If the internet was never invented, NYC would still throw it away. That exquisite swing goes haywire when there is heat. At least she doesn't have to worry about remembering to pack a bunch of deet to the shrunken head Olympics.
With the exception of Se Ri and Inbee, the real Koreans are not the closers you would expect. Right now Team Korea is in shambles.

Phil/Tony Is this course as boring as it looks on TV? Kinda expensive at $100/$120 for an outdated course with a low slope and rating. I can see why many pros don't attend and a small purse too. What % of spectators do you think attend for free with the free tix promo with a Shoprite card? Is Atlantic City tourism hurting? For the people walking around the course, I assume at least 95% got in free via the Shop-Rite card. I do recall seeing someone with a tag on his belt that had a $15 price, so he must have been from long distance. Considering all the missing "big" names, I think the turnout for a Friday round was pretty good. You could see that the "luxury boxes" (for lack of a better term) at the 17th and 18th greens were filled up and the bleachers to the right of the 18th green were about 3/4 filled during the mid-afternoon. I think this year's weird scheduling is the only reason why that had to contact the nursing homes to fill out the player field. BTW, the Symetra tour is playing the same week in Albany, NY, which they usually didn't do in the past. However, as I look at the Symetra leaderboard, I'm surprised it has a few players (ex: Natalie Sheary, Alexandria Jacobsen, Emily Gimpel) who played in the Thursday pro-Am at Galloway. That means they had to drive (can they afford to fly?) about 250 miles later that night for a Friday tee time. Or, did they go to Albany first to check out that course, then go down to AC, then go back to Albany? Either way, I hope they were well compensated...all three were MCs. I also saw Jennie Lee at the Wed. pro-am (Pines course) and she made the cut in Albany. I'm not into the Atlantic City scene...people say it's been dying for twenty years, but it's still around. I think the Borgata had a swag tent there for a giveaway of two tickets to see Kevin James later in June. However, I should probably do a bus trip to AC in the future. I did it once in the spring of 2009 and later received a voucher in the mail for two "free" nights (mid-week, off-season) at one of the big hotels (still had to pay $13 tax for each night). The days I picked were at the start of October. I didn't bother with the casinos, I just played three days of golf...Brigantine, McCullough's Emerald Golf Links (never again), and I forgot the third. As for the course being boring, I would say no, because the holes are not monotonous. The area surrounding holes 2 & 3 looks nothing like the spot for holes 17 & 18, and these four holes would not remind you of holes 11 & 12. If there's one similarity, I would say that several of the par-4s and par-5s (#1, 6, 12, 14, 16, and 18) have a left-to-right look off the tee box, which would suit the holiday hackers who visit the Seaview.

The course looks good to me. Isn't it a Donald Ross design? With a proper remodel it is US Open worthy.

Well, that didn't go the way I hoped. From tied for 2nd, 1 shot back, to out of the top 10 for Na Yeon Choi. Oh well, there will be better days...and I don't want to upset the Golf Gods by complaining. They have been on my side lately. Christina Kim with another great effort. Is she a Major threat? Hope I.K. Kim can keep playing well at KPMG.

Nordqvist, Nomura and Icher. Don't touch that dial!
I took two lady friends of my wife's to the driving range today for a golf lesson. It was their first time hitting balls. You realize how much there is to learn when you watch someone try to push a tee into the ground w/ their index finger.
This is what I covered. 1) We putted 1 foot, 2, 3, 4, 5...10 foot putts to demonstrate the declining % making putts after 4-5 feet (for beginners). 2) We talked about how decent amateurs only hit 1/3rd of greens. We have to plan for a miss. Long side vs short side chip is easier to get w/in 4-5 feet. 3) Full swing. Grip. Swing hard.
They had fun and want to try again soon. Does anybody have experience with adult beginners? Looking for any advice or tips to keep it fun. I probably have one more practice session and one 9 hole round before they give up for good or fall in love and it's all on me!

They are not paying Christina Kim enough to wear that hat backward, whatever it is.
I'm not even going to bring up playing with a dryer sheet in your visor.

She didn't say anything about what to do when Old Joe has his hands wrapped around your neck in the final round of a tournament.

Some guy on WRX...his daughter played in the pro-am...their pro was an asst pro from a prestigious NJ private track....he said they played just as many of her daughter's shot vs, the pro...what a joke....lol.

Does anybody have experience with adult beginners? Looking for any advice or tips to keep it fun. Everyone gives advice differently...just tell them what you know. Let them know to be realistic....IMO...it takes at least 20-40 hrs of advice and practice before they might even be mildly competent to go to a pitch and putt...never mind an executive course. Hopefully your wife's friends are good looking to keep your interest level up. I've given tips and hours of advice to 13-18 caps....it can be a frustrating exercise......it's hard to break their bad habits.

Oh boy...Anna N won....the internet is melting in joy....NOT. But shw went out and shot 64 to beat Nomura by one stroke...so congrats on the win.
Now off to the 2nd fake major. We've been in a heat wave this weekend...so the course is likely baked....it will play different come later in the week when things cool down with some risk of showers.

Tony/Phil Thx for your interpretation on Seaview....for me on TV ....it looks boring. As we all know ....TV never captures the real life experience.
No way will TV capture the REAL FEELING of Sahalee.

Hopefully your wife's friends are good looking to keep your interest level up. Yeah, I say the main lesson is "the best golfer is the one who is the most fun to play with", so keep up, stand still when I'm hitting and buy the beer It's true though, it's all about attitude and helping others enjoy their round. A friend of mine takes golf tech lessons once a week for a year. He hits it a little bit better but he's less fun to play with because he's always thinking and talking about his so-so swing. I'd be ashamed if one of my pupils wasn't fun to play with. I'm looking forward to the next hit 1,000 balls a day is actually pretty good advice. Thanks Na Yeon! LOL.

Well, that turned out to be a pretty quick watch! As soon as I turned it on and saw Inky four back and NYC 3 over par, that was pretty much it for this week's event!
Still, I'll give credit to IK for her best event of the season. Not the toughest field she'll ever face, but at least she didn't finish 40th or something. And though NY completely muffed it, she still somehow got an 11th, which is better than nothing I guess.
It's been a terrible run for the Sisters the past two months, but I've seen this script before. It just takes one of them getting hot at the right time (say, next week) and several more will jump on like a freight train. With Inbee on ice it pretty much falls to one of the KLPGA transplants to give the Sisters a kick in the pants. From the look of it these days, that means Sei Young or In Gee. I'll be there next week cheering them on.
Sisters Hwaiting!!!!

I'm not even going to bring up playing with a dryer sheet in your visor. There's a practical reason for that: it contains an ingredient that somehow keeps the gnats at bay. The last thing you want is to have those pesky things buzzing your face while you're trying to execute a shot.
