When the showed Mirim Lee on the list of past champions, I realized that she has disappeared. She hasn't played since the Women's PGA Championship last June. What's her status?
Peiyun Chien taking full advantage of her good result in Hawai'i.

Great round by Chella Choi at minus four, with five birdies one bogey. Hyo Joo Kim and Eun Hee Ji at minus two also had good rounds.
Hae Ran had a birdie bogey, double bogey front nine but came back with four birdies one bogey back nine.
Typical A Lim Kim round eagle, three birdies four bogeys.
Jin Young Ko only missed three greens but had thirty-three putts.
I am starting to worry about Jeongeun Lee6 with four bogeys a double and two birdies. She only hit seven greens. In Gee Chun had a tough front nine with six bogeys, back nine better one bogey one birdie.
So Yeon Ryu round wasn't too bad considering her driving average was 233. She had three birdies, butt two bogeys and a double bogey.

Round 1
Not exactly the greatest start for the Koreans, but pretty much what I was expecting.
Jin Young seems to get out to slow starts these days, then turns it on in the second round. She's still not far back, she was driving it decently distancewise and hit almost all her greens, so she just needs to make a few more putts and she can improve a lot. Five back isn't ideal, but not that bad.
I was noticing that A Lim had a good round, and recall the Major she won in 2020. The US Women's Open, which was in -- Houston. Maybe that's a good omen. Hope she can keep it up!
Hae Ran struggled a bit at first by bounced back to get to 1 under. Hyo Joo was top Sister at 2 under along with Eun Hee. Hopefully she can be a little more solid than she was in Hawaii. Hye Jin also at 1 under.
In Gee did OK on her front nine but really struggled on her back (she started on 10). I think she must be injured; her first events weren't all that great this year but nothing like this. A couple of weeks ago she dropped out of a tournament, and since then she's been much worse. I don't think she's making the cut here barring a miracle, but I hope she is able to play International Crown.
Sei Young Kim has just been awful of late, and the same today. Lee6 gave an interview a few weeks ago where she said she has turned a corner, and ever since then she's been dreadful (that's the wrong corner!). I'm beginning to worry about her. But a decent start for So Yeon, so that's nice to see.
Hwaiting!

In my defense, she was I think in one of the final groups, and I think last time I checked she was not so high up.

HappyFan isn't the only one to forget about Chella. This interview has been up for 9 hours and only has 34 views. Too bad, Chella is always such a great interview.

MHL fighting back!!! Played holes 10 thru 18 at -1 ... realistically needs to pick up two more strokes on the front nine to definitely make the cut. Has played her first six par-5 five holes at Even this week which just won't cut it ... she'll have her chance to correct that at #4 and #8 (each shortened by 30 yards from yesterday) ... throw in a bunt at the par-3 3rd (131 yards) and there is cause for optimism.

How about looking for one of your old Tony Moly visors? Or find your 2019 bottle of peroxide? Do something, this ain't workin' out.

Right after my last post, the old jinx kicked in.

I know nothing about this area ... will this be an annual occurrence?
Can you imagine the runoff of assorted chemicals, critters, debris and crap into all the water hazards? I hope the winner establishes a new tradition by NOT jumping into a pool of s*** at #18.

Great round by A Lim Kim this time she had eight birdies and cancelled only one of them with a bogey.
So Yeon Ryu looked good on the front nine with two birdies no bogeys and got Broadcast time. However, started the back nine with a ball short of the green in the water for double bogey. A bogey and a birdie put her at plus one going into eighteen where she made a triple bogey. I didn't see what happened on eighteen but things like that seem to happen to So Yeon too often.
Great rebound rounds by In Gee Chun with six birdies no bogeys and Sei Young Kim with six birdies one bogey.
Jin Young Ko mailed her round in with three birdies two bogeys.
Note to golfers that has played great most of their golfing career, don't fix what isn't broken. Improve your short game which also includes your putting.

Round 2 Starting the day, I thought that In Gee had just about no chance to make the cut. What a lot of heart she showed today! So proud of her. Her 66 was the best score of the day until A Lim tapped in for 65. Speaking of which, how impressive was she? We don't know, because they basically avoided showing her most of the day, but her score sure was impressive. It's wild that her first Major win came only about 20 miles away from where they are playing now. Winning two different Majors in the same city has got to be pretty rare. The leaderboard is saturated with long hitters. I always say, if Lincicome is on a leaderboard instead of fishing on Saturday, they set the course up for bombers. Sei Young also had a great day to recover from a dreadful start, and there are a bunch of other Sisters hanging around: Hyo Joo at -4, Hye-Jin at 3 under w/ Eun Hee Ji and Chella. Jin Young has not been able to get everything going so far, and it looks like it will be a tall order for her to contend, but I still feel like she has some great stuff in her. Hopefully it will come tomorrow. Sisters hwaiting!!

At +3 with four holes left, Yuna will need a late rush to make the cut. This week's JLPGA broadcast had her doing a full commercial for the Callaway ERC ball ... you line up the three lines perpendicular to the ground on the tee and when the driver hits the ball, the lines stay perpendicular through the air. Meanwhile, Lilia Vu has fewer logos on her attire compared to last year ... women's golf in the U.S. is a joke.
*******
UPDATE: HOLY MOLY time ... Yuna birdies #15 and must have holed-out from the fairway at #16, now sits at Even.
