I don't think SHP will need to try too hard to get on tour if she can play like Nabisco. I hate this rule, but isn't there some rule that if a player can earn enough money on tour by playing exemptions and whatnot so that she would be in the top 80 on the money list, she gets a tour card? With three great finishes so far, I would think Park is well on her way to that (unless they start disqualifying some of her tournaments for silly reasons, of course). I believe the rule is: Any non member who plays in full field events with a cut will have their money count. You need to be top 40 at year end on the money list to gain membership the next year...obviously rule 18 is in play but not for SHP. Because the ANA in an invitational....I don't believe SHP's earning count. SHP can also Monday qualify like what The Canadian Princess was doing last year too. Although SHP is great talent....Monday qualifying isn't always a given....any pro can get lightening in a bottle in one rd.

Sung Hyun earned $172,000.00 in 3 tournaments, top 80 for 2015 was $133,500.00. It may need to be better than top 80, Brooke Henderson didn't qualify until she won Cambia Portland Classic on 8/13/15. She finished top 5 in both USWO and Women's PGA and earned a lot more than $172,000.00. I vaguely recalled a number close to $400,000.00, may be top 40.

I wished SHP good luck in the US. She never looked up. She was all business. Se Ri came over to my niece during the 2nd round of the Office Depot and patted her on the head.

I wished SHP good luck in the US. She never looked up. What?....SHP's mentor is Stacy Lewis. This is not good...there's enough Yank racism against the Koreans...we don't need SHP to snub Jan Stephenson in the gallery and create another..."The Koreans are killing the tour" drama. This Sean guy needs to be more accountable for the Korean's behaviors...he should have had Dumbo be SHP's mentor.

She seemed surprised and elated to here that name here. She responded with a big smile.

Hello all, my name is Ryan, and I am new to this forum. It is very interesting to read all of your posts. I have gained many insights from reading them. Phil, I am a huge Mi Hyang Lee fan! Can I be the Vice President of her fan club? I went to the ANA Inspiration on Saturday for one reason only, MHL! I followed her for about 14 or 15 holes (missed 3 or 4 holes when I was eating lunch). Her aunt was very gracious and very nice! I sent MHL a fan letter earlier this year, and she responded right after she was cut from the Coates Golf Championship, and I was "blown away!" She sent me a personalized autographed picture and glove! She is a class act! Please keep posting your informative and interesting posts about Mi Hyang. I enjoy reading them! Hello Ryan, assuming you're from California, you can be the West Coast Regional V.P. Detailed MHL course reports in the future will be necessary to remain in good standing with the organization. Are you hitting any more events this year? There's Frisco, San Martin, Seattle, and Portland later this season. Hi Phil, thank you! That would be great! =) However, due to my job, I may not be able to hit any more events this year. Thus, I may have to settle for being an MHL mascot, which would still be an honor for me since she is my favorite golfer! =) I missed the Final Four because of MHL! If I am fortunate enough to hit more events this year, then I will most certainly file an MHL Report with you! Yes, I am in California, SoCal, to be exact. You're in New Jersey, right? What events are you going to hit, and will you be following MHL at those events?

How did you get her contact info?....I assume you sent it to her agent...MHL's contact info is not found on www.lpga.comThank you! I sent it to her home course in South Carolina before the 2016 season began. Once the season began, I did not expect her to respond, but she did respond after she was cut in Florida, which "blew me away" even more. I spoke to one of her relatives on Saturday in Rancho Mirage, and he told me that she has character.

That's is really nice of her to send you a auto pic and a glove. Ya....if you wanna know anything thing MHL....Phil is your guy. If not for Phil....MHL would not be on my radar...I only watched her for a bit at the practice green at the CP CWO....I never watched her play...and I was there for 6 days....about 8-9 hrs a day. So why do you like MHL?

In Gee has a lot of fans on WRX. If the general golf fan can't root for Dumbo in the US....it demonstrates the foolery of the Yanks. CP was stupid not to offer Dumbo an invite...especially since it was in Vancouver with a lot of Asian fans....or maybe they did and she could not play due to a conflict.

So why do you like MHL? www.thestate.com/sports/golf/article13930709.htmlThis link has a very nice article about MHL and her coach, Puggy Blackmon of USC. The article mentions her home course in South Carolina. Yes, Phil is definitely an MHL expert! All of his MHL posts are very informative as well as interesting. Yes, it was extremely nice of MHL to send me the auto pic and glove! Thank you again, Mi Hyang! =) In addition to her swing off the tee (her shoulder turn is extreme), which I can watch "all day," she appears to be a nice person with character and class. Based on the handwriting on the envelope that she sent me, it appears that she addressed it herself, which tells me that she does not "take herself too seriously," as many athletes today most certainly do. I appreciated her kind gesture so much (because she was under no obligation to respond to my fan letter) that I sent her a thank you card in return. Yes, on the back nine on Saturday in Rancho Mirage, there were some holes where it was only MHL's relatives, a couple of others, and me following her and Q Baek. =( In addition to wanting to see her play in person, I wanted to show my appreciation to her by supporting her play. =)

With three great finishes so far, I would think Park is well on her way to that (unless they start disqualifying some of her tournaments for silly reasons, of course). The criteria for qualifying for a Tour card via Category 10 on the Priority List is as follows:" Non-Member Top 40: Non-Members who, as of the conclusion of the last Official Tournament of the previous year, won an amount of money during such year in Official Tournaments with a cut, that is equal to or greater than the amount of official money won by the Member who was in 40th place on the Money List at that time. Priority based on the amount of money won in such tournaments. Ties will be broken by the earliest time at which the Non-Member achieved the amount of money necessary to be included in the category. A player must be eligible for and accept LPGA membership to be included in this category." Last year Pernilla Lindberg was #40 on the Money List at $417,225. Sung Hyun is exempt into the USWO so a high finish there will help tremendously and if she gets into the British and Evian as well based on her KLPGA standing she will have a shot at earning her 2017 card. Category 10 no longer applied to Brooke once she won in Portland last year as she asked for her card immediately in Category 7 (Non-Member Winners - where In Gee Chun also resides) but in doing so she's ineligible for 2016 Rookie of the Year.

Yes, I am in California, SoCal, to be exact. You're in New Jersey, right? What events are you going to hit, and will you be following MHL at those events? The Shop-Rite/Acer in Atlantic City is my annual golf trip. They'll have the USWO in NJ next year, so I'll get that one too. Last year, I also had the USWO and the KMPG. In case you missed it, I have numerous posts in the Tournament Report section of this site. It only goes back to 2015 because the old site for this forum got wiped out. However I saved my reports going back to 2005. Here's my first one with Mi Hyang from 2014 Shop-Rite pro-am: After Lydia teed off at 8:30 AM, I decided to track down Mi Hyang Lee’s 7:10 AM group and check her out. If you go to the ‘maniareport’ video collection on Youtube, you’ll find many instructional videos by Lee.
Danielle Kang’s 7:00 AM group exited the 9th green for the 10th tee box. Danielle sat down on an unused wooden block tee marker. “Isn’t that uncomfortable?” asked a caddie. She said no - it made her back feel better. Soon afterward, Mi Hyang Lee from the next group dropped by for a chat in Korean with Kang. Lee was in an orange rain suit.
It was clear that Kang would have to do all the heavy lifting for her group. The first three amateur tee shots were a collection of hooks, slices, and grounders. The fourth amateur, a large fellow of limited flexibility, grazed the top of his ball with the driver...it travelled about three inches.
I started following Mi Hyang’s group at #10. While they waited to hit at the par-3 11th, I picked up a broken tee from the grass and looked it over. Then I heard a voice say, “Here”. I looked up and Mi Hyang was giving me an autographed ball. It’s an orange #3 Volvik stamped WHITE COLOR S3 on one side and MI HYANG on the other. Then I took a swing video of her tee shot at #11. Maybe I’m wrong, but imagine Angela Park in her prime...but better! She uses Callaway Apex Pro irons.
Speaking of the 11th hole, this is one of the four holes with new tee boxes this year, although they’re not in use for the tournament. This is good news for the ladies, as the new tee box is at 230 yards...the regular one is 185 yards. The new tee at #12 is around 30 yards behind the regular one and the new tee at #5 is way back...40-50 yards at least. Will the LPGA use these tee boxes in the future?
While waiting at the 14th tee, Mi Hyang invited me to the food grill, where I wolfed down an Italian sausage sandwich with gooey chopped onions. IS SHE THE BEST?! One of the ams asked Mi Hyang where her U.S. base was. She said Columbia, SC. She has a Gamecock headcover on her driver and was asked if she attended the U. of South Carolina. She said no, the headcover was from her coach. Her English is very good.
I left Lee’s group for a while and meandered about and picked up swing videos of Nicole Castrale, Belen Mozo, and Maria Uribe. Reunited with Mi Hyang and followed her group to the end at #18. I think they finished at -9, which might have been the top score at that time, but I knew it wouldn’t hold up. I think the winners finished at -15.

Phil: You must be a stud muffin. WTF....you follow a pro for one hole and she hands you a autographed ball....I can see and have seen pros hand an unsolicited ball to a kid....but handing a ball to a random old fart. And then invite you to the food grille after only 3 holes. I'm especially surprised this occurred during a pro-am when her full attention should be on her am playing partners who shelled out good money....were her playing partners a bunch of dbags?
