On the surface, ferrying the players to and from NYC looks like a luxury, until you see the evening rush hour traffic in Jersey City, then the ferries are a necessity! Driving to the shuttle parking was no problem ... I left at 6 AM and it took 1 & 15 minutes (only because I'm a cheapskate and didn't get on the NJ Tnpk until exit 13). But, getting out the was the nightmare I feared. First, the shuttle bus (luxury coach, not a school bus) took the back way to the lot by going through downtown Jersey City, ugh ... took forever. Then from the lot, what do I do? Making a left turn out of that lot when Jersey Ave. is snarled is impossible. So, I turned right and crawled into JC, then gambled and turned left on a main street ... it worked out, I later saw a Tnpk sign and followed it to go south starting at exit 14 C, phew!
Phil, you are so aligned with my traffic and tolls strategy! When I lived in Philly and we wanted to go 'down the shore' then we would always go to Cape May, because it was the least crowded of the south Jersey shore towns. Everyone was going to AC or Wildwoods or somewhere in between. Now do a Google Maps directions search for Philly to Cape May. The recommended route is AC Expy to Garden State Pkwy, with the disclaimer, "This route has tolls." I never put my car on either of those toll roads. NJ 55 to NJ 47 to NJ 347 and just when it appears that there's no choice but the GS Pkwy, US 9 to NJ 109, over the Canal Bridge and I'm in Cape May, paying zero tolls.
If anyone is in the Midwest and needs to get from Detroit to Cleveland or even all the way to Pennsylvania or NYC without tolls, or vice versa, let me know and I'll explain how to avoid the Ohio and Pennsylvania Turnpikes!
I suppose that I should briefly comment on the Mizuho round 3 since this is a golf discussion board. Rose Zhang is looking great, what a debut to her professional career. Now please, LPGA and GC and media, don't continue to smother her with relentless pressure like you did and continue to do with Lexi. (Maybe I should not have included LPGA considering they don't seem to have a photo of her on their site yet... give them time.) Jin Young fell back a bit and Lydia completely collapsed with a 77, looks like "I'm picking Ko, there's two of them" was not a good prediction. I praised Marina Alex yesterday for making the cut, she made par Saturday to stay T35. Here's a trivia question, since the 2020 season, that's 3+ years at this point, which golfer has more LPGA tour wins, Marina Alex or Lexi Thompson? Ok, another question, which of the two of them made more cuts in the 2022 season? Yes, I know, I'm cherry-picking statistics, Lexi did earn much more money. While I'm doing that, who has more LPGA wins since 2019, Cheyenne Knight or Lexi Thompson? (Hint, it's a tie...)
No predictions for Sunday so that I don't embarrass myself. Two sisters T6 within 5 strokes, possible but not likely. Kupcho still in the same position, an American who doesn't seem to get attention, at least she has sponsors which Lilia Vu and Angel Yin could also use. Never count out the Thais! (Thitikul) and one of these weeks, Ashok is going to come out on top, India today is where Thailand was 10 years ago? Clearly ROK is the top Asian country, who's next? Japan or Thailand, it's not clear. China next then India is up and coming. My opinion, yours may differ.
Go sisters!

Round 3 Jin Young didn't have a bad round by the stats tee to green, but the putter bit her again. She supposedly averaged 300 yards (!!!) off the tee, hit 14/18 greens, but took 32 putts to shoot a 72. Great day for Hae Ran, a 66, but she still would have to make up 5 shots tomorrow and, unless she has another great day and gets lucky, I think it's unlikely. Sei Young and Eun Hee are having rare good weeks so far as well. Well, the win is 100% for sure off the table at this point, but I hope they do something great anyways and get psyched for the important events coming up. Hwaiting!

The LPGA leaderboard adding a portrait for The Zhangster. The LPGA section of Golfweek is at least two days behind what's going on in JC.

You can tell the Zhangster has arrived now that WRX has multiple Rose Zhang threads in addition to the tournament thread...including the un-ironic multi-page "Can a 4 handicap beat Rose Zhang?"

I'm not sure why Zhang winning (and I know she's going to win, be real) is such a big deal. Beth Baldry sounds like she's going to blow a gasket. Yes, it is her first event since turning pro, but:
- She should have probably turned pro one or two years ago. If other amateur superstars had waited as long as she did, perhaps they, too, could have set records like this? - She's older than Thitikul was when she became world #1 - Lydia was winning pro events as a teenager years younger than Zhang. - Inbee won the US Women's Open several months younger than Zhang.
But Beth just called her a 'once in a generation' talent. Couldn't we wait just a little longer before that kind of thing starts?

I was wrong about Kyriacou being DOA after she botched #18 late Friday ... took advantage of cut going to +2 and nailed a 65 on Saturday.😁 Just opened Sunday with birdie at #1. Has only two career top-10s, both majors in 2022.
********
Women's golf is weird ... Yan Liu starts Sunday at -3 ... every ball I saw her hit at UMCC was stamped 'return to sender, address unknown'.
*********
My non-lyin' eyes did not fool me on Friday ... per LPGA stats, Gimme had a 309 driving average.
*********
The designers and builders did a pretty good job converting a landfill into a good future LPGA venue. At first, I thought the scores would be crazy low when the rough was topped off at 1.5 inches, but the water, bunkers and wind have been opposite factors. Yes, there have been a couple of 64s, but no one is doing that two days in a row.
**********
I wonder if Peacock will get its highest LPGA rating ever, since it will have The Zhangster for 90 minutes before the GC broadcast starts. Getting Jeeno Jat with her in the last pairing was NOT a lucky break ... we'll see how that works out. Friday was the third time I've seen RZ in person ... by far the best performance of the three. She looked like a throwback to some old U.S. Open winner ... stripe the driver with average-plus distance and hit every approach pin-high ... can Pebble play that way? She'll get wind there, but there is noticeable wind in JC this week, too.

Beth just tweeted: "Even if Rose doesn’t win the Mizuho, her quest to win is the kind of storyline that will transcend golf." Um... OK...

Get the interpreter ready, Mickey Mouse now at -9 and trying to yank the punch bowl away from the GIC. Buhai tearing it up with 9 birdies in 16 holes, but she's too far back.

Beth just tweeted: "Even if Rose doesn’t win the Mizuho, her quest to win is the kind of storyline that will transcend golf." Um... OK... Golf Week has spent a lot of time pumping college players so this is the payoff. Rose's scoring average for the 22/23 was 68 and change which is around the best ever on the lpga so I think the lofty stuff could be warranted.

Per Tom Abbott, if The Zhangster becomes an LPGA member tonight, she'll probably skip Shoprite/Acer to clean out her dorm room.🤐🤣

Until this week, I never ever heard of Beverly Hanson before ... 17 LPGA wins. In the 11/26/1956 issue of S.I., she instructs women golfers to have a comfortable knee flex at address. OK, It looks like The Kup Show can be the bad guy this week.

One hundred forty-six yards from the middle of the fairway and make bogey. Jennifer gave out a Christmas gift way to early, she lost some points from me.
