You were right about Stanford being the biggest supporter of Bivens English policy. Also Bivens was giving the higher paying tournaments the spot of long time sponsors. Moving them to less desirable spots. That started the LPGA to lose those tournaments. I believe that was one of the reasons for the players meeting.

3putt, you won't need to rant about Karen Stupples on the broadcast this week. She's in the field. (Of course there's a good chance she'll miss the cut and join the booth on the weekend.). Which says something about the strength of the field that they have to have a past Tour winner who hasn't played in TWO YEARS help make up the numbers.
Kevin And Stupples shots an opening round score of "80". Back to the booth on Sunday with Abbott (The GC's Worst Team). LMAO!!!!

I won't get to see any of this tournament but I did rewatch Burt Lancaster's tour de force as Lou Pascal in Atlantic City. Hang out at Best Buy this weekend to watch for free. I can't bear to watch this tournament at the Dolphin, let alone Best Buy, because Stacy is going to win the tournament easily.

I wasn't watching as much during the Bivens era. Did she have a group of players on her side of the language policy? i could see how it wouldn't be too contentious if everybody thought they could easily pass the requirements. Did it blow up from player opposition or because it was probably illegal and got terrible press? This is from memory, but I recall a couple of the American players saying it was a good idea. I'm remembering Angela Stanford being one of them, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Edit: Ah, nevermind, doesn't matter anymore anyway.

Yep...like prioritizing those newbie Ginn Tournaments over the long time Atlantic City tour stop...oh yeah, ShopRite! The only good memory I have of that fiasco was Mi Hyun Kim trying to hold that huge clam dish trophy at one of those Ginn events.

Got home about two hours ago...I followed these guys for 18 holes...un-effin'-believable in more ways than one... https://www.instagram.com/p/BGNVFz1pmKi I never attended the defunct Corning Classic, but now I know what it was like at the end of its run... who are these players?!!! I never saw so many stand-bags at an LPGA event before. I know the Olympics has thrown the 2016 sked for a loop. With a return to normalcy in 2017, I wonder if the Shop-Rite will be a sitting duck again...maybe they'll change the winner's trophy to a Pyrex pound cake dish. Followed Grace Na for nine holes... HOT...too bad you Pac NW guys that won't see her next week unless she buys a ticket! Mi Hyang's Wed. pro-am group at the Seaview Bay course...this am group played Galloway Nat'l on Thursday with some unknown pro. In order to play the Bay course, you had to buy the two-day pro-am package. I heard a volunteer say it cost 10 grand. I assume that's for the foursome as a group. https://www.instagram.com/p/BGIHuxhjEuC

I distinctly recall the last straw being the announcement (probably around June 2009) that LPGA's tournament in Hawaii was suddenly kaput. Morgan Pressel blew up about that publicly and it probably got the ball rolling fast for an immediate change. The actual vote to dismiss Bivens was not unanimous. I know Christina Kim supported her and I think there was one other player (Michelle Ellis?). This was just before the start of the USWO at Saucon Valley and ex-champ and militant battle axe Hollis Stacy flipped her lid over the firing. She said she was going to fly in from Denver and straighten out these girls. Oooooh!

This is from memory, but I recall a couple of the American players saying it was a good idea. I'm remembering Angela Stanford being one of them, but I'm not 100% sure about that. She said at the time it would only affect a very few players, which caused many (including me) to ask, then why make such a big deal about this? It was a real clusterf**k all around, basically. Here is a good summary. English Only policy abandonedRemember her statement that she didn't want to travel where a passport was required...in other words....why would I hope on a plane to play in front of some Asians. Or, in other, other words.....I've been a touring pro for years, I'm sick of long international travel, and I'm ready to cut back on my playing schedule.

Here is a good summary. English Only policy abandoned Bivens is an idiot....knows jack sh*t about golf....the BoD that hired her were a bunch of tools too....nuff said.As I recall Bivens came on board with some ideas that were good for the players. ?? Insurance , retirement , and bigger purses, new sponsors with a better deal for the LPGA. It seemed her biggest problem was extremely poor PR skills, offending most people she needed to negotiate with. The English Only policy was an extreme example of this. The concept of the players being able to interact in pro-ams, speak in interviews, etc, was not in itself evil. But the draconian way she presented it kind of summed up her insensitivity and lack of PR skills. Instead, play up the language supports in place, celebrate the diversity as Mike Wahn does pretty much every time he's on air.

Hmmmmm....another Merican supporting Yank racism. Yet Stanford was willing to use her passport to play the CWO, Women's British Open and Evian....hmmmm....just sayin. And all expenses are paid on the Asian swing with a guaranteed pay check.....vs spending $1000's on yourself and your caddy to travel to Canada, the UK and France for a potential trunk slam....I know The Smiling Buddha is not the brightest guy...is there something he's missing? Stanford simply should have said...I don't like tofu, bok choy or tripe.
