Good grief, this might be the single worst week the Koreans have had in a period of one terrible week after another.
Korea, the new Chinese Taipei I guess.
At least this time I watched a few shots before giving up. Well, that's all they showed for the first hour. Can't wait until the Japanese beat the crap out of them tomorrow.

When you think about it, Sweden and Thailand have always been the most impressive countries in women’s golf.
HUH?!!!! Okay, I'll buy Sweden, they've been a real power since Neumann won the '88 USWO, even if much of that was the 800 lb. Mannika, followed by Swedes who were mostly far behind her (true, a lot of non-Swedes were far behind, too! ). However, Thailand is not on the same planet as ROK during the last 15 years ... before the Jutanugarns, who did they have? They had Porna, who is good, but still hasn't won yet.

I still think being outplayed in golf is an oxymoron that's my opinion and I will stand by it. If any what I think is disrespectful to these wonderful ladies, I will comment on it. I have my favorites, but I respect the other golfers even those that I am not fond of.

Korea is a sports powerhouse that got into golf. What they accomplished was amazing but it was a national mobilization. Thailand has had 2 Rolex #1s. Just one less than the United States. Unbelievable.

So what should the Japanese and Koreans do tomorrow? This is the first time I ever recall two teams qualifying for the finals before the final day. It's not clear to me what either team is playing for at this point. I doubt they will get any TV time and probably even their ardent fans will take a pass watching them live tomorrow. Should they: - Decide not to play and halve both matches in a sign of respect for the others.
- Play in order to get some sad bragging rights.
- Purposely forget to set their alarms or hop on the next plane out of town tonight.
- Show up but play left handed or other 'challenges' to see who can still win.
Yeah, I'm joking, but maybe they can have a little fun instead of taking it too seriously at this point? Below: Not that it matters, but tomorrow's pairings https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr4o-bxro5d P.S. I think these two teams had the fewest long hitters between them. Wonder how much of a factor that was on this course...

The Korea Team didn't get it done but being there is not so bad. I guess the only positive was seeing them play two or three holes. Because they weren't shown at all until everyone else had finished and had been interviewed.

I think that the sisters should play for pride on Saturday. Don't push so hard that they run the risk of injuring themselves, especially Jin Young who has already been playing through injury, but play for pride and WE WILL SUPPORT THEM even though it's meaningless. Saturday vs Japan is a competition, no competition is meaningless. WE WILL SUPPORT THE SISTERS! Nothing is meaningless if you have pride.
But ok, that's my bias or personality, if any of you follow MLB baseball, I'm a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. If you are young than maybe you are thinking of the 2016 World Series champions, that the Cubs are a great or successful team. But that was the first time in 108 years, my dad died at the age of 84 some years ago, a lifelong Cubs fan, never having experienced a World Series championship. 2016 was great but my unforgettable memory was 1969 when I was 10 and the Cubs squandered a 8 1/2 game lead, a huge lead in MLB, with a month and a half left in the season. As September rolled around, it seemed that every day the Mets would win and the Cubs would lose. Then the Mets passed the Cubs in the 2nd week of September but I still believed. Each day was one day closer to mathematical elimination but I never believed it as a 10 year old fan. On that final day when the Cubs were mathematically eliminated when they lost or the Mets won, late in September, I went up to my bedroom and cried and cried and cried.
We do not have to cry about the sisters. They are going to succeed, hopefully Saturday in the meaningless play vs Japan, and more importantly one of them next week in the Founders Cup.

I hear you. It's a bitter pill to swallow to be sure. When I said that I didn't know how things would go with them this week, that was my way of saying I was worried that they wouldn't make it out of the preliminaries while trying to remain positive.
But in my worst case assessment, I didn't expect them to go 0-4. I mean, in the history of this event only the really, really bad teams get blanked like that, and I knew they weren't a bad team. I actually thought they would rather easily beat Australia and a disaster would be if they lost one of the matches if Minjee (who hasn't been at her best lately) was feeling it that day. I still can't figure out how they lost both matches there. To be fair they did play well and it was close, but I don't think they recovered from that shock.
In my figuring, the real challenge would be getting past Japan and Thailand. I thought Japan had the stronger team believe it or not. I figured the Sisters would take at least 1 from Thailand and that Thitikul would win because she always does, and then it would come down to, could they at least tie Japan?
But you know: it's team play, it's match play, there's a lot of intangible stuff going on there. Just ask the always favored US team about their Solheim results. I'm not going to be considering any of the Sisters as favorites for the big events coming up in the next few months until I see some more good results, but this terrible week doesn't mean it's all over for them either. Hwaiting!

I wonder who'll get flamed worse at home by finishing last in their group, ROK or Japan ... probably ROK since Korean netizens have had so much practice doing it in the last 15-20 years.
If Japan bombs today, "Philippines-born" will be her new prefix.

I wonder who'll get flamed worse at home by finishing last in their group, ROK or Japan ... probably ROK since Korean netizens have had so much practice doing it in the last 15-20 years. A few article quotes via translator: "In Gee Chun: I'm very upset but will do my best until the end" "It's cold, but I want to tell Hye-jin that she did a good job. It would have been better to win, but I think the people watching it would have been sad because we lost. We are also upset. I did it with the intention of working hard until the end... I'm upset, but I'm upset (if we lose) tomorrow, so let's play as good as we are." Are you motivated with a Japan vs. Korea battle? Choi Hye-jin replied, "I didn't think about it, but it turns out that it's the day I get stuck with the Japanese team. Even though I lost the first and second rounds, I don't think (my play was) too bad, so tomorrow I'm going to try my best to play (for) one (more) day." Jin Young Ko and Hyo-Joo Kim ahead of 'Korea-Japan Match': "I will win unconditionally" Kim Hyo-joo said, "I think I was very upset by the loss. I wanted to win so much, but I leave a lot to be desired. I have nothing to say but that it's too bad." Ko Jin-young said, "First of all, I tried to keep hitting better than Hyoju. I thought that way we could focus a little more on each other without worrying about the other side. I tried my best, but I think it's an unavoidable result." To this, Kim Hyo-joo replied, "It's true that (Ko Jin-young) has consistently hit better than me." "I think that (Thailand) team rode the flow well. I don't think we lost because (our) performance wasn't as good as that team." Commenting on the third day's match, Kim Hyo-joo said, "Shouldn't we really win that? I think we really have to win that." "Losing against Hyoju and Thailand hurts my heart so much and I try to hate golf," Ko Jin-young said, adding, "I will win tomorrow. I'm just going to think about winning." HappyFan: I mean, winning the match against Japan would be great, but I hope they use this more as motivation to win the Majors coming up.
