have allowed this.) As things turned out, I don't think USA would have fared much worse with, say, Angel Yin or Megan Khang or even Jennifer Kupcho. Kupcho has missed a lot of cuts lately, but honestly, has Lexi made any more than Jennifer, lately?
Looking forward to some interesting competition tonight if they show it. If Australia does manage to knock off the (so far) unstoppable Thais, Haney will credit Minjee, "I'm picking Lee!"

You forgot this one ...
... which ROK never won.

Since I maligned the Golf Channel coverage earlier, I need to admit that the championship/consolation final round coverage was excellent. They stayed with the meaningful championship Thailand vs Australia and I believe they only switched away to USA vs Sweden once, for about 15 seconds to show Lexi's winner. They also interviewed all the winning Thai golfers first before airing an interview with Lexi. Did anyone else notice that Lexi basically admitted that the Solheim was maybe not as meaningful as a tournament which included more of the world?
Congrats to Thailand! Patty T had seemed lost for most of the last year and a half. In recent weeks, she seemed to be getting her game back together. Jutanugarn sisters didn't seem quite as lost as Patty but had not been much of a factor during that time either. I think part of that was injury or injuries. Thitikul won ROY and has not let up this year. Like any sport, probably more so, you never know what will happen from week to week in golf. This week the Thais were dominant!
Good luck to the sisters in North Jersey next weekend!

Harding Park is dreary & overrated. It was better before the renovation and was the parking lot for the US Open at Olympic-- another overrated course.
