In non-sister moves it's not surprising to see Nelly and Charley going on a run today. Non of the front runners are out and no TV coverage yet in the UK so I will check in later to see what the conditions are like.

Jin Hee is having a crap day and Saigo has caught her. I'd say the odds are very slight at this point for Im to capture ROY. Remember, she not only has to beat Saigo by a significant amount, she also has to have a high finish, and neither is happening.
Haeran also is not having a great day, although she's only a shot behind Furue at the moment. Furue is over par herself. So that award is still in play.

I'm pretty sure that Haeran needs to finish no worse than five strokes behind Furue to hang onto the Vare, but I'm open to correction if I miscalculated something. I've pretty much given up on Jin Hee for the Suggs, and on Jin Young for keeping her streak alive for consecutive years of at least one victory...

Jin Young is still playing OK (though she isn't making any birdies right now), so I'm not counting her out just yet. Although tbh I have a feeling someone is going to run up a big lead today. At the least, JYK needs to get on the leaderboard, because there are a lot of big names up there: Korda, Hull, Green, Lydia, etc. She can't pin her hopes on a big comeback on the weekend.
If Haeran hangs in there today and has a Saturday like last week, she'll probably have the Vare. But I'd feel happier if she were a couple of shots better right now.

I haven't seen a single photo from or article about the LPGA Rolex awards on the Korean web. I guessed that no Koreans were actually invited (unless you count Lydia), and when I looked at the awards, none of them won one. So I dug around and found a page. Nope, no Koreans other than Lydia. Might be the first time in twenty years that that has happened 2024 Rolex Awards Gallery

The cream is rising to the top re Nelly, Jeeno, Ronni. Yealimi bounced back nicely today but a poor R1 knocked her out early.

Hae Ran shot another 71 and is still 2 shots behind Furue. Im shot a 75 and her ROY quest is almost certainly done. EDIT: my mistake, Furue is still on the course and has now moved three ahead of Ryu. I hate to say it, but I think the Sisters aren't going to get any of their wish list items this year.

Round 2 is in the books; overall not too bad for the Sisters. For a brief moment it looked like Angel Yin was going to run away with it, but she stumbled a little coming in and only finished at 10 under. Narin had a bad putting day, but still managed an even par round and tied for second at 8 under. Her Jin had another strong 68 to also move to -8, while the defending champ Amy Yang is lurking at 6 under. Jin Young does not seem to like the last few holes, but she's still in the top ten at 5 under. Furue made a few birdies to finish and moved to six under, now four up on Haeran. I think tomorrow will tell the tale. If Haeran manages a strong round, she'll probably get the Vare. If she struggles again, I predict she will come up short. She's had such a great year, I would love her to cap it with something great. Sisters hwaiting!

Same old LPGA, make it easy for Nelly Korda to score two decent rounds and get another win. With all the golfers that scored in the sixties the first round almost every one of them were over par the second round. No way that a golfer that scored even par the first day and minus six the second day should have advanced to third place. Hye Jin Choi scored sixty-eight, but she really needs to stop playing so much break on putts that's not there.

No way that a golfer that scored even par the first day and minus six the second day should have advanced to third place. Hye Jin Choi scored sixty-eight, but she really needs to stop playing so much break on putts that's not there. The wind was a big factor out there today. It was light early and strong / blustery late, and Nelly benefitted by teeing off more than two and a half hours ahead of all the golfers that scored in the sixties the first round. I was the walking scorer for Yuka Saso and Maya Stark today (who teed off more than an hour after Nelly), and Yuka in particular seemed to struggle with her approaches in the wind. She missed 7 greens, 4 of which ended up with bogeys. Fortunately she did have a nifty chip-in birdie on 11. She got away with grumping her way up the fairway on that hole (multiple club thumps), but continued missed greens later seemed to put her in a funk. The resulting disinterested looking chipping and putting led to a run of 3 bogeys. Speaking of grumping up the fairway, Yealimi Noh did that in spades on #14 Thursday. As I followed her up the fairway after she pull-hooked her drive into the bushes she abused the course with her driver and foot scuffs the whole way to her ball, arriving minutes after her caddie! A drop and 6 strokes later she had an 8 and her round was toast. One to watch on the weekend might be Lucy Li. I know there are big names up ahead of her on the leaderboard, but if she can sink some putts she could make some noise. When I scored her and Yealimi on Thursday she was a machine from tee to green. She had at least 6 narrowly missed putts that day, including 2 nasty lip-outs, and could easily have scored much better. After another decent round today she is inside the top 10. Tomorrow I'll be out with Nataliya Guseva and Jennifer Kupcho, with Lucy Li and Charley Hull in the group behind us. I look forward to hearing about Lucy's round from my wife, who will be scoring that group.

Thanks for the update I didn't know about the high winds as the reasons the late scores were so high. My apology to the late golfers, I usually mute the broadcast so they might have mentioned it.

Jenny Shin had a moan on Twitter this morning saying it's been a brutal week and that was before going out in 41 today - I bet she can't wait to head to Oz. I'd love Hye-Jin to win seeing as she's not won yet on the LPGA. In other sister news In Gee's had her haircut - it's going to take me some time to adjust but she remains my fave!
