Takes place January 18 - 21.
Normally the Koreans skip this one, but I've been hearing rumors that Jin Young Ko will play it this year, probably because she hasn't played it in years and needs to get the LPGA off her back. Stay tuned!

Stay tuned! Jin Young will not be teeing it up. Nor will Hyo Joo Kim or Eun-Hee Ji Only Koreans in the field are Amy Yang, Hae Ran Ryu, and In Gee Chun The field will be stronger than last year as 36 of the 44 eligable players are now shown in the field. Last year just 29 teed it up.

Mone Inami departed Haneda Airport today ... has 12 players ahead of her if she wants to make Japan's Olympic team again.

My field rating for this event is 43.5%, way up from 34% last year. The reason the field rating is so low is that this is a field of just 36 players (up from 29 last year), and lacks depth. But don't be fooled this is a very strong lineup where all players teeing it up have won a tournament in the past two years. The field will be led by Rolex Rankings top ten players: Lilia Vu - #1 Ruoning Yin - #2 Nelly Korda - #5 Charley Hull - #8 Fifteen of the top 25 players in the world rankings will be teeing it up.
Players that DID qualify for the event, and are NOT teeing it up: Celine Boutier Hyo Joo Kim Minjee Lee Jin Young Ko Hannah Green Atthaya Thitikul Lizette Salas Eun-Hee Ji
Other notes: Lilia Vu is the current Rolex ranked Number one player in the world. She has been on top for ten consecutive weeks, and nineteen of the last 23 weeks. Ruoning Yin will have a chance to take that position with a win this week.
This is the first of two consecutive weeks that the LPGA will be in the state of Florida. There will then be a three week break before the LPGA resumes its schedule.

I suspect the three Koreans are here hoping to gain points and possibly make it onto the Olympic team. Expect to see them tee it up a lot in the next few months. Especially Ryu and Yang, who are really close to making that cut.

tonyj500 Ronni needs to earn 33.0 more Rolex points than Lilia to overtake Rolex No. 1 postion; she won't be able to do it this week.

Pairings. Uh oh, Amy got Larry the Cable Guy (shouldn't he be Larry the Streaming Guy these days? Is Cable still a thing?)... But In Gee got Carlton aka Alphonso Ribeiro, which should be OK.

Isn't Blair at least 40 by now?! She played on the first Junior Ryder Cup in 1997. You could call her a ringer, but being in the top-10 among the celebs is still pretty good.
********
MHL (aka The SSQ) will play next week, but has fallen into the Reserve ranks for Honda and HSBC.
********
The Zhangster is going back to school after this week and will not play again until the LPGA returns from Asia. That sure looks like Man Bun on her bag.

Round 1
Amy got cabled (+1), In Gee near the bottom (+2 right now), and Hae Ran only -1. Welcome to the new season, same as the old season!

Is there any news on In Gee's caddie? I watched the coverage here in the UK but the focus was on the likes of Brooke, Nelly etc down the back 9 whilst In Gee and others were finishing their rounds on the front 9 and got zero coverage.
