If the Europeans weren't planning on conceding, they shouldn't have walked off the green so briskly. Even the rules official yelled as if the hole was halved. If the Europeans truly didn't want to concede the putt, Lee should have had the option to putt it out. It's gamesmanship. I honestly don't care - people yell about sportsmanship a lot in events like these, and I think this actually gives the event some boost. Still, Pettersen doesn't gain any friends with this.
HOWEVER:
People who are saying this "tarnishes" the European win haven't been watching. This match isn't the reason the US will lost. The US's ability to putt in clutch spots is the reason.

The US took some steps towards respectability this year. The fans at tha ANA will continue their love affair with Pettersen of course. Elsewhere it will be harder. She is truly a miserable individual who's self-loathing was evident from day one. Her inability to capitalize on her potential is punishment enough.

Pettersen is now walking away early on pretty much every hole. Apparently Carin Koch has a "heated discussion" with her. Pettersen in full blown b**ch mode right now.

Rumor has it that Bum Bum (0-4-0) left the golf course an hour ago to scout out a fishing spot on the Rheine...looks like she might miss a big party.

There is nothing quite like a flagrant piece of bad sportsmanship that disrespects the spirit of the game and the opposing team to motivate the opposition.
The result was justifiable payback for something that, though it may have been a technically correct interpretation of the rules, was contrary to the spirit of the game – a thoroughly shameful abuse of the rules.
Hopefully, this will be a lesson for the future; the spirit of sportsmanship should be the guiding light on the golf course for events of this nature.
Any player who resorts to tactics that bring disrespect both to the team they represent and to the spirit of the game should automatically be disqualified from qualifying for future team events.

Having watched the replay, there is no question Lee was in the wrong. Pettersen should have just let her have the putt after the mistake. It will haunt her for the rest of her life. The only person who should be banned is the referee. When Whan wakes up and makes US vs. Korea the main event, I can't imagine Inbee, Dumbo or NYC would have been as obstinate as Suzann.

That was some of the most exciting golf I've watched in awhile! During the last hour or two it seemed like every match had the possibility of turning the final outcome. Gerina Pillar's putt on 18 was the defining moment to me. Very proud of the US girls: taking the high road (mostly) in interviews re "the incident", Gerina's putt, Angela gutting out the win, no face paint and few hair ribbons, Cristie Kerr steamrolling Hull after being 3 down, no chanting "USA" over & over, Morgan getting an important early full point. YEA!
Re "the incident" 1. Allison made a mistake picking it up. .2. I think Charley Hull made a mistake in not verbally giving the putt, because her actions seemed to indicate the hole was over-turning and walking off. 3. The official made a mistake in that the rule allows for the ball to be replaced and putted out IF there is confusion on the player's part on whether the putt had been given. And there sure seemed to be confusion on Allison's part about that. 4. Suzann does not come off looking good in this!

Ha ha... As soon as I saw a news story about an 'incident' involving the Euros, I knew at once it had to have been caused by Pettersen. That chick is a real piece of work.
I guess this is what the US squad always needed: someone to piss them off enough to get them past tripping all over themselves. Congratulations to them!

Im glad Inkster gave Mannika an earful today. Sorenstam treated Se Ri like garbage throughout her career. She is a con artist and it is hard to believe such a pill is so beloved on the Golf Channel. She is an overrated cold fish who set women's golf back 20 years. LMAO...that's gold baby...just gold. fanofseri......NO ONE on this site likes you....I'm the only one who acknowledges and appreciates your loathing sense of humor...KUDOS!! So what did Annika do to treat Se Ri so poor...I need facts. Annika was my fav player when competing but I wish she and Karen Stupples would just go away. I think Annika was on peds...at one time she had a mustache.

LOL. Good thing Happyfan has a sense of humor.....if you posted that vid on WRX...you be sitting in the can with me. I think that is from Team America - World Police. I can only imagine how many parents walked out with their kids 2 minutes into the movie...expecting a kiddie show with a bunch of puppets.....good thing the sh*tting and Golden Shower scene was well into the movie. Kim Il Jong skit was so funny..."I'm so Wronely"
