Who is KCC? The Kansas City Chiefs?
Muni barely missed out on Monday qualifying for Palos Verdes, but she got it done today with a 7-under 65. Emily Lauterbach (who?) won the second spot in a three-way playoff.
Malia Nam is the first alternate ... I have a feeling she is better than a decent number of the players in the field ... a situation that will probably correct itself in the next month or two.

According to Wikipedia, KCC Corporation (renamed from Kumkang Korea Chemicals Co., Ltd. in 2005) is a South Korean chemical and auto parts manufacturer, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KCC_CorporationSo this should be a good omen for the sisters, having a Korean co-sponsor. Look at Hanwha, right? Well, no, maybe not look at Hanwha... Phil, you had me ready to cheer for Reid and Mahomes...

Am I the only one that finds it strange that players such as Lydia Ko, Amy Yang, Sei Young Kim, Minjee Lee, etc, skipped last week and are playing this week? The purses are the same, and they were all given a week off before the Se Ri tournament.

My field rating for this inaugural event is a super high 78%. It is very likely that this will be the strongest non-major field event of the year! Last year the strongest non-major field event was the Dio Implant at 77%, but that tournament renamed after Se Ri Pak this year, dropped way down to 69% last week. My breakdown is a huge 86% from the LPGA Priority List and a very solid 70% from the Rolex Rankings. Nine of the top ten ten players in the world rankings will be teeing it up, with only Jin Young Ko keeping it from being a perfect top ten attendance.
The Monday local qualifiers are: Muni He -7 Emily Lauderbach -6
Other stuff: Emily Kristine Pedersen had her cut streak snapped at fifteen. Sarah Schmelzel registered her third consecutive top ten. Schmelzel and Andrea Lee both now have three top tens. Only Ayaka Furue has more with four. Luci Li, who didn't have a single top fifteen finish last year, has finished 4th, 10th, and 13th, in her last three starts. Nelly Korda has won her last two starts, and has taken over the top spot for player of the year. Nelly's win was the third for a player from the USA. No other country has more than one. It looks like a real battle this year for top rookie honors. Gabriela Ruffles (Australia) takes over the top spot with 115 points. She is followed by: Mao Saigo (Japan) 108, Mone Inami (Japan) 93, Auston Kim (USA) 80, and Savannah Grewal (Canada) rounds out the top five with 75.
There was lots of movement by LPGA players in the Rolex Rankings to report this week: Nelly Korda takes over the No. 1 spot for the 6th different time in her career. She now has totaled 39 weeks at the top. She is in 7th place all-time in weeks at the top. Lilia Vu drops to No. 2 in the rankings after spending nineteen consecutive weeks in the top spot. She now has accumulated a total of 28 weeks on top which is 8th on the all-time list. Andrea Lee jumps up from 47 to 38. Jenny Shin rises from 66 to 54. Gemma Dryburgh moves from 67 to 56. Ryann O'Toole skyrockets from No. 142 to 70. Jasmine Suwannapura vaults from 92 to 75. Mi Hyang Lee springs up from 89 to 81. Gabriela Ruffles catapults from 151 to 92. Lucy Lee surges from 107 to 96. On the downside, longtime top player Eun Hee Ji drops out of the top 100 and out of my field ratings.

Caddie list is out ... Jenny Coleman (two starts, no money) will conserve her dwindling resources with golfer sis Kristen on her bag. Paul Heselden was dumped after one week by Moriya J., but he landed on his feet with Inky the semi-retiree, who hasn't made a dime on the LPGA since Shoprite/Acer last year. YJS has Micky Millburn (who?) ... I guess he's not a newbie ... Getty has pics of him with Minjee at the 2014 USWO.
MHL goes out early Thursday AM with Dumbo and Dryburgh ... in an unusual move, both Monday qualifiers (Muni and Lauterbach) were put in the same group (with Jin Hee Im) ... more gruel for Grewal as she gets the last PM group teeing off at #10 on Thursday (with Hartlage and Mack Attack).

Looking at the afternoon groups and trying to figure out who will be on the course for live tv from 7-9 EDT (GMT-4). I believe AZ is one of those weird states, "a country where they DON'T turn back time," so they are PST which acts like MDT, both are GMT-6. MST which is GMT-7. That's what is showing as local tournament time. The time showing on the lpga.com leaderboard page is wrong by one hour.
Probably they'll show the final holes a lot of Céline, old Ko, and Korda; maybe some of Fur-oo, Nasa, and Lilia "I love you." Hyo Joo may get some air time since she's grouped with Linn Grant and Rose.
Actually these evening telecasts will work for me pretty well this weekend as I'll be traveling a bit with the wife earlier in the days.
Go sisters!

Dull broadcast ... however, Stupples said the record low cut line on the LPGA is -5, but didn't say when that happened. Any guesses? Maybe when Bad A$$ won with 31-under? MHL shot -3, which puts her on the current cut line. Grool just got to -3 with three holes left and eagled the par-5 18th ... anyone else do that?
The Semi-Retiree (-1) is on schedule to get retired tomorrow night.

I didn't hear the broadcast but was able to watch some of it. Traveling with my wife and she grumbles when I have the sound on for two different sporting events simultaneously. The broadcast followed the golfers that I predicted for the most part. Any of us could have predicted that. When I first turned on the streaming video, first image was Lilia in white! Hoping that her solid first round means that she's healthy again.
Unfortunately, my laptop stopped streaming the GC video (or any tv through my provider) about a half hour before the round ended, and the dish at the hotel had dozens of channels, probably over 100, but GC was not among them. So I was reduced to watching Lilia, Céline, Ciganda, and Anannarukarn climb the leaderboard page on lpga.com. And Hyo Joo! A sister in the mix with Jenny and "Anna Lynn" not far behind...

A shout out to In Kyung Kim for making the cut. Also, other Korean golfers that moved up the Leaderboard. Again, they were mostly missing in action on the Broadcast. Instead of giving the LPGA one penny I went to the ASU College Invitation. I might go to the Tournament next Month at Wilshire Country Club.

OK a shout out to Mi Hyang Lee for how she finished to make the cut. It didn't look good for her at minus two through twelve holes, but she made three clutch birdies after that.

Also good to see Sei Young having a successful tournament so far. I didn't see much of the action, but agree that the cameras couldn't seem to find the sisters. No trouble finding Lexi's group though...
