One of the most hopeless Monday qualifier fields ever will assemble tomorrow at Stone Oak CC ... hope Lizzie Win makes it for reasons that have nothing to do with golf. Stanford bust Angelina Ye will also tee it up as a pro. Ex-Buckeye Aneka S., who Woodie Hayes would have used as a blocking tight end, will also give it a go as a pro.
Corpuz is in the field ... she should confirm or validate her elite tour status by dropping out.

And I'm curious to see what Bailey Tardy does. Was Pebble Beach a complete fluke totally out of character with the rest of her career? (Well, yes...) But should we count out someone whose year to date earnings are now nine times as much as Lexi's? At least Bailey can afford a new shirt. I'll give info on Tony Packo's and explain why Toledo should have been part of Michigan, not Ohio, in a later post.

Looks like we won't get to see Lizzie, Angelina, or Aneka. If I'm reading the tournament entries page correctly, the qualifiers are amateur Mia Hammond and Lauren Peter. Stone Oak is about 10 or 15 minutes south of Highland Meadows where the tournament will be held. Both are in the NW or W suburbs of Toledo. I don't know the area extremely well, but I occasionally stop at the Sam's Club gas station in Holland, OH, not too far from Stone Oak, to take advantage of the cheap Ohio gas prices after crossing the border from Michigan.

The threesomes are set and Bailey Two* is now in the Big Time ... grouped with JTibs and Harigae. Here's a duo I'd follow, Erica Shepherd and Karen Chung ... the third is Kris Tamulis who hasn't had an LPGA start this year and hasn't made an LPGA cut in 24 months. I'm curious to know how much sponsor backing Shepherd has as she gets set to play her first LPGA event as a pro ... she also entered the Monday qualifier for the Cannuck Open next month. MHL gets two players (Garcia, Johannson) with a combined 16.35 CME points. After two El Stinko majors, Shibuno Fever gets the unexciting duo of Borge and Coughlin .... really don't know what to expect of Shibuno from week to week ... does a radical grip change with the driver and look what happened ... I watched her on the range at Baltusrol and she did not impress me at all. The Pink One has done almost nothing this year, but still gets two good Aussies, Grace Kim and Steph Kyriacou.
**********
The total white line yardage is 6692. The designated dopey hole might be the par-4 9th ... listed at 395 yards, but it also has a forward tee at 262.
**********
No caddie list is posted ... the LPGA sometimes doesn't post one. There is usually some noticeable blood letting after a major(s) ... Natty V. is not playing this week, probably too busy stuffing Jinsup Kim into an oil drum.
***********
The link above will have the all of the Dow Great Lakes teams posted some time this week. From an article at the website, a few of them are already set:
Fan favorites Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson, and Megan Khang are set to appear alongside other top LPGA players at the Dow GLBI. The 2022 defending champions Lizette Salas and Jennifer Kupcho will be partners again at the tournament. Notable teams for the tournament include Celine Boutier and Yuka Saso, Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Emma Talley, Stacy Lewis and Maria Fassi, Jane Park and Paula Creamer, Georgia Hall and Rayan O’Toole, with a full partner list to be announced the week of July 10.

* This is Bailey One

Jamie Farr boosted the LPGA more than the others. I guess he & Milton Berle are out of style nowadays.

I met Jamie at Se Ri's HOF induction dinner back in 2007. He even gave a little speech for her (after all, she did win his event FIVE times). He seemed like a cool guy. I miss the days when he would appear during the broadcast and joke around with Judy and Terry.

One thing that kinda slipped under the radar is how badly Thitikul stunk up the last two Majors. I wonder what the story behind that is? She didn't even come close to making the cut. Maybe now that Zhang is the fair haired girl, she's feeling forgotten?

I trying to figure out who Bailey one is. Looks like Bailey that was on WKRP in Cincinatti. I still laugh about it when on Thanksgiving the owner thought Turkeys could fly.

Jamie Farr boosted the LPGA more than the others. And the other thing that Jamie Farr boosted was Tony Packo's! Closest Packo's location to Highland Meadows is on Alexis Rd, less than ten minutes away. You don't even have to get on the freeway; in fact, you shouldn't unless you want to go to the original Packo's on Front St, across the river from downtown Toledo.

Yep, it's Bailey Quarters from the mighty KRP. AKA Jan Smithers, who was married to James Brolin for about a decade. Yes, Bailey was the stepmother of Thanos.

The EMP gets grouped with rookie sensation Soo Bin "Alicia" Joo with 105 CME points to KT's 2 points. But does Alicia have her own signature shoes??? No, she does not. Look for BFFs KT and Castren to team up again at the Dow. Last year the pairing resulted in a solo 2nd for the event...a career high for the EMP.

I am a little late with this as I just got back home from Pebble Beach.
My field rating for this event is an embarrassingly low 35%, way way down from 63% last year when it wasnt played following a major championship. My breakdown is 41.5 % from the LPGA Priority List and 29.5 % from the Rolex Rankings. The field will be led by top ten players: Jin Young Ko Allisen Corpuz Minjee Lee Xiyu Lin The list of players skipping the event is too long to list, but top ten players skipping the event: Nelly Korda Lilia Vu Ruoning Yin Hyo-Joo Kim Atthaya Thitikul
On to other stuff: Danielle Kang missed the cut this past week and her streak of making cuts ended at 33 (she had one wd during that stretch due to injury). Ayaka Furue's top ten finish was her 7th of the year tying her for the tour lead with Atthaya Thitikul. Rose Zhang has followd up her victory in her first start with top ten finishes in both major championships. Allisen Corpuz became the 4th American player to win on the LPGA tour this year. No other country has more than two wins. American players have also won 2 of the first 3 major championships this year.
The Player of the year race is one of the tightest we have seen in recent years. Here are the current standings: Ruoning Yin - 97 points Lilia Vu - 94 points Allisen Corpuz - 83 points Jin Young Ko - 75 points
The Rookie of the Year race is also still up for grabs: Hae Ron Ryu - 493 points Grace Kim - 412 points *Rose zhang - 218 points Bailey Tardy - 182 points * Rose Zhang did not receive any points for her victory because she was not a member of the LPGA at the time.
There was some big moves from LPGA players in the Rolex Rankings this week: Allisen Corpuz zooms up the rankings moving from 29 to 6 Charley Hull rises from 28 to 18 Rose Zhang continues her assault up the rankings moving from 45 to 37 Grace Kim leaps up from 66 to 57 There were a couple of moves outside the top 100 that are worth noting: Bailey Tardy vaults up 312 spots 455 to 143 Gabriela Ruffels surges from 193 to 179
