In case you've been living under a rock, The Zhangster turned pro and was given a sponsor invitee, leaving two spots to fill. MHL is the 3rd alternate and dropped out of today's qualifier ... maybe she knows something I don't.
Waitwait Zhang is in the last group of the qualifier ... smart move by the committee.
********
In other news, MJ Uribe played the PGA LatinoAmerica Tour last week on her home course in Colombia, which was set at 6592 yards (par-70). She shot 73-69 (+2) and missed the cut by five shots ... the 26 players who finished behind her must turn in their Man cards to the tour by 5 PM today (local time).

Team Pano (-7) and SJ Smith (-4) were the qualifiers. It's a Stanford trio for the sponsor invitees: The Zhangster, Megha Ganne (a) and Mo Stacks. FYI, the pro field of 120 will have a cut of top-50 plus ties ... no cut for the 24 juniors.

My field rating for this event is a pretty solid 68.5 %. My breakdown is 75.5 from the LPGA Priority List and 61.5 from the Rolex Rankings. Seven of the top ten players in the Rolex World Rankings will be teeing it up this week. The field will be led by top ten players: Jin Young Ko Lydia Ko Lilia Vu Minjee Lee Atthaya Thitikul Brooke Henderson Georgia Hall Top ten players skipping the event are: Nelly Korda Lexi Thompson Hyo-Joo Kim
Monday qualifiers: Alexa Pano 65 (-7) Sarah Jane Smith 68 (-4)
Other stuff: Pajaree Anannarukarn's victory this past weekend was the first by a Thailand player this year. It was the second victory of her LPGA career. Cheyenne Knight has had top ten finishes in the last three events.
Lilia Vu continues to lead in the race for Player of the Year. She has 94 points. Jin Young Ko is second with 75. Hae Ran Ryu leads in the Rookie of the Year race with 276 points. Grace Kim is second with 205.
There wasn't many big moves in this week's Rolex Rankings. Jin Young Ko holds the No.1 spot by a very narrow margin over Nelly Korda. With Nelly skipping this week's event, Jin Young should maintain her spot this week unless Lydia Ko is victorious. Pajaree Anannarukarn makes the biggest jump by far, leaping from No. 97 to No. 65. Other moves by LPGA players: Angel Yin 42-38 Albane Valenzuela 79-75 Outisde the top 100: Perrine Delacour 126-117 Lindsey Weaver-Wright 155-135 Daniella Darquea 188-173

It appears that the LPGA website will not be tracking the tee times and scorecards of the juniors ... however, the AJGA website will follow them here:
After the LPGA morning waves tees off Thursday and Friday, four threesome of juniors will follow them. Likewise, the other four threesomes of juniors will tee off after the afternoon LPGAers have teed off. The junior I'm most interested in seeing is Anna Davis, who I missed at the 2022 Cognizant Founders Cup.
Chella and Gimmee will get more attention than they've had in a long time since The Zhangster will join them. Meanwhile, here are a few interesting groups that the GIC will ignore like the plague:
Dr. Noh/Aza/JTibs
Haeji/Moriya/Yuna
Grace Kim/Furue/Stark
Talley/Tardy/Vongtaveelap
Hsu/Min Lee/Bam Bam
Kinhult/Meadow/Schubert
Doherty/Davidson/Money Chien
Katsu/Ryann/Six

The foreigners are more impressed by the Statue of Liberty than the Americans. That's not a surprise.

Tuesday prep -
Ayaka Furue at this ex-landfill ... good luck finding a nearby shade tree.
Minami Katsu ... appears to be hitting a Srixon ZX7 Mk II iron.
The pros are staying in the city and are being ferried to the course.
Lilia Vu with junior Katie Li (white top)
*******
In other news, the LPGA announced they'll be playing at the Black Desert Resort in Ivins, UT in 2025 ... the Epson Tour will be playing this course in September.

Is the new rule that every alternate week the LPGA tournament has to take place in New Jersey? Meanwhile, we haven't had an LPGA tournament take place in Washington state since 2016...
(and there's still Baltrusol and ShopRite to come).

I guess you missed Mollie's posting in January. (above)

BTW, you better get down to Portland this year and next year .... after that, well, it's probably over ... you can read between the lines regarding the Utah announcement for 2025.

Jin Young talks to the press: Such a Jin Young attitude: "After my win I went back home and rested. OK, I worked out twice a day each day for a week. But I did rest for one day. Then my coach came and I have been working with him every day from 6 AM to 6 PM. So I rested one day in the past two weeks." Jin Young, that's not resting!!!!

I saw that before. Am I missing something? She seems to basically be saying, "there are four events in NJ this year so this is the year of women's golf in NJ". Yes, but WHY are there four events there this year? Couldn't they have spread the wealth a little?

Shucks, I would've attended if I still lived in that dump. I always got weird feelings about not attending any of the PGAT events at Liberty, because I could've biked to the ferry, about as easy a setup for attending a pro golf tournament as there is. Not worth it to watch the males but it would've been nice to pedal over and see Jin Young and company this week.
