Chun looks tight as a drum. That's probably a good thing.

Team Korea press conference
It was pretty funny how Jin Young was trying to find a way to diplomatically say that women's golf doesn't attract as many fans in the US as South Korea. One weird question to ask was 'what needs to happen for you to consider this event a success?' In Gee (I think) rightly asks, you mean for us? No, he meant for the tour/future of the event, I guess.
I think this is going to be a more pleasant week for the Sisters than the last time. All the pressure was on them to win in Korea. It doesn't feel like this is getting nearly as much coverage in Korea as last time. Of course they are still expected to do well, but I don't think it's at the stifling level it was in 2018.
I go back and forth about their chances. On paper, they are strong. They have all had good moments this season. Jin Young and Hyo Joo have managed a number of top tens already; Hye Jin seems to be on the upswing lately. Even In Gee, who has struggled a bit, had a top 20 at the Chevron. This course would seem to be a good one for them, with tight fairways. But there are some strong teams in their bracket. All of which, to be honest, also have pluses and minuses.
Well, I hope the Korean gals give it their best and maybe magic will result. Sisters hwaiting!!

For those who didn't watch the press conference, here's why the Sisters chose the numbers they did: In Gee Chun chose 8 because she was born in August (the 8th month) and has won 8 Majors. That last reason is a big time flex. I didn't know In Gee had it in her. Hyo Joo Kim chose 10 because Lionel Messi has that number Jin Young Ko chose 7 because she was born 7/7. Interestingly, she didn't choose 1. Hye Jin Choi chose 23 because she is 23; it's 2023; she was born on the 23rd of August; and she likes Michael Jordan, who of course had that number.

At least late Hye Jin Choi showed up to try to get the win.

The Koreans have had some bad showings in the past two years, but I don't think I've ever seen anything like this: the second I turned on the coverage on the first day, and it's already over. They have no chance of winning and probably no chance of even getting out of the first round.
Needless to say, I didn't watch any of it. Three down in both matches? It was clear they were going to lose both.
Ah well, hope they get a little practice in, win at least one point before this is over, and move on to better successes elsewhere.

Ok, Thursday not so good for the sisters. Let's keep the faith. USA not exactly dominating against a supposedly weak China either. If Haney were allowed to speak, he'd probably say, "How could you only split against Yin, Lin, Liu, and Liu!" Or maybe he'd say, Ï'm picking Liu, there's two of them!" I guess Korda could have carried the day anyway but Vu was even better, "Lilia Vu, I love you!" I was almost surprised that the post-round interview allowed Lilia to speak instead of just focusing on Korda exclusively, a small victory with the golf media. SPONSORS YOU NEED TO SUPPORT LILIA VU, she just won a major!
As much trouble as the sisters had, at least they weren't as horrible as England, England was not even close to competitive after their two top golfers bailed out... whoever said they should be banished from (meaningless) Solheim, I agree. GO SISTERS ON FRIDAY!

This was probably a worst case scenario for the Sisters. If Thailand had split with Japan, then there would be only one team with a two-point lead on them. But now there are two, which means Korea has to win at least 3 of 4 remaining matches and probably needs to sweep Thailand as well. There are ways to get in without that, but they are unlikely.
In all likelihood the week is over for the Koreans and they are just playing for pride, but if some fluke happens and they sweep Thailand, they might still be able to sneak in or even get the top seed. Given that Thitikul always finds a way to disappoint me, I'm almost sure that isn't going to happen...

Unlike Happy...I don't shut off the TV if the players I root for are not in contention. It's still golf and it's better than watching watching some stupid police show or some terrible sitcom. That said, Why does this tournament seem to lack excitement? This tournament was a great idea. We get the to see this format played by the top 8 countries instead of just the USA and Europe. The problem is even though I watch every shot, it seems almost boring. I think I am bored because the players don't look all that excited.
Lets stick to Korea (since this is Seoul Sisters) and the USA for the moment.
Daniel Kang.... Why is she so laid back in this event when she is so reved up during Solheim? She seemed to leave her game in the locker room anyway. Lexi Thompson....Why is she even here (of course I know how she got in), she hasn't won in 4 years and it appears like she might never win again. Nelly Korda....She played ok but didn't exactly generate energy for her team Lilia Vu.... Thank God for Lilia...you could see she came to play.
In Gee Chun... I like her too much to say anything bad about her...I will leave that to you all Hyo Joo Kim... Never gets too excited so its hard to tell how she is feeling, but it sure looked like she was sleepwalking through 18 holes. Jin Young Ko.....don't get me statrted with her. She looked like she would rather be anywhere else on the planet then where she was. Hye-Jin Choi....She seemed the only player on the team that felt any urgency to win.
Now, I am sure that I probably pissed off some people on here by my negativity towards their favorite player(s). But the question I keep asking myself as I failed to see much excitement from the players is: Do most of them even want to be here, or are they playing it because they earned the spot and it's their obligation? I don't like the fact that Charley Hull and Georgia Hall and a couple of others didn't show up for the event, but if this is the way players are going to show up....then maybe they should just stay home!
