Regarding the new venues in 2025, anyone here been to Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass? Jeez, couldn't they come up with a longer name than this? It's about 10 miles south of Tempe.
El Caballero CC is a classy one-off while Wilshire CC is being renovated.
Hat tip to the people who found Standard Insurance to rescue that dog in Portland ... for whatever reason, they don't have a golf course yet. I'm assuming they don't have to dodge homeless encampments in Portland anymore ... true?
Mississauga G & CC is a new site going back to 1973 ... the men's Canuck Open has been played there six times going back to 1931.
It's funny to see TBD for BMW/Korea ... I wonder if they're waiting for the release of the KLPGA sked, so they can try to screw them afterward.
Royal Porthcawl (Wales) is a new one for the WBO ... they've hosted the geezer male pros three times since 2014.

No homeless encampments near Columbia Edgewater when I was there earlier this year; they seem to shift around to a different area each time I'm there.

Look before you LEAP:
This is a tad comical ... several of these awards are virtually redundant ... no wonder Lotte World already has 16 of the 20 points needed to join the LPGA.

Actually, Wild Horse Pass is the Casino and Resort. I played both the Whirl Wind courses the Cattail and Devil Claw twice. It was about ten or twelve years ago, and I believe the Devil Claw was the better of the two. They are both Desert Courses and wasn't that hard unless you played them at 7200 yards.

Golf's biggest sucker is steamed up at the LPGA (again) ... after announcing a future undeserved big pay hike (on top of past undeserved pay hikes), he moans about Saturday's round on tape delay.

Another great interview by MHL with a surprise visitor ... have no idea what she said, but it HAD to be great, right?

OK, continuing a discussion from the Gainsbridge thread, allow me to talk about how great Jin Young Ko is! Jin Young has won the CME twice, so I'm still hoping she can somehow continue her streak of winning at least once every year she's been on tour. Her victory there in 2021 may very well be the greatest performance I have ever seen in a golf event. Coming into the week, she had been winning a lot of late season events, but still needed to win the CME in order to capture Player of the Year. Any other result and Korda was the POY. She had a bad wrist injury that made it so she couldn't even hit full practice shots before the rounds. Even playing was going to be a struggle. She started slowly and dropped behind Korda. She played well in the second round but was still behind. In the third round she played great, tying Korda for the lead. They would play together in the final round, and remember, to get POY, Jin Young had to not only beat Korda but win the event. How did Ko perform on that Sunday paired with her top rival? Magnificently. She hit 14/14 fairways, 18/18 greens, shot a 63, and though she easily beat Korda, she was challenged by Hataoka until the final hole. She beat her by a shot, won the event and captured POY. And remember, could not hit a full practice shot all week. Oh yeah, and she also hit *63* consecutive greens in regulation to finished the event, the largest streak of consecutive greens in recorded pro golf history, LPGA or PGA. The next nearest ever was 51, and that was in 1993 on the PGA. The best in 2021 on the PGA was 35 greens by Steve Stricker, and even that was 7 greens more than the #2 streak on that tour. Jin Young making 63 in a row is as freakish a statistical anomaly as you can imagine. That's every green from the 10th hole of the first day through the end of the tournament. A mind boggling accomplishment. Even Korda called it 'The Jin Young Ko show'. And she needed every last one of those to win. Good luck this week, Jin Young! Hwaiting!

An OK first round for the Sisters. Jin Young played pretty well for the most part, although she struggled a bit coming in. She hit a terrible tee shot on the 16th but a superlative chip to less than a foot for an easy par. On the next hole she hit into an unplayable off the tee and barely missed a par save. 68 isn't a bad start, but the real test comes tomorrow: can she stay in the hunt? Jin Hee Im was OK, but only three shots ahead of Saigo. More importantly, she needs to score at least 66 points so probably needs a top ten at least. So she has to pick up the pace in round 2. Personally, I'm feeling she is going to miss out, but hopefully I'll be surprised. Hae Ran is in her can't-make-a-putt mode. She had so many chances for birdie and didn't make a darn thing. So Furue is slightly ahead of her now. Ryu can put this away if she just starts making some birdies. It's not like she has to dunk thirty footers; if she just makes the ones within 8 feet she'll be in great shape. Sigh. Nice 4 under by Hye Jin and 8 under by Narin. Hyo Joo and Amy lurking at 3 under. Hwaiting!

Some nice groupings tomorrow include Jin Young/Hye Jin, Goose/Lucy Li, Minjee/Grace, Giant Lims, Nelly/Lexi.
Nice start for Na Rin, would like to see her win one (finally) she's been close before and has had a surprisingly good season. Allisen has been quiet this year nice to see her sprout up the leaderboard.

Can anyone clarify the current situation with the Vare? I thought that Haeran was six strokes ahead of Furue after the ANNIKA. Ayaka picked up two of those six in CME round one, she was minus-3 versus Haeran minus-1. But I swear that one of the announcers said, during the round one broadcast, that Furue needed to finish minus-15 to win the Vare. That did not make sense to me; it's not where Ayaka would finish, it's how many strokes she and Haeran are separated by, right? Go Haeran! Go Jin Young! Go Jin Hee! Go Sisters, we can still believe... until Sunday we can still believe...

And I think even if Haeran finishes behind her but within a few shots of her she wins it, too.
