I wonder if the Ana Major would have been more recognizable if they had retained the Dinah Shore name. Just added the different sponsors name to it. For instance the... Kraft Nabisco Dinah shore. That way each winner would be recognized as a Dinah Shore Major winner.
I was playing golf with a friend, a while back. He asked me why was I wearing an Ana Japan Airline hat. He did not know that it was the name of a LPGA Major Tournament.

I agree that playing the final round of a major well while pairing with the reigning No.1, may be the straw that broke the camel's back for In Gee. Too soon! Please don't use any 'back breaking' analogies when talking about In Gee. Thanks! Points taken!

That's why you need to come to ANA. Good place to watch golf and no one is in your way. I like fanboying, but not enough to hop on a plane...though I could also play golf too....I know a guy I might be able to rent a house. BUT My next bucket list golf is Bandon Dunes...I'm waiting for our peso to improve and likely will go in Feb when things are cheaper.

Hello all, my name is Ryan, and I am new to this forum. It is very interesting to read all of your posts. I have gained many insights from reading them. Phil, I am a huge Mi Hyang Lee fan! Can I be the Vice President of her fan club? I went to the ANA Inspiration on Saturday for one reason only, MHL! I followed her for about 14 or 15 holes (missed 3 or 4 holes when I was eating lunch). Her aunt was very gracious and very nice! I sent MHL a fan letter earlier this year, and she responded right after she was cut from the Coates Golf Championship, and I was "blown away!" She sent me a personalized autographed picture and glove! She is a class act! Please keep posting your informative and interesting posts about Mi Hyang. I enjoy reading them! Welcome. How did you get her contact info?....I assume you sent it to her agent...MHL's contact info is not found on www.lpga.com

No, I don't remember that...but I do remember when they were a serious golf brand. Around '89 I bought a TA Silver Scot 986 Tour persimmon driver (TT R300) from my local Las Vegas Discount Golf (long gone). The face is taller than normal at 1.875 inches...I figured it would reduce my chances of missing the ball. Johnny Miller used heavily refurbished 1947-ear Silver Scot irons when he won the '73 USO. TA is almost nothing now, just the house brand for The Sports Authority. Their store in East Brunswick is shutting down...I checked it out a couple of weeks ago...wasn't crazy about what they had left, but I should check it again this week if they're still open...maybe the discounts will be better. ********** Speaking of antiques, masters.com temporarily has the entire TV broadcast from the final round of the '86 Masters. Even with stone age gear, Seve drove the ball 302 at the 15th hole and Norman hit it 310. TA Silver Scot 845's irons were on my short list in 1993...but I bought the Wilson Ultra 45's...I guess I want a brand name and I liked the Firestick shafts cause the were mid kick....back in those days your choices for stock shafts were TT DG's or TT DG's....lol...I didn't care much for a high kick shaft although I could have played them. I'm recording the 86 Masters on GC later.

Later my opinion was that the Lynx were junk. Did you ever hit the Wilson Whale? The wood one. It might have been one of the last popular wood drivers other than the Pings.

Sung Hyun Park was the real revelation to me. I made sure to watch her after mr3putt posted her video. I guess she doesn't want to play here. The sound of the ball coming off her driver was louder than any other player I saw. The Ping G30 is one of the loudest, if not the loudest driver out there....even the Smiling Buddha can generate enough speed to make it sound like a cannon....GIMME should dump the PXG's and go back to Ping...she should also quit school and concentrate on golf....I think she likes goofing around at school vs. beating balls 12 hrs a day. If I had to short list drivers....it would be the G30, M1 or XR 16. Too bad I'm too cheap to shell out the money.....so I'll stick to my used $80 Jetspeed....with a free Speeder shaft from a friend. I bought a 3H Cally X2 Hot off Craigslist for $50 with an Aldila Tour Blue stiff shaft after reading reviews....it took me a while to adjust to it and I thought the shaft maybe a bit stout...but now that I'm taking a more deliberate and deeper back swing to load and chase after it...the club is a rocket if I nut it....I've kept my Stage 2 3W HL in the trunk cause I've recently hit some poor shots with it...I use to love the club. If I pure the 3H....it can carry about as far as a poorly struck driver....I think I'm giving up 10 yards by not getting fitted for a driver...but...if I hit a poor shot....I'll get poor results from a fitted driver too. I doubt my scores would lower too....scoring is all about scrambling and minimizing poor decisions.

Park is in her third year on the KLPGA. It's fairly typical for big stars to stay on tour three years (In Gee did); those who come over sooner (like Q Baek, who only played one year in Korea) tend to struggle a bit when they come over. I think she felt that last year was too soon to come over, but it looks to me that she is mentally preparing to make a run at the tour for 2017. I expect both she and Jin Young Ko to attempt to get on tour next season. I thought the KPLGA had a policy that all players needed to play for 2 years before they could leave...I guess it's like the military commitment for gals...lol. Yup....SHP & JYK need to attend Q school so they can beat up on the Mericans.

I said before...the 2012 CN CWO was packed...huge galleries...with a deeper tour and The Canadian Princess winning the week before.... galleries should have been larger last year vs, 2012....the galleries were approx 30% of what they were in 2012....there is absolutely no explanation. They could have called the CP CWO....the Brooke Open....it would not have made a difference.

The wood one. It might have been one of the last popular wood drivers other than the Pings. Yup....I had a Killer Whale from the 90's....I must have bought it used and cheap. I can't remember if I had the 3W or a driver which I cut down the shaft....I used it off the tee if I wanted a shorter and more accurate shot vs. my GBB. It was a short term experiment....it sat in the garage more often than in the bag. I did like the graphite Firestick shaft...I had steel in my Ultra 45's. I paid $600 for my Ultra 45's in 1993....then $70 for used X-14's (3-6 irons) off ebay in 2004, then in 2008 $135 for custom made Golfsmith 7-PW....then $135 for used TM HT Burners from 3balls.com in 2011 and then paid $275 for new Cobra Amp Cells last year. From 1978 to 1992....I played my dad's Confidence irons...I think he paid $500 in 1976 for them and paid $125 for a graphite shaft in the 70's for his Wilson driver that I inherited too...these clubs are in the garage somewhere. I'm still using his 1970 Ping Anser as my main putter. Competition, the internet and inventory of used clubs is killing the golf industry.

It's a surprise that with only 3 starts In Gee is No. 4 on Player of the Year list; ahead of Lexi who has played 6 tournaments thus far.

I don't think SHP will need to try too hard to get on tour if she can play like Nabisco. I hate this rule, but isn't there some rule that if a player can earn enough money on tour by playing exemptions and whatnot so that she would be in the top 80 on the money list, she gets a tour card? With three great finishes so far, I would think Park is well on her way to that (unless they start disqualifying some of her tournaments for silly reasons, of course).

At the first hole on Sunday, Jenny Shin hit her tee shot into the right rough near the ropes where I was standing. It looked like she had no shot because there were a couple of trees ahead of her with low overhanging branches right in her sight-line. Her caddie said in a British or Australian accent that she had 131 to the front and suggested punching a 6. Jenny then asked if she could get a 7 there in a similar British/Australian accent. They proceeded to go back and forth using this British/Australian accent and I'm thinking, "WTF!? She went to Torrance High! Right here in Southern California!" Anyways, she went with a 7 and hit an incredibly low punch that went under the branches, landed well short of the green, but rolled up onto the green and stopped about pin high. So what's the deal with this accent? I looked on youtube and she's talking like a SoCal girl in this video from 6 years ago.

I know Happy considers Jenny a Sista....but I think she's a fake Korean....she's about as Merican as apple pie. There was some drama in Mexico (I think 2 years ago) about Jenny trying to get her loop onto a full shuttle bus....no way a real Korean makes a fuss like that. I read your WRX post about the ANA...you should post it here....the members will enjoy the read.
