"It was my pleasure and honor to participate in the first UL International Crown in 2014 and at the 2016 Olympics, and I cannot describe in one word how amazing the atmosphere was to compete as a representative of my country,” said Park. “There are so many gifted and talented players in Korea and I thought it would be great if one of the other players was given the chance to experience the 2018 UL International Crown."
Replacing I. Park on Team Korea will be two-time major winner Chun, who joins S.H. Park, Ryu and Kim as the four representatives for the top seed and tournament host of the 2018 UL International Crown.
"Assuming I would not be qualified to play at the UL International Crown, I had already verbally committed to play at the HiteJinro Championship, a Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association’s major tournament. I have postponed this to a future date and decided to play at the UL International Crown this year,” said Chun. “I am going to do my best to have myself ready and make contributions to Team Korea and to the success of the UL International Crown. I am very grateful to UL and LPGA for this opportunity, and especially to HiteJinro for supporting my decision."
Two players from the Republic of Korea (Hye Jin Choi and Jin Young Ko) were ahead of Chun in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings on July 2 when the teams were announced but both declined based on prior commitments to compete in the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association major that week.

Maybe they accidentally misspelled Inbee's name on the entry sheet? Ingee... whoops! That should have been a 'b' not a 'g'! This strikes me as really odd. Firstly, Hite decided to play their Major tournament on the same weekend as the IC, which sounds like a pretty bad way to get people to watch your big tournament. Inbee was invited to play there and decided to do that instead of playing the International Crown. Then, because it's Hite, that also meant that Jin Young Ko, sponsored by Hite, was not able to play in IC. I'm not sure why Hye Jin said no, but she also turned down the spot, presumably because skipping a KLPGA Major is not a good idea for her. In Gee herself had promised verbally to play at the Hite, having been a former sponsoree of theirs, but I guess she wasn't as beholden to them and so was able to wiggle out of that pseudo-commitment. Mostly I'm not happy about this development. In Gee was not playing all that well at the time of the 2016 IC, but she was still playing better at that point than now. Inbee is not at her best, either, but she's INBEE. If you know anything about her, it's that she's clutch. Losing her is huge for Korea's chances of winning. In fact, I no longer consider them the favorite. In Gee and Inky are both struggling, Sung Hyun can be great or terrible, and even So Yeon is not at her best. On the other hand, I always love watching In Gee in action, so from that perspective: Go Korea!!!!

On the other hand, In Gee is now 5th in scoring average at 69.86.

I feel it has something to do with Korea losing face if their #1 player don't play in their major. As you stated, In Gee is not with Hite anymore making her the best choice. If In Bee plays in the Major, which I think she will, I'll have to believe my theory. With all that been said, I have no problems with the change.

I don't know the extent of IK's injury, but what if she is unable to make it to the UL? Would SeiYoung be next in line, or maybe Amy Yang? Our beloved Lucky 6 would be next, but what if she does really well at Evian and moves up in the Rolex Rankings, is it possible we could see Lucky 6 on the Korean UL team?

If a player ranked in the top four of a pre-qualified country is unable to compete in Korea for any reason that spot will be filled by the next highest-ranked available player from the Rolex Rankings as of July 2, 2018. Player substitutions will not be allowed once pairings are published for the first round of matches at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea. What's the possibility that both Sei Young and Amy will forfeit and let Lucky 6 into the field of UL International Crown?

I'm not a prophet, but in two years I wouldn't be surprised to see the next Korean UL team be comprised of SungHyun, JinYoung, HyeJin and JeongEun. . .

With Inky skipping the Evian, they'd better have an alternate plan in place for IC if she can't suit up. I wonder if Inbee would be willing to change her mind for the good of the team? It sounded like she mainly did what she did to give someone else a chance to play.
Neither Sei Young nor Amy have been super solid this season (other than Thornberry), but I would think one of them would get the nod if Inky can't do it and Inbee doesn't step in. Both played all right last IC; I think I'd take Sei Young if I had a choice.
I highly doubt Lucky Six will make the squad.
(PS - it probably won't happen, but can you imagine an 11th hour Willis Reed moment for Inbee? That would be epic; the star returns to lift her team to victory in front of the home crowd).
