I think the link below will have a Studio Alice tournament substitute on Sunday (April 12) at 3 PM (Japan time) ... includes Sakura Yokomine, Ayaka Furue, Yuri Yoshida and Yuna Nishimura.

I got up early to watch that silly-season JLPGA substitute for the Studio Alice tournament on NTV - for this kind of event, you really need to know the language or else it becomes boring in a hurry - which it did. One interesting piece was a flashback to the 2012 tournament which showed Mamiko Higa holding the low amateur trophy. YouTube must be getting a record-number of hits for everything, including old golf tournaments.

It was reported on April 7 that MHL made a donation of hand sanitizer worth 16 million Won (about $13,213 USD) ... couldn't find a pic of the donor regarding this news, who I guess is in her bunker.

The JLPGA cancelled the two events that were ending on May 17 & 24. They still have those two weeks open in August.

In case you're tired of the same old baseball videos, check out the beauty I stumbled over (below). Yes, "stumbled" is the right word, because whoever posted it knows nothing about baseball. The Associated Press wants to license this video for $, but how is anyone supposed to find it when the description is filled with misspellings, misinformation and gibberish?! It was posted almost five years ago and has 18 views!
Did some digging to figure this one out -
Date: 9/19/1973, Game One of a doubleheader, which was a makeup of a rain-out from April 14. Teams: California Angels beat the Texas Rangers, 6-2 Inning: Top of the 1st
Place: Arlington Stadium Attendance: 3,347
I'm guessing that the AP was there to report on Angels starter Nolan Ryan, who started Game One with 348 strikeouts. He added seven more and broke the AL season record, leaving him 27 short of Sandy Koufax' ML record.
Frank Robinson in a nutshell from 0:18 thru 0:44 -

In the first nationwide elections anywhere in the world in the COVID-19 era, President Moon Jae-in's ruling Democratic Party won a super majority in the National Assembly. Turnout was a robust 66% overall as voters felt reassured about the stringent measures taken at polling stations to ensure everyone's health.yna.kr/AEN20200415005855315Kevin

Rationality still exists in South Carolina ... MHL can safely practice at her club ... if she ever returns to the U.S.
The hot story today is the PGA Tour is rumored to restart on June 11-14 in Texas with no spectators. The article said nothing about volunteers ... they'll need some of them and you need an army of people to do ShotLink. The PGA restart should encourage the LPGA, which can restart with no spectators and most people won't notice the difference. The LPGA is working on rescheduling the Meijer (June 11-14) in Michigan ... hopefully with the cooperation of Gov. NitWhitmer.
********
The USGA has not changed the date of the US Women's Amateur (Aug. 3-9) and the qualifying dates have remained the same. Hawk Pointe GC in Washington, NJ will have a qualifier on June 24 which I will definitely attend if I'm permitted to escape my bunker.

I read an article somewhere on the Internet (can't find it now) that Japan will announce an emergency across all prefectures ... don't know what that means, except Shibuno probably wishes she had accepted LPGA membership when she had the chance. Maybe they're freaking out over there, but I would be happy to trade NJ's covid-19 stats for Japan's.

China's blueprint for its Wuhan bio lab:
This is a good end-of-the-world flick that I saw on YouTube two or three years ago. The only problem is the lead character, who is written as a preposterous know-it-all, played by George Maharis (who does not have the acting chops or star quality to carry a feature film).

philknj Japan is in serious trouble with COVID-19. They took it too easy for too long; they've tested only 0.0745% of population as of Thursday Japan time. New Jersey, on the other hand, has tested more than 23 times more at 1.734%.

Women’s sports likely to bear brunt of coronavirus falloutapnews.com/f175563b2b7a0e5c221ac38fa0fbc224Athletes in individual sports could be hit hardest. Tennis, golf and track athletes are largely dependent on competing to earn a paycheck, and that’s currently impossible. The athletes face uncertainties going forward: When the events do return, will the sponsors remain? Will younger prospects fall away from those sports out of economic necessity?

Rationality is coming to recreational golf, but it's a slow trickle. Minnesota will lift its ban tomorrow, but the clown running Wisconsin won't do it until April 24. Per a WaPo article at msn.com, the sheriff in Dunn County, WI wasn't enforcing the ban because the governor's guidelines allowed for "socially distanced exercise." Duh! Why didn't anyone else there pick up on this? As of this moment, 15 states are banning golf. As for tournament golf, I'm worried that the goof running PA won't lift the ban in time for the KPMG/LPGA in June. It's two months away and they still haven't posted the public parking info on the tourney website. No way am I ordering tickets until this event looks 'solid'. ******** You would think that PGA Tour announcing its resumption in June (with special conditions, of course) would open the flood gates for the all the lesser tours to start making similar announcements ... well, I'm still waiting. Meanwhile, the JLPGA just ditched the Resort Trust Ladies (May 28-31). I am confused ... the USA (a nation of slobs, relatively speaking, with 685K CV19 cases) will start up the biggest tour in the world in mid-June, while Japan (a nation of clean freaks and golf maniacs with 10K cases) looks frozen with fear.

philknjPGA's Jay Monahan is counting on pervasive testing available by June; so he can test all players, caddies and all constituents in order to conduct the tournament. PGA has immense financial resource to ensure everyone involved in the tournament, which should be less than 1,000 people with no spectators, will be tested thoroughly. But, the tournament won't happen if Jay Monahan can't conduct the tests he wants.

philknj PGA's Jay Monahan is counting on pervasive testing available by June; "Counting on?" What does that mean? His tour travels from state-to-state every week. He can't rely on these politicians to have testing in place for him (most of them probably hate golf anyway). Someone should remind Jay that his tour has more money than the Queen of England ... how about buying a couple of Abbott Labs machines, contract for medical people to operate them and test everyone traveling with the tour every week or two. Even C.T. Pan would come out from under his bed for a setup like that. If this happened, the only remaining obstacles would be the status of each location. The first two weeks (Texas and S. Carolina) look good. The next week in CT might be iffy, but recreational golf is permitted there now. But, the fourth week, aigoo, inside the Detroit city limits ... "that woman" could still sabotage it. ********* The IMG Academy Junior World Championships in San Diego, scheduled for July, was cancelled ... obviously, since it would require kids from 50 countries to fly in for it. I hope KJ Choi can fly in his "kids" for his NJ junior tournament in late August. ********* The China News Network website has a couple of good articles this month on the situation in Japan. They're pretty-much screwed ... on a per-capita basis, they have five times fewer ICU beds compared to the U.S. On top of that, they don't believe in teleworking, use the subways and trains heavily and still use fax machines.

philknj Money isn't the only issue when it comes to testing. The companies, like Roche, who provide testing equipment and reagent are regulated by federal government. On the plus side, Jay has a direct line to the top. Mike Whan isn't as lucky; he doesn't have the money nor the connection.
