This is a pitiful course. The sad thing is next week is even worse. Wang is too busy picking the pockets of Asian sponsors to care.

Round 1 Interruptus We aren't finished with round one, but we are done with day one. It was AWESOME to see In Gee playing so well in a first round. In fact, the first round has been a bit of a bugaboo this season for a lot of the KLPGA-stars-turned-LPGA-rookies as well, but today Ha Na Jang shot a 4 under, Sei Young Kim a 3 under, and Q Baek has managed to go 3 under in just six holes completed. Hyo Joo is just even par so far, but also has only finished 6 holes. Anyone notice when they were showing the founders talking to some players, one shot showed them with big smiles talking to Se Ri? It was around 2 hours in if someone wants to review the tape. Looked like a mutual admiration society to me! I really love Tiffany Joh as a person, but it was *brutal* watching her putt. You think Ko gave away shots? Joh had something like four short putt misses in just the holes they showed. Then, just when you think she can't make anything, she dunks a six foot par save. Go figure. Amy is showing she is here to stay. I'd love to see her make another run at a title this weekend. In Gee's name is pronounced In Gee, as in letter G, not hard G like, uh, guffaw? GO SISTERS!!! Some pix Lydia In Gee Chun Ha Na Jang The Park Sisters Se Ri Pak w/ Inky Na Yeon Choi Hyo Joo Mirim Lee with a Yikes expression! MJ Hur Chella Jenny Shin

Putting my own $0.02 worth in on the major discussion: the majors are fine as they are, although I question Evian. My suggestion would be for the LPGA in conjunction with the other tours to designate certain events as part of a Women's World Golf Championship. With the regular events worth 500 CME points for the winner the five majors should be worth 750 (up from the present 625) so that the WWGC events would each be worth 625. There could also be a bonus pool for the players with the best cumulative results in this proposed series.
So which events should be in this proposed WWGC? The HSBC in Singapore would be a shoo in, and if they revive the match play that should also be in. An event during the fall Asian swing and the Canadian Open should also be considered. Your thoughts, everyone?

more made up stuff... i heard caddies saying at 9am "Desert courses don't dry" they didn't think they were going to play at all today. it was EXTREMELY wet when they started at 11am. And that is when they decide to go lift clean. Several times, players in my group got full relief because areas in center fairway were so wet. But if it looks OK on tv , then they must all be cheating wimps ( ) and about the boring easy course. who has won so far? Karrie, Yani, Stacy, and Karrie. HOF or future HOF. You must be a really boring guy to play golf with....assuming you play golf......where's your sense of humor....there was sarcasm written all over the lift, clean and cheat quote....I've played for over 4 decades and hear for the 1st from a new playing partner on Thursday and thought it was really funny. So Karrie, Yani & Lewis have won...it doesn't make the course exciting to watch nor tough to play....look at all the rank and file pros shooting low scores after day one. The only stress on 18 seems to be length and the LPGA may or may not shorten the hole on 18 over the weekend. I prefer to watch an event where there is stress...especially on the holes coming home.....look at some of the closing holes on the PGA tour on the recent Florida swing.

This is a pitiful course. The sad thing is next week is even worse. Wang is too busy picking the pockets of Asian sponsors to care. Isn't Aviara suppose to be a tough walk for the spectators? I can't remember....but doesn't Aviara have a really small range and it creates logistic issues for the gals? The LPGA doesn't have enough clout to negotiate great hosting venues unless they have the backing of the USGA....and hopefully the PGA of America will show some muscle to get the gals on some premier tracks in the US for the Women's PGA. Even Golf Canada doesn't have the fire power to get the gals on some of the premier courses like St. Georges (they use to host the Du Maurier decades ago), Hamilton Golf & CC, Shaughnessey, Royal Montreal, etc for the CWO. What I find shocking (but not surprised) is Pebble Beach has never hosted a LPGA....but likely the sponsors/LPGA can't afford the lease/rent payment to PB to shut the course down for 2 weeks to prep and play the course.

Your thoughts, everyone?Kevin Kevin Definitely some merit to your suggestion but I don't know what it would really accomplish. Would it drive more exposure to the LPGA?...I think not. The key criteria to these WWGC events would be purses that exceed or match $2.5M at a minimum. Yes.....I'd like to see match play return on the LPGA...but I'm a hard core LPGA....for the casual golf fan....match play doesn't draw much attention unless the popular pros advance deep into the brackets....if you have a bunch of no names on Sat & Sun...it's a bust. Look at the Sybase that was hosted in NJ....with a 8 million population to draw from within a 90 minute drive...they even had a free tix promo one year...yet it was poorly attended. I think the current 32 events is about the right number of events. But I think reallocation of host cities would be ideal to larger populations.....although those markets are very competitive for sports dollars especially in certain times of the year. I'd like to see more permanent events in LA, Chicago, Boston and for selfish reasons...the Portland event relocated to Seattle. Prattville....really......minimal galleries and a course that looks like a big farmer's field.....there are far superior courses on the Robert Trent Jones golf trail.

Hyo Joo Kim surged this morning with a 7 under par 65! She's currently all by herself in second place behind Lewis, who shot a 64. Q Baek ended up with a 69, 24th place right now. So that means all five of the KLPGA star rookies (+ In Gee) shot in the 60s in round one. Good job, ladies!!! Go Sisters!

mr3putt: THEORETICALLY, having 34 events would be better...they’ve got prime open slots this year for May 7-10 and May 21-24. Only one problem: fill the schedule too much and all the top players will start skipping events. That’s one reason why Corning died…I still remember Bivens presenting the club some kind of “tombstone plaque” at the last Corning. mr3putt: I think you rebutted your opinion quite effectively! They’ve given the NYC area numerous locales in the last 15-20 years (Wykagil, Sleepy Hollow, Upper Montclair CC, Hamilton Farm GC), but nothing seems to stick. I don’t think they’ve tried Long Island recently, but the 2013 USWO at Sebonack might have given them some ideas. Aren’t they planning to rotate the LPGA Championship to different places and where? It’s at Westchester CC this year...maybe I’ll go, but I hate driving into the NYC area. Maybe they’ll set up a shuttle from a train station. I was last there in ’93 watching the PGA Tour guys. What we don’t know is how popular pro-ams are from one market to the next. The Atlantic City area is not a huge market, but the Shop-Rite pro-ams are crazy big. They’ll do four different golf courses...many pros playing both days…they even bring in a bunch of Symetra players and retiree pros. They must be raking in tons of money. I think the Springfield, IL event had trouble filling their pro-am spots, which may be one reason why it’s gone.

mr3putt: Funny that you mention this...I’ve experimented with Lamkin the last few years: Crossline, REL 3 GEN, and Perma-wrap (C. Kerr has used Crossline). The main thing on my mind is grip size. I have a feeling I need to go bigger in size or use more grip tape. I want to confirm this first with a pro. When you feel the club twist in your right hand at impact, that's bad! Getting rid of the glove has also crossed my mind...frickin’ nuisance, always wearing out, and the good ones are not cheap. Dynamite Round 2 by one of my favorites, Mi Hyang Lee. She's -6 for the day with #18 to play (-8 overall).

Ya.....so many events in the NYC area that can't stick...but entertainment dollars is so competitive in big markets too. Let's face it.....women's golf isn't popular....the galleries at Sebonack were dismal....there were excuses about the traffic problems getting to Sebonack...yet they've always sold out the USO at Shinnecock across the street. Didn't realize the traffic is that brutal to drive from NJ to Westchester. Ya...there's a guy on WRX that plays in the Shoprite pro-am with some of his customers....it's huge......additionally they also bring in past Big Break gals to fill in as pros too. With the downturn in the economy....the Safeway went from 3 days to 4 days before it went defunct after 2013 because they had difficulty filling in spots for the 2 day pro-ams.

I just pick up a set of new Cobra Amp Cells for $275 last night....it's really tough to get some smokin deals that are so frequent in the US which allows for some good club ho'ing in the US.....they have REL 3 GEN grips.....and I've read good reviews on the feel of those grips. I think you've got to experiment to find out what works best as far as grip size. But just when you put on extra tape...the following week you wish you didn't. I really like the soft feel of the Winn Dri-Tec's. Do you have a Golfsmith nearby? Although they don't carry as many grips as they use to. I have found some nice success with some Golfsmith, Snake Eye & Medalist grips that I've been able to pick up for around $2/grip.....including corded grips. Heck...I think some of these grips come from the same factory as the OEM's...especially the Snake Eye grips. Experiment with a couple....worst case scenario...you put on 3 different grips for only $6 and if you don't like them rip them off. I assume you do your own re-grips...it's very simple....I don't even own or use a vise. I like to tinker to make sure the grips feel good in my hands. Though currently....I've got 7 different golf grip models on my 13 clubs. So are you saying the club shaft twists under the grip or the club twists in your right hand.....is this something new that never existed before?....maybe tape fatigue? I've never heard of this issue.
