Lydia and Nelly in a playoff. Fair play to both for getting eagles on 17. They are tough cookies

Round 4
Thoroughly mediocre week for the Sisters. All Sei Young had to do was shoot 4 over or better for a top ten and somehow ended up shooting 5 over. It's not been a great season start, with two events and no top tens for the Koreans. We had three in the top ten after two rounds: one ended up finishing LAST (Kang) and another shot a final round 76 to miss the top ten.
Still, there were a few good parts. So Mi shot a good round, a great round, a terrible round and an OK round and finished t-16th. She hit 16/18, 17/18, 12/18 and 14/18 GIR in very windy weather. And averaged over 260 from the tee. If she were just able to make a putt she might have been able to do something; she only broke 30 putts/round once. It was not so great a week for Yu Jin, but she made the cut and finished t-35th. Could have been worse.
Nice week for Hye Jin but she also sputtered out at the end, t-16th.
Anyways, go back to training and be ready to kick some butt in two months. Hwaiting!

Lydia and Nelly in a playoff. Fair play to both for getting eagles on 17. They are tough cookies Congrats to Nelly Korda, winner of the 2024 LPGA Drive On. Congrats to Lydia Ko, who took Nelly to two holes of a playoff on one of the craziest final rounds in a while and came this close || to the Hall of Fame.
And congrats to you, Bullfinch, for calling the winner after Friday's round for the second week in a row. This week you also called the daily double, Korda and Ko... Attributed to sportswriter and journalist Damon Runyon, "The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but that's how the smart money bets." Chanettee? Who is Chanettee?

I watched and enjoyed the whole thing but I feel raw and irritable after three hours of Morgan Pressel. Watching TV on mute is strange but I need to get used to it.

Great Tournament for Lydia Ko for her Final Round to tie the Tournament. But she committed a Rookie mistake by leaving her putt short on the second playoff hole. She was at a big disadvantage off the tee so needed to try to make it by going past the hole. So what if she goes four or five feet by, coming up short should not have been an option. You have a better chance of making the comeback putt and you might just make the birdie putt. Because sooner or later Nelly Korda was going to make a birdie. Lydia may have just miss hit the putt, so what I said may be a moot point.
All that been said Congratulation to Nelly Korda for her win.
So Mi Lee got off to a rough start with three bogey and a double her first four holes. After that she had four birdies and no bogeys.

A lotta lumps were administered to the field this weekend ... hard to believe the LPGA was here ... of course, they should come back here, although I won't underestimate the tour's ability to screw it up. Here are two paragraphs from the article above:
It’ll be up to BCC members whether the good times will continue. At their annual meeting on Feb. 9, they will decide if they want the Drive On Championship back. A big factor in the LPGA returning to Bradenton could be the tournament securing a title sponsor. This year, the LPGA sponsored it.
“The LPGA set this up because they want another Florida stop in January to kick off their season,” Edwards said. “And they typically want it for three years. Their intention is they want to do a three-year contract. If they do, and they get a title sponsor, it could be something that sticks around.”
*********
MHL appears to be gaming a Scotty Cameron Tour Only Newport putter (don't ask me which version) ... Getty pics indicate that she has used that type of stick going back to at least Portland in 2023. She has had Odyssey blades for most of her career ... I think she dabbled with Bettinardi around 2021 before going back to Odyssey.

Thanks - I'm gonna retire from making predictions now I thought Nelly had blown it when she ended up in the water just as Lydia was making her eagle on 17. Literally a 4 shot swing in just over a minute. I'm not a big Nelly fan but fair play for digging deep and going eagle, birdie finish. She says she's now taking 7 weeks off and missing the LPGA Asian swing.

With one hole completely empty ahead of them, Mone Inami's group was put on the clock as they arrived at the 14th tee ... Google mush from the above article:
... fellow teammate Ariya Jutanugan (Thailand) seemed to be protecting the rookie, saying, ``Don't worry, it's the usual thing.'' , pointed to Carlota Ciganda (Spain), who had not yet finished playing the 13th green. Ciganda is a well-known slow player on tour.

Hot __6ix looks like a different person. This trainer must of really chewed her out. Maybe in '24 she can keep up with her old man.

Expect some great outfits to be worn this year Looking forward to seeing Jeongeun Lee6 in the coming months and seeing some great golf from her. I have been 'all in' on LPGA since Six won the 2019 USWO barely days after Hank Haney's idiotic boorish comments directed at ROK golfers in general and Six in particular. Go sisters!

Dumbo was in good hands (I assume) with Shaun Clews, whose resume includes (per Getty Images) Anna N., Marina, Nat Nat, The Shinster, Jee Young Lee and Hee Won Han.
