The Monday qualifiers were Yu-Sang Hou (66. -5) and Becca Huffer (67, -4). The EMP (72, +1) flopped and she'll probably go nowhere as the field's 2nd alternate.
I couldn't find any airport departure pics for Chairwoman Mao ... but will make her LPGA debut as a member this week. I assume she is deadly serious about trying to make Japan's Olympic team ... five players are ahead of her, but will not skip any opportunities to pass them ... is in the LET/Saudi event next month.

Are there any sisters making their LPGA debuts this week?

They have 16 pro-am groups going out off split tees on Wednesday ... I know there is reduced daylight, but that seems like a pathetically small number of ams showing up. None of the rookies have to work the pro-am as regulars or as alternates.

MHL (aka The SSQ) got grouped with Fassi and Alex. YJS got stuck with two Chinese scrubs. NASA and AL Kim with Yani ... is there some kind of miraculous comeback that we don't know about? J. Song gets The Ice Cream Princess and homeless (per the tee sheet) Nataliya Guseva. Dr. Noh gets Im and ECP wannabe Savannah Grewal.

Thursday's broadcast window is 12-3. First I thought that we'd get to see a bit of Hae Ran. She's in a 12:38 group with last week's winner Lydia Ko and popular (with me, anyway) American Lilia Vu. But then I looked two groups further, and realized that we're going to see Amy! The cameras will certainly be following Lexi and Brooke in a 12:49 group, and Amy's the third. Wear the hat, Amy!
Someone else will have to confirm whether this really happens, as I'll miss most of Thursday's broadcast...

Chairwoman Mao's arsenal has one possible deviation ...
... which 58/6 wedge will she be gaming? In Japan only, they market a Titleist Vokey Forged wedge, which I never saw before. This is the Google mush from the Titleist/Japan website:
At the pinnacle of modern classics
A premium forged model exclusively for Japan, created by master craftsman Bob Vokey with years of experience and sensitivity. A traditional, sharp face profile drawn with beautiful curves, Titleist's unique CO-FORGING manufacturing method, and a multi-material structure are combined to satisfy the sensibilities of discerning players.

All three top KLPGA rookies are starting their season here. So Mi Lee, Jin Hee Im and Yu Jin Sung. This is still the silly season as far as I'm concerned. I mean, I'll be thrilled if one or more of them do well, but at this point it's still early enough that it doesn't matter all that much.
So do you think any of those three will be shown or mentioned at all? I'm going to guess 'no' unless they are within two shots of the lead going into the weekend. I wonder who the rookie is that they will relentlessly focus on this year...?

My field rating for this event is a mediocre 57.5%, way down from 75.5% last year when it was played in March after the Asian swing. My breakdown is 65% from the LPGA Priority List and 49% from the Rolex World Rankings. Top ten players teeing it up this week: #1 - Lilia Vu #2 - Ruoning Yin #3 - Celine Boutier #4 - Nelly Korda #9 - Lydia Ko Top Ten players not teeing it up this week: #5 - Minjee Lee #6 - Jin Young Ko #7 - Hyo-Joo Kim #8 - Charley Hull #10- Atthaya Thitikul
Monday qualifiers this week: You Sang Hou -5 Becca Huffer -4
Other Stuff: There were some moves in the Rolex Rankings worth noting. Nelly Korda jumps up a spot to No. 4, Minjee Lee drops a spot to No. 5. Last week's winner Lydia Ko jumps back into the top ten, moving up three spots to No. 9. She replaces Xi Yu Lin in the top ten. Rose Zhang moves up from No. 24 to No. 21. Cheyenne Knight rises from No. 52 to No. 46. Nineteen year old Alexa Pano (as she did a couple of times last year), was the week's biggest mover, leaping from No. 124 to No. 78.

Based on Golfweek, it looks like Gabriela Ruffels is the rookie they are throwing their attention at for the moment.

Based on Golfweek, it looks like Gabriela Ruffels is the rookie they are throwing their attention at for the moment. Just be patient, Ina Yoon will be the center of attention when she arrives at America! It sounds like all three big KLPGA rookies from last year are thinking seriously about going to Q Series at the end of the year. So we might not have long to wait. And Yewon has also talked about playing Majors this year. By the way, for clarity, the Rolex Rankings of some of the big rookies: Jin Hee Im 39 -- 2nd on the KLPGA in 2023 So Mi Lee 58 -- Two top five finishes on the LPGA Yu Jin Sung 67 -- lost in a playoff last year on LPGA Mone Inami 74 -- won an LPGA event Trichat Cheenglab 87 -- LET money list leader Gabriela Ruffels 146 -- Epson Tour leader Come on, Beth, try a little harder, will ya?

Is this the first Major of the year? MHL opened with 11 straight pars and only 12 of the first 60 players are under par.
