I'll come up to watch the 3rd round if there's any action. I'll sleep like a baby in my Fusion. It's highway robbery at these motels.

Californian's are ruining the US Open. Tall, thick US Open rough is a symbol of our military and the players are partying like it's Woodstock.

Sounds like Mike Whan learned the wrong lessons from his time on the LPGA. No, Mike, we don't want to see low scores at the fricking US (Women's/Men's) Opens!

I was watching the USO on SBS Golf earlier today. Wyndham Clark (with a name like that, he should be carrying a diplomatic pouch) teed his driver on the right side of a box, aimed left and launched a ball with 116 feet of fade cut slice ... and still found the fairway. Heck, I could do that ... just finish a hundred yards behind him. The only good news is Ricky ... hope he wins at 20-under ... gotta root for an ex-has been who could have taken the easy way out by joining The Circus.
Yep, the tinfoil hat people are right ... the fix is in ... the "elite event" qualifier is a con ... the USGA will use this event to foist a universal s*** ball on everyone. At least my two Adams wedges get out of Mike Whan's jail next year ... NOT that I have any business playing in a serious tournament. The SW is a piece of junk anyway, so I don't use it ... the 60 W is nice for short pop shots over greenside bunkers (if I don't chili dip it).

It was a 1.8 mile walk from Whan's parking lot to the driving range. No shuttle was available.

Hee Jeong Lim has withdrawn from the US Women's Open. She is also not on the KLPGA McCall tournament list on June 30th I hope that she will get over her injury soon

As I mentioned in the KLPGA thread for the Korea Women's Open, Hee Jeong has announced that she is taking the next month off to recover. Not surprising she isn't going to the US Women's Open.

I've been saying that a 2nd alternate placing at a USWO qualifier was worthless, but I may have been wrong. Hat tip to Nichols, who reported that Agathe Laisne (1st alt. in Atlanta) turned down an invite to Pebble (WHY???!!!), so they gave that spot to the 2nd alt. in Atlanta, Jenny Coleman. I had assumed that the USGA would exhaust all the 1st alternates from all locations, before turning to any 2nd alternates, but I guess that's not how they do it. The above article list four other 1st alternates who got in, including Kumkang Park who I saw at Echo Lake. She mentioned Lim dropping out, as well as Mone Inami (don't know her reason).

Yes, in a week and a half we'll see the sisters competing at Pebble Beach. They kept showing promos for the next tournament over the weekend during coverage of the KPMG, complete with Taylor Swift singing "Wildest Dreams." My wife was quite annoyed, according to my wife, she has a better voice than Taylor Swift. I agree that she does, I'm not bragging about my wife, she has quite a good voice, it's good but it's not near exceptional, but it's certainly better than Swift!
But let's get back to golf. On the long version of the promo, they showed a lot of historical footage of the US Women's Open but ended with three golfers. The short version was just those three golfers. If you saw it, you know which three golfers. Lexi (hasn't won in 4 years, I feel for her), Nelly (she's injured. I feel for her) and Rose (there's a new kid in town, ooh, ooh...) I wish Rose all the success in the world. Maybe she'll be the Tiger of the LPGA for the next two decades. It would be such a feel good story. Except Tiger wasn't the GOAT, he should have been, I wanted him to be in those days. But who won the most career majors, hint, Jack. Maybe Rose will be, or maybe "they will never forget you 'til somebody new comes along..."
Best wishes to all the sisters at Pebble Beach!

They five open spots left in the field of 156. The latest Rolex Rankings aren't up yet. So Young Lee is #79 and didn't play last week ... she might not care about going. Hong Kong, Su Ji and Ji Young Park have been well within the Rolex top-75 this year and appear to have no interest in going.

The little LPGA montage at the start of each day's Golf Channel coverage conspicuously no longer features Jin Young. The one this week did have In Gee, but that might have been in deference to her winning KPMG last year. I'll be interested to see if she's still in there next time.
This week it was Henderson, Danielle, Nelly and In Gee in that order. I checked the Meijer one: there, it was Nelly, Henderson, Minjee and Lydia in that order. I wonder how often they change these...? Interestingly, no Zhang yet, but I fully expect she will be front and center at the Open.
