Shucks, I would've attended if I still lived in that dump. I always got weird feelings about not attending any of the PGAT events at Liberty, because I could've biked to the ferry, about as easy a setup for attending a pro golf tournament as there is. Not worth it to watch the males but it would've been nice to pedal over and see Jin Young and company this week. Based on the questions they asked, it sounds like the golf course is within walking distance of the ferry from the city? I lived briefly in Hoboken long ago, but I don't recall ever making it down to Jersey City.

Yaka Saso cleaned out her bag in the last couple weeks ... five Jaws wedges?
Jeeno Jat breaking down Saso's will to win.
Does the Ice Cream Princess know about this?

One of those slow starts for Jin Young. She hit virtually every green, gave herself 10 foot birdie tries on like half the greens, and missed them all. Her bogey came one of the times she missed the green; she hit it to four feet but lipped out the par save. Not too often that she has a birdie-less round.
Meanwhile, Zhang completely hashed up one of the par 5's, sat in a dicey spot well off the green, and pitched it in for birdie. Sometimes the luck goes your way, sometimes it doesn't.
Still, Jin Young's hitting it well tee-to-green, so I expect things will improve as the week continues.
On the plus side, nice first day for Amy Yang and Chella Choi -- 2 under.
Sisters hwaiting!!

Nothing says short game creativity like 5 wedges.

I don't want to wait until Avery Zweig wins every other week. Can't one of my other players win once in awhile?

Great rebound by Jin Young Ko, didn't hit as many greens as she did the first round. However, she turned the putting around from thirty-seven the first round to twenty-one the second round. Sei Young had a decent round to move up close to the top ten. Two more rounds, if her back is feeling better she can move up the Leaderboard.
Not sure what Jeongeun Lee6 wanted to accomplish by changing her swing. But if it was to play her way off the LPGA Tour it's working.

Dream scenario compared to the usual indignity of parking offsite miles away and shuttling to the course on a crummy school bus.

Sad to see Six, "There's my Lee6" continuing to struggle. She is the one who got me really interested in LPGA a few years ago.
After Friday, I want to ask, "Who plugged in Minjee Lee?" Also American Marina Alex, she's been hanging on the tour for years, making money but not having big success. You gotta admire her for going from 1st round 80 and not giving up, 2nd round 64, I believe that was the best round of the day along with Minjee and Marina easily made the cut.
I support the sisters on Saturday and Sunday, and Angel Yin and Kupcho as two of my favorite Americans. With Jin Young and Lydia both in a strong position going into the weekend, maybe this week Haney should be saying, "I'm picking Ko, there's two of them!" But if Minjee holds on to win by continuing what she did on Friday, he'll claim he called it!

Yes, that's exactly what the local media in SW Michigan is already announcing about the Meijer in two weeks. Park at Rockford HS (suburban Grand Rapids) and take a shuttle (school bus) to the course. I guess at least the local school district makes some $ to offset the decades of budget cuts.

Round 2 Jin Young went on a tear at the start of her round. On the front nine she was five under, no bogies, and had moved to within striking distance of the leaders. On her back, however, she didn't make much more ground up, only gaining one more shot. Still, she's just two back with lots of time to go. Time to see if she can get into Minjee's head again. Eun Hee Ji shot a 69 to move into the top ten; Sei Young is so far doing well, just four back, as is Amy Yang. Hae Ran never quite got it going, but she did make the cut. On the downside, another dreadful week for Six, and Narin also fell apart. But now the fun starts, with Jin Young, Sei Young and Amy close enough to make noise. Sisters hwaiting!

Minami Katsu in Friday's money shots at the 1st hole ... this is the pond right of the fairway at the elbow of the right dogleg ... I was on the left side of fairway.
*******
On the surface, ferrying the players to and from NYC looks like a luxury, until you see the evening rush hour traffic in Jersey City, then the ferries are a necessity! Driving to the shuttle parking was no problem ... I left at 6 AM and it took 1 & 15 minutes (only because I'm a cheapskate and didn't get on the NJ Tnpk until exit 13). But, getting out the was the nightmare I feared. First, the shuttle bus (luxury coach, not a school bus) took the back way to the lot by going through downtown Jersey City, ugh ... took forever. Then from the lot, what do I do? Making a left turn out of that lot when Jersey Ave. is snarled is impossible. So, I turned right and crawled into JC, then gambled and turned left on a main street ... it worked out, I later saw a Tnpk sign and followed it to go south starting at exit 14 C, phew!
*******
I followed Six for three holes. At the par-4 17th, she flared the ball into some right junk and made bogey. She hit a perfect drive at the par-4 18 ... then I stood directly behind her line to the flag ... her approached started on that line and took a huge hook to the left and into a bunker ... splashed out and made par. From behind the first tee, my view was obstructed, so I don't know how she was lined up, but it looked like she hit a dead pull to the left. Based on her body reaction, I don't think that was the plan, but it worked out okay ... from far left side of fairway, she knocked it on and made birdie.
*******
The Virginia Cavs head coach caught my attention, so I just looked her up. Her name is Ria Scott, formerly Ria Quiazon of The Philippines ... class of Cal-Berkeley, 2003 ... MC at 2004 USWO ... formerly the head coach at U of San Francisco and Oregon ... I guess she would be about 42 now ... wearing big shades and a Cavs uniform, she appeared to be well-preserved.

As of 9:15 Central it doesn’t say Rose Zhang anywhere on the LPGA.com cover page except for at the top of the leaderboard. Commish should be walked out.
