It is essential to get a major in Asia and six is too many. The US Open is the only one that really matters, the Evian has paid too much in bribes and it would be a slap in the face to the UK if the British is cancelled. That means either Dinah or the LPGA will be phased out. I am not for it, just being realistic.

In ten years the only U.S. major will be the U.S. Open. Poppie's Pond will be drained and serve as additional parking for the club members. You better put your flame suit on before SYS roasts you for your derogatory comment.

"i reject your reality and substitute my own!" - Adam Savage In addition to your entirely warped an incorrect interpretation of what happened to the Dinah Shore.... if you had a secret vote where LPGA players had to Sophie's Choice between the US Open and The Dinah?...... you would be shocked. Nobody else would, but mr3putt would be shocked All those players who publicly say The Dinah is their favorite event??, all the love and extra coverage from Golf Channel?? ... mr3putt sees right through that charade You're delusional if you think the players would rather win the Dinah/KNC or ANA...or whatever it's called trophy..... over a USWO trophy. Ya....the Dinah may have been popular with some older and now retired lesbian players....I believe the Spring Break LGBT Desert Conference has been relocated to LA or Vegas and with a more predominately heterosexual tour....any popularity has sunk. Rather than talk about hearsay and some make believe secret vote.....come up with some facts about the greatness of the Dinah...you always skirted the issue when it's been addressed to you. Here are some of the facts why the Dinah is not a great event.....let alone major. 1) It took 7 months after the defunct KNC to announce a new sponsor. I'm quite confident that Whan and his team were trying to source a sponsor back in 2013....when KNC wouldn't commit to a longer term renewal.....obviously many corporations found low ROI or poor brand partnering with the Dinah...to void a sponsorship....and the ANA has major status. 2) The last few years....attendance has been mediocre...especially on Thurs/Fri....the grandstands behind the 18th green were vacant....so how popular is this event that fans won't make the trek to the desert to attend. 3) The ANA has the smallest purse of the majors.....a distant $500,000 behind the WBO. 4) Yes, we get some good coverage on GC.....but many households don't subscribe to GC.....the ANA is not popular enough to be carried by the major networks...the USWO & Women's PGA is covered by the major networks on the weekend. 5) What's so special about the venue/course?....it doesn't even crack the top 50 courses in California.....is it even in the top 100?....even the overpriced and very meh Harding Park muni broke into the top 50. www.golfdigest.com/golf-courses/california www.top100golfcourses.co.uk/htmlsite/area.asp?Move=Previous&id=40

I don't think it's 'essential' to get a major into the Pac Rim.....but I do think Asia 'deserves' to obtain a major. Both Japan and S. Korea have demonstrated their love for women's golf. Both countries have women's golf tours that have many events....their female golf pros are corporately sponsored...even the rank and file pros. S. Koreans are so golf crazed....they even have a women's screen golf tour. Golf seems to be ingrained culturally....it would be even more popular is it was economical to play in S. Korea, which it is not....which is a shame. From what I see in Vancouver....Asian ladies are even committed to play during our mucky golf conditions during the winter.....you'll often see groups of Asian lady golfers or Asian ladies playing with their spouses. You won't find many Caucasian female golfers in the winter.....maybe at the private clubs. I do enjoy the WBO....but they have never been well attended.

I hope Whan initiates a policy that all LPGA pros must be able to speak proficient Korean or face suspension....oh what......... You're joking, but I hope Whan does tell them to learn a few lines of Korean and Japanese -- given not just these events, but other 'presented by' events like the next few that JTBC presents but isn't the top sponsor, the American gals should be doing whatever they can to keep the sponsors happy!! Won and yen talks! (I saw a clip online of Bo Mee Lee and Ha Neul Kim at a Honma event. Bo Mee by now is virtually fluent in Japanese, and even Ha Neul, new to the JLPGA tour, spoke a few lines in Japanese to the applause of the audience). ? ? WTA players are very good about doing that. Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Victoria Azarenka all make the effort.

Back to the tournament. After 7 holes, Se Ri is in very good shape. Except for Ko, the players ahead of her are a bunch of no names.

You are correct. A close friend of mine is a hard core lesbian. She has always attends the Dinah Shore. She used to have a field day when Betsy King, Amy Alcott, Webb and Kelly Robbins were major names. She told me that few of the Asian players are bisexual. Perhaps the key to returning the Dinah Shore to its former status is to encourage more lesbians to play golf.

If anyone is curious like I was, Caroline Masson is on the header on LPGA's JTBC Founders Cup leaderboard. She's sponsored by Zulow Electronics.

I only watched Masson for 1 hole in 2013....she seems like she can have a temper if things don't go well. If I recall...wasn't there some drama between Xtina & Masson after the 2013 Solheim. Xtina.... I believe was working as an analyst for Sky Sports. I think Xtina tweeted for Masson to keep it classy. I might imagine....Xtina was trying to crash a late night Euro party and maybe Masson told Xtina to FO and get lost. I luv the Solheim...so much drama...especially from the Yanks. Ole Ole!!!

I caught the last 30 minutes tonight. Katie Burnett plays without a glove...I'm drawing a blank on another woman pro who does that. The only male pro I can think of is Fred Couples. Nice to see Sun Young Yoo (69, 3 under) get some airtime. I recall hearing how cool she was during a pro-am. I'll have to check her out in AC. I remember watching her for about three holes at the Sybase about six years ago...and not short with the driver.

Early thoughts:
Lydia Ko is, once again, right at the top of the leaderboard. She's the player to beat every week, but that's nothing new.
Of all the Sisters, I like where Amy Yang is sitting. In Gee is one back, and I think she can be a factor, but she isn't as hot of a player as Yang is right now. SooBin is also two back, but this is uncharted territory for her. Yang is a good chaser - she'll continue to try and be solid.
Se Ri at -2. Pretty good start. I don't expect much from Pak this year, so any event where she makes money is good.

Glover, Byrd, Pavin & Olberhoser don't wear a glove and I can't think of a woman pro who doesn't wear a glove. I stopped wearing a glove around 1994.....it was hot playing in the BC Interior on vacation and I wanted a bit more feel on my driver......eventually I just stopped wearing a glove. Too offset this.....I play with Lamkin Crossline full cords.....Lamkin are great grips....I can get them to last for well over 3 years minimum....just clean them and then take some sandpaper to them when they are dry....to expose more cord. Before 1994....I found it hard to play without a glove....felt like I had no power in my grip. A playing partner is using the Winn Dri-Tec's.....I really like the soft feel....for me they help promote the avoidance of a death grip. I just put on a jumbo Winn Dri-Tec putter grip to replace a 7 year old Tiger Shark. I'm surprised Tiger Shark is now pretty well a dead brand....Super Stroke has now monopolized the putter grip segment and moving into the standard grip market.

From what we saw on coverage, Ko could have easily been at -9...left two putts 2" short and a really poor 3 jack. This is a boring course...and it's also the composite set-up too. No stress off the tee, minimal problems around the greens or the putting surfaces and minimal rough. I realize it rained....but hey it's Phoenix...the course didn't look that wet...they were even playing lift, clean and cheat...lol.....I laughed when a playing partner yesterday said lift, clean and cheat when we were playing in the muck.

more made up stuff... i heard caddies saying at 9am "Desert courses don't dry" they didn't think they were going to play at all today. it was EXTREMELY wet when they started at 11am. And that is when they decide to go lift clean. Several times, players in my group got full relief because areas in center fairway were so wet. But if it looks OK on tv , then they must all be cheating wimps ( ) Mini Se Ri Port. I didn't think they were going to play at all today, but by Se Ri's third hole... it was perfect weather the rest of the day. 12- 14 fairways, that's what i thought. And usually center fairway 14-18 GIR... i actually thought it was better than that. 2 - two perfect shots, close pitch, 2' for birdie.... Go Se Ri !!! 3 - birdie chance missed 8-10 footer 5 - another par 5, another 2' birdie 6 - OH, missed a three footer for birdie. Tee shot right on it 7 - awwww, another missed three foot birdie putt after two great shots. 8 - bounced off right bank into water, took a drop. getting just single bogey was great work 9 - and get's it right back on the next hole WOO !! 10 - tee shot perfect but worries me by rubbing her shoulder after. 11 - less than 4' foot for birdie misses 12 - WAYY left. So bad she plays a provisional. I thought OB but they found it in a bush. took a drop. hit from there, not on green, two putts for double 15 - 20 footer for EAGLE , after putt she says loud enough for all too hear "i didn't hit it!" come up short. 2' birdie 16 - just another perfect tee shot, approach and short putt -2 with a bogey and a double is pretty good. and she played better than the score. Even the standard bearer guy said at one point Se Ri should be at -5 and about the boring easy course. who has won so far? Karrie, Yani, Stacy, and Karrie. HOF or future HOF.
