Yikes, it is taking a LONG time for Laura Davies' score to get posted at the 7th hole ... Schmelzel and Horder are the two unlucky ones with her and they're going down the drain, too.
*****
I'm guessing Borge dropped out ... still showing a 10:37 tee time which was hours ago.

Davies now shows as WD, which was a noble act by a great to show respect for the game...

Thanks goodness that Davis will not qualify next year and take a spot from someone.

Nothing matters this week other than In Gee going for the slam

I watched the last 1 hr & 45 minutes of the broadcast ... and it's time for the excuses to END.
**********
They flashed a graphic so fast that I'm not sure what it said ... either no one lower than T-3 in the first round has ever won this tournament .... or was it no one more than three shots from the lead after round one has won this tournament ... well, that leaves MHL out either way.
**********
Tom Abbott mentioned "Miyu Ya-ma-SHEE-ta" ... fortunately, Pretzel followed that up with a compliment, saying her balanced/level swing compared favorably with HoJo's swing.
**********
They're still out there ... ugh, Ally Ewing in the clubhouse at -4 ... maybe she had a headache when I saw her on two holes at KPMG ... and played like a hacker on both.
**********
Nuria Iturrioz with Cally/Odyssey cap, Vokey wedge and Mizuno bag ... I think it's safe to assume that she ash-canned Wilson Golf this year.

Really good first rounds by Jeongeun Lee6, Amy Yang minus three, Hyo Joo Kim and In Gee Chun minus two. They all had at least two birdies on the par fives, Amy Yang had a birdie and an Eagle. Hyo Joo Kim eagle putt stopped on the lip. Good to see them take advantage of the reachable par fives.
Jeongeun Lee6 had a four birdie one bogey back nine after all pars on the front nine.
Jenny Shin at minus one had three bogeys two birdies and also had an eagle.
A Lim Kim putting hurt her, missed only two greens but had thirty-five putts for even par.
Jin Young Ko decided to stick with Nelly Korda at plus one.

I wonder if anybody could match all the players names to faces in this field.

Watch Yang in person. She is perfect. Go to the bathroom get a water. Catch up with them 3 holes later & she's done.

Round 1 Happy birthday, In Gee! She had a really nice round today. They barely showed her, but on the par 5 16th she drove near the green in two, pitched to within six feet, then barely missed the birdie. That would have taken her to 69, but the 70 still leaves her in the top ten, her best start to an event all year. I'm not ready to believe just yet, but that was a very encouraging start to be sure! Six looked really strong in the few shots they showed. Amy also looked great, and Hyo Joo looked all day like she'd be 5 or 6 under, so 2 under seemed like a little bit of a disappointment. Still, she's in it so far! As for the rest: Hye Jin, Hae Ran and A Lim all shot even and are just four back. Jin Young didn't have a great start, but compared to her usual slow first round, it was fine. She needs a sausage-roll-fueled breakfast to inspire a great round two. Sisters hwaiting!

Who plugged in Ally Ewing these first two days?!?!?
Actually, she's been having a somewhat successful last few weeks, alternating top ten or near top ten finishes with missed cuts.

Contrary to popular belief Rose Zhang is not the winningest golfer in Stanford history. Andrea Lee is. Talk about short shrift.

Ewing is in the driver's seat right now, but it would not be a bad weekend to say, "I'm picking Lee!" Andrea, Alison, and Minjee staying in good position for moving day. Six moving the wrong way on Friday; maybe she can reverse that trend on Saturday.

Jin Young Ko had a good second round with a four birdie clean scorecard. So many players ahead of her it will take a really great weekend to get a win. Not surprising that they showed Maquire at plus one more than Jin Young Ko at minus two. Actually, they didn't even show Jin Young birdies on ten and twelve.
Hyo Joo Kim at minus two today could have been better, with a little luck on some of her putts.
Jeongeun Lee6 struggled a bit with a double and two bogeys, however, came back with birdies on fifteen and sixteen.
Did I mention that Jiyai Shin is amazing, after a one over front nine, had four birdies back nine. Also not to worry an up and down from the bunker on eighteen for par.
Amy Yang has been a mystery her entire career with one of the best swings in golf. Too many times she follows a really good round with a bad round.
Again, A Lim Kim only missed three greens but had thirty five putts.
