Wow....a lot of N/S's and Belen is still deep down the alternates list.
I'm surprised some FLA based pros are skipping this event. I think Se Ri is toast this year....I think maybe 20 events top at most....likely fewer....anyone have any any updates on her physical health?
I'm surprised Gulbis didn't get a sponsor exempt as a Pure Silk gal.
Tony Considering you've got inside access. Do you know the status of John Gulbis? Did he pass, divorced or did Natalie have a falling out with him? Natalie will tweet pics with mom...but I've yet to see John on her social media feeds.
When was the last time you saw him on tour? Barb was in Portland in 2013...but no John ....and John use to always show up with his Sacramento pals in Portland.
I asked Greg Sheridan at the CP CWO but he said that John didn't have a passport...but I got the feeling it was not a truthful answer. I saw and spoke with John in 2004 in Niagara Falls and chatted with him in Portland too.

In Gee mentioned a month ago she would start her 2016 campaign at Coates, a tournament not too far from her home base in Florida.
I haven't figured out why she would skip Pure Silk; being a rookie and all and Bahamas isn't that far away.
Hope it turns out to be a good decision.

Randall Mell wrote for Golf Channel that Lydia Ko skips Pure Silk, because of the wind....... The Dragon Lady should fire Deadbetter...I can't believe he ran Lydia under the bus with the comment that Ko doesn't like wind. It's unbelievable that Tina drank BJ's Kool-Aid to sign up to Lead Poisoning.

I'm curious if the weather is a factor. They've had rather bad luck there with the rains and winds. 'Not a good way to start the season.

I wonder if In Gee has been using her good friend Hyo Joo Kim as a sounding board. Perhaps getting an idea of which events she might like based on Kim's rookie experiences? Of course, Kim didn't go to Bahamas last year, so In Gee's on her own on that one!

from my blog: LPGA Stars Frolic In The Sun A Week Ahead Of 2016 Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA ClassicA handful of LPGA players, including Solheim Cup hero Gerina Piller, spent some time frolicing in the sun a week ahead of the 2016 Pure-Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic. They partied, made elaborate costumes, learned about local culture, played with pigs and fed iguanas. It’s all fun and games until the real competition starts this upcoming week. The defending champion is Sei-Young Kim, who won the first of ther 3 titles last year on Paradise Island. It’s been a year since she beat my favorite active player, Ariya Jutanugarn, (and Sun-Young Yoo) in a playoff. Gerina Piller finished tied for 7th at 11-under, 3 shots back of Kim, Yoo and Jutanugarn.

The narrator said "128" golfers would be here, but that can't be right...the LPGA says the field is 106 plus two Monday qualifiers.

I guess they did not want to replace all the dropouts. Either that or they were afraid that they would have to pronounce the Thai players name. Bummer because Belen need's to get in as many tournaments as she can. To improve her standing. Then again they may be worried about the bad weather, which could affect play.

How does Pancake get an invite over Gulbis, a Pure Silk ambassador....unless her endorsement expired.

Does Mike Whan get too much credit for the LPGA turning around? I don't want to take anything away from what his team has accomplished, they are probably awesome. I like them. But what were some of the other circumstances that lead to the rebound (beyond just the broad economy). One could get the impression that it was the asian players, events and sponsors that really filled the void after 2009.
