Lydia has been pretty much "anti choke" up until now. I wonder if Jason Hamilton will be able to avoid the wrath of The Dragon Lady (Tina) or will he be in the parking lot at the Pure Silk event looking for a bag, I don't know if I'd be more afraid of Tina or Heather Cho (Korean Airline). Everyone has choke abilities in them. This was just Lydia's first real look at it. I am not in the least bit concerned with her - she could turn it around next week and win. She seems relatively unphased by stuff. I can't speak to the caddie situation, however. I would try to see if David Brooker wants to come back to the LPGA Tour.

The Queen did not play a full schedule last year, it remains to be seen about 2015. SE-mi RI-tired won't get the Magic Princess on the Olympic team, her stated goal. She usually starts the year in Asia, so far this is just like any other year. Meanwhile Lil' Se Ri started the day -6 through 6. -2 through 1 ! How the hell is Ha Na Jang NOT sponsored by Ha Na Bank ?!?!?!? Hrmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw numerous news articles at the end of last year stating that Se Ri's goal wasn't to play on the Korean Olympic team, but to hopefully coach it (and to retire in 2016). I think she realizes there are just too few slots on the team and too many Korean girls in front of her. But I mean, you wouldn't see an argument from me if she went on a tear for the next year and a half and ended up playing! LOL. In any case, I don't see any other person in Korea more well-qualified to coach than Ms. Pak, so if she wanted to Korea would be dummies not to give her that opportunity in Rio. Also, CONGRATS to NYC!! So happy for her that she broke the victory drought and was able to celebrate with all her chingoos on the 18th!

What's there to coach at the Olympics? After the cut-off....the # of country representatives is based on the performance of the countries players based on the world rankings. I expect all the S. Korean players....likely four....to be players with a good amount of pro experience and personal level coaching/instruction. The format, I believe, is individual 72 hole stroke play with individual medals....so what coaching is required? And would coaching outside the ropes be permitted.

Reading and listening to Na Yeon interview. She seemed really hurt by all the criticism of her golf, the last two years. By the Korean media and others.
She said that even when she had a top ten or top five finish. Nobody said good round. The interviewer even mentioned that she had a disappointing year, in twenty fourteen. I believe she was number thirteen on the money list, and had several top tens. Maybe not up to her expectation, but hardly a disappointing year.

NYC may have had her feelings hurt. I have some sound advice. Win the ANA, take a swim and your critics will swirl down the drain.

mr3putt:
Just fanboys?! I still remember the fangeezer who followed NYC at last year's Shop-Rite. I think she has sex appeal...often muted, but it's there. Her game is worth seeing up close, too...a fantastic pair of hands and precision ball striking with minimal effort. I can't believe there are trolls in Korea getting on her case for not winning in 2013-14.
I checked out the website of Coates Golf to see what they're about...women's-only golf equipment. Good luck Ms. Coates, it looks like good stuff, but really, it seems awfully crazy to me...butting heads with the current golf brands is a fast way to blow your life savings.

Just a few thoughts about the tournament! Ha Na Jang A very exciting and at times excruciating finish to the tournament. I was really hoping to see Ha Na Jang take this one; what a great start to her rookie season that would have been! I wonder if it would have convinced Hyo Joo Kim to play more events, realizing that getting Rookie of the Year just got a lot harder? Alas, Jang missed a crucial up and down on 17 that not only cost her the title but handed Ko the #1 ranking as well. I was really glad to see her make that sweet up and down on 18 to move to T-2nd. Re: The Hulk nickname. I admit I was the one who (inadvertently) gave her that name. I think it was 2013, and I wrote a KLPGA recap. This was when Jang was dominating the league, but on this day she was not having much luck. Then, after a frustrating early round, she suddenly went on a tear and crushed her opponents. I wrote something like: "Jang was going nowhere. Then, Hulk got angry. Hulk Smashed!" Others thought that was funny, and started referring to Jang as the Hulk. TBH, I don't like the nickname. It's not as flattering as Rocket, another name the SS Forum guys came up with (Ol68 I think). And unlike Rocket, it hasn't gotten any traction outside of this forum, and certainly not in South Korea. End of story! It is certainly true that Ha Na hits it a long way. She has been #2 longest driver on the KLPGA the last two years behind Sei Young Kim. Mirim Lee was third in 2013, and anyone who has seen her knows how long she is. Na Yeon Choi NYC has a magical knack of stealing defeat from the jaws of victory. I saw it almost happen again when she three putted on the 15th (how could she do that?). But congrats to her for clamping down and making an awesome up-and-down on 17. She got some big help from Ko on the last two holes, but the Choi of old might have still found a way to mess that up and she didn't, not this time! She seemed so nervous in her final interview! So happy to see her finally get that monkey off her back (and not at the expense of So Yeon Ryu, either!). Lydia Ko Congrats to her on becoming the #1 golfer in the world, although I'd rather Inbee had stayed there. Which means I should answer the question someone else posed above: Do I dislike Ko? No, but I have to be honest, I find her boring. Like the way 22putt feels about NYC, I feel about Ko. She's on the slow side, and always comes across to me as really indifferent to what's going on out there (of course she isn't, but that's just the aura she gives off IMO). Also, I lost a lot of affection for her when she publicly dumped her longtime coach after turning pro. It kind of ruined the impression I had of her as a happy-go-lucky kid. Sure, it makes sense to get a new coach for her pro years, but it seemed like it was a complete surprise to her old coach when she announced signing up with Leadbetter (ugh). Yeah, I know it was probably her parents who did that, but I've never heard her express any regret about the handling of that, either. But mainly, I find her boring because she is so drama free: she never seems to go through any kind of serious adversity. Everything seems to magically fall in line for her ALL THE TIME. I would much rather see a lady who has paid some dues become #1 than a teen. Even this week, she loses the event but still gets the #1 ranking by the skin of her teeth, with lots of help from other players who all shot exactly what they needed to shoot to make it happen. If Korda or Jang make any of the several putts they had that almost fell, or Ko doesn't sink that 45 footer on 15, Ko is not #1. I just get more engaged in someone, like Se Ri or So Yeon, who have sometimes big downs, but overcome them to achieve great things. Ko is mostly up and occasionally OK but never down. Pet Peeve What's the deal with the commentators constantly saying that Ha Na Jang is not a 'real rookie' because she played on the KLPGA for several years? Since when is a rookie only someone with little pro experience? Do you think they will ever say that about Charlie Hull, for instance? The fact is, Jang has played only a smattering of LPGA events, and has a fairly big learning curve to overcome in terms of courses, culture and language. Lydia (sorry, don't mean to pick on her!) played many more LPGA events than Jang before her rookie year, winning two, and I don't recall them ever going to these lengths to question her rookieness. The Rest Great week also for So Yeon Ryu, Mirim Lee and Amy Yang. Now THIS is the way for the Sisters to start the year; last year, they didn't win until June! Three of the top five (four if you count Lydia), the win, and two more top tens. Great week for Minjee Lee (12th) as well. And a holeout on the last for Inbee! Great job, Sisters!!!

NYC may have had her feelings hurt. I have some sound advice. Win the ANA, take a swim and your critics will swirl down the drain. Na Yeon won the "USWO" at Black Wolf Run. A course that is ten times tougher than Mission Hill.
Na Yeon and Amy was the only two players under par.

I went to a Super Bowl party. I hope that didn't doom the Hawks to lose! The new Rolex Rankings: So Yeon has moved ahead of Hyo Joo again (#7 vs. #8); Baek is still at #11, but Na Yeon Choi is now at #12. Still not good enough to be on the International Crown or Olympic team, but closer! The other Koreans in the top 25: 16. Mirim Lee 17. Sun Ju Ahn 18. Ha Na Jang 21. Amy Yang 22. In Gee Chun 25. Chella Choi

I can't believe they didn't go all out BEASTMODE for the win.....idiot call. I'm surprised the Seahawks fans didn't burn down Seattle last night, like Vancouver did in 2011. I guess you Yanks are smarter than we, Canucks.....lol.

I guess you Yanks are smarter than we, Canucks.....lol. Even I could tell that was a stupid play. Why on Earth would he pass it? If Beast Mode guy just charged into the opposing teem two or three times there's no way he wouldn't have bulled his way into the end zone. There's going to be a lot of sturm and drang at work today I'm guessing...
