Pouring water or champagne on the winner is bush league. Jumping into Poppie's Pond is downright embarrassing. All the participants should be heavily fined and suspended if necessary. Why not let your friends and peers celebrate in your victory. However I guess coming up and giving her a hug or some other gesture will be just as good.

Keep these comments up and it will be a long and silent car ride with SayYouSeRi to the fake major. The ANA is such a great major filled with tradition....tradition that's copied from the REAL 1st major...the Masters. Hmmmm.....replicated ANA traditions include....invites to notable Am's, coveralls for the loops and a past Champions dinner. But people are willing to pay $100's to gain admission into Augusta....Mission Hills....not so much.

In a way I like the camaraderie, but rivalries are what make sports great. Palmer didn't pour champagne over Nicklaus' head. Se Ri certainly didn't like Super Peanut and vice versa. I think it would be better if we could identify which Koreans hate one another. I'd like to know why Inbee and SYR don't like Ko.

I knew there was tension between Se Ri and Peanut, which the Korean press inflated by showing pictures of Se Ri eating lobster while Peanut was finding her feet on tour...which I thought was misleading based on where they came from BEFORE Se Ri had her LPGA success. Wasn't Se Ri taking the bus to events and not from any affluent background. But I thought over time they worked that out. Also, Inbee and SYR don't like Lydia. Is that real? Why? Is she too...I don't know, bubbly and energetic for their natures. Just asking. I hadn't heard this.

I could be delusional about all of this but I'm pretty sure that Se Ri and Peanut didn't really like one another.
I do know that SYR said the real number one player is Inbee. I think the real number one player is the one who is ranked number one, so I assume those two don't think much of Ko and her mother.

I don't mind the celebrations when you win a major. But when the person won multiple times and they win the Nokia Western Alabama Open? It's a little much.

Interesting. In So Yeon Ryu's favor, I would say that maybe she's just closer to Inbee and thinks that since Queen Bee won the same amount of events as Ko last year on the LPGA and won 2 Majors as opposed to Lydia's 1 and had a lower scoring average that Park is the best. I get the ranking argument and its valid but both sides have a case. In tennis, there was a year where the ITF gave women's player of the year to the then #1 ranked Caroline Wozniacki. However, the WTA gave POY that season to Kim Clijsters. Caro won more titles, but also played 8 more events than momma Kimmie who was selective in where she played racking up more points than Kim. Clijsters also won the US Open and the Tour Finals while Caro still hasn't won a Major or Tour Final. I agreed with the WTA naming Kim POY, but I still love Wozniacki. Anyway, my point is there are two sides here that are valid. But I don't see that SYR doesn't like Ko just because she thinks Inbee should be seen as #1.

I don't mind the celebrations, provided a) they take place *after* the final group has exchanged pleasantries, and b) the level of celebration is proportional to the importance of the win.
'Absolutely hate when the other players rush on to the green and dump beer/champagne on the winner, and then the other players in the group have to hug a sticky competitor. Wait 60 seconds for the group to exchange pleasantries, and then you can celebrate.
Also, by all means celebrate a first victory, or a first major, or the 2nd major in a row. But going overboard for a player winning for the 12th time at some minor event is ridiculous.
That said, I don't think this past week's celebration was over the top. HJK was not in the final group, so the festivities took place after the fact.

I'm glad Winbee and SYR don't like Ko....rivalries are better when they don't like one another. Seems like these two aren't the only ones who don't like Ko. Ms. Pouty Face is mouthing off again....she's such a whiner. Quit worrying about what Lydia may or may not think about herself....concentrate on your own game and maybe you might not finish 2nd again. "Ko might be one of the most well liked No. 1s in the history of the men’s or women’s game. Stacy Lewis was asked if there’s any frustration in trying to overtake a player who is so well liked and so unassuming." “It’s a little frustrating,” Lewis said. “I think she knows how good she is, but I wish she would kind of own up to it sometimes, to be `I'm the No. 1 player in the world, and I'm pretty good.’ But she's really humble about it, and she doesn't really want anybody to think that about her. So it's almost frustrating in a way, because you want her just to be a little more confident in it and a little bit more, `I'm the best player here and I'm going to win.’ You know she’s thinking that inside, but she just doesn't really portray that.” http://www.golfchann...as-lpga-season/

Since when do So Yeon and Inbee not like Ko? Ko gave So Yeon some candy bars in her locker, and So Yeon thanked her on instagram: So Yeon Gets a Gift from Lydia

Agreed. I just think SYR may honestly believe Inbee had the better year overall, no disrespect to anybody else.
Se Ri and Peanut...I remember there was tension there...don't know if eventually they became friendly.
Would openly disliking rivals be good for the LPGA, a la Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova? I think it depends on who it is. If two players the mainstream American sports media don't pay attention to don't like each, then who cares? Only diehards like us will know that. But if two media darlings start throwing daggers through the press that could gain some traction.

I must have been wrong about SYR and Lydia, based on SYR's tweet today. twitter.com/1soyeonryuCome on...... don't be so naive. This is another scheme hatched up by The Dragon Lady....Tina knew that Lydia wouldn't be well received on tour as a member because she could thrash them all starting at 15 yrs old Because all the gals are catty....lead by the Yank diva's and Lydia doesn't want any drama....don't you remember at her 1st tournament in 2014....Lydia had chocolates put into each pro's lockers waiting for them. If Lydia was sincere about this gesture...she would have personalized each post-it with the recipient's name...which she didn't do....look at the generic note left for SYR. I wouldn't be surprised that Lydia's road manager or sister has learned how to forge her hand writing and wrote those notes.....so Lydia can focus her time on beating balls than let her hand cramp up writing notes....The Dragon Lady is NOT STUPID.

Go to the above link, search on Dottie Mochrie, click on the Oct. 5, 1992 article ("Unfriendly Fire"), and you can read about her 6-year grudge with Danielle Ammaccapane...or read it below.

I looked at SYR's Instragram acct...she's using Ian Baker Finch as a golf coach/mentor....WTF....the same IBF who in 95 & 96 missed or WD'd in all 29 events he entered and cried in the locker rm after shooting a Christine Song like 92 at the 1997 Open Championship.
These Sista's really need someone to watch their backs....1st the above and then always getting shaft for poor pairings in LPGA events. Hmmmm....I think this is an opportunity for The Smiling Buddha to make some coin as a tour consultant/agent for the Sista's. You'll all thank him when HYP is always featured in a premier group.
