OK, so the early morning broadcast was actually a condensed version of yesterday's broadcast. Still cool. If I get to bed early tonight, I should be able to see some of round 2 tomorrow.
The Japanese players are also doing well here. I hope to see them on TV on the weekend.
Of the 63 players making the cut, only 6 are European.

I will post some more tomorrow morning.
The course due to rain is playing soft, greens holding shots and slow greens....not an ideal USWO set-up....therefore the course's defense in length. So Mike Davis better play it tomorrow at least 6500+ yards...so Amy doesn't go to double digits and runs away from the field and makes for a boring Sunday. Assuming there's a good risk/reward par 4....gotta believe a drivable par 4 will be in play tomorrow.
Ya, can't have six par 4's under 370 yds like today at a USWO....these gals are too good for that.
It's too bad the weather had not cooperated....a firm and baked out Lancaster would have been fun.

I'm disappointed the course is only 6344 yds today.....I really wanted to see the gals struggling and having longer approach shots.
Mike Davis needs to cancel all future USWO venues and make Lancaster the permanent USWO site. Supposedly 21,000 and 22,000 through the gates the past two days and 25,000 expected each day on the weekend....kudos!! Too bad it's too cold in Pennsylvania in March.....they should move the ANA from PS (where no one attends) to Lancaster. OK....Lancaster deserves to be the 6th major.
Yikes....HYK...her 1st cut. Gotta believe Queen Bee will be lurking come Sunday. If Lewis makes a charge today....I'll be changing my avatar....Anthony style.

Yes yes yes, of course I followed EK and Maria B. for a few holes on Thursday...and who says I won't see EK at the 2017 USWO at Trump National? She qualified easily this year and I doubt she'll be washed up in 2017...and I hope she drags Bo Mee Lee with her. Erika was invited to practice with LPGA royalty on Wednesday: It took 55 minutes before Fox Sports finally showed Mi Hyang today and her "tangerine" ball. Her coverage has been extremely minimal, but she won't go away...just two shots back. Brad Faxon loved her address position at the par-3 12th and noticed her fitness...sorry Brad, I have a senior tenured position on Team Mi Hyang...the best I can give you is a ceremonial associate position. Phil So would you trade Erika and Bo Mee in ........to see Sharon and Sky (I think you saw HNK at Sebonack in 2013) at the 2017 USWO. I'm glad to see MHL on coverage....I'll have to watch her for some holes in Van City. Does MHL have a bit of a temper?...she looked PO'd after her approach on 18. Phil...if I mention your name to MHL in August, will she: a) be glad and then off me a VIP clubhouse pass b) say hi and ask if I want a drink from the tee box cooler c) call LPGA security and ask I be escorted off the premise because one fanboy (you) is one too many for her.

I'm hoping the 2017 venue will spur Ochoa to return. Although Trump probably won't allow her on the grounds. She might rob the place. So will The Donald introduced Lizette Salas as a murderer and Gaby Lopez as a rapist on the 1st tee at the 2017 USWO? fanofseri....you're sarcasm is 2nd to none....kudos!!!

Some really good pairings today. So will The Pink Diva be pouting like a little girl because 16 yrs old Muni He will be upstaging Mrs. Heath for all the attention in her pairing....that would be fun to watch.
Hopefully Muni tries to Monday qualify for the CP CWO so the 400,000 Chinese will have someone to cheer for....Muni lived in Van City for a few years before moving to So Cal.

Another mediocre showing so far by Lydia in a major. She's playing tight and nervous....many approach shots short, minimal close shots to the pins and many putts left short. Jason tell Lydia to relax. Jason is toast come Monday...rumor is The Dragon Lady has made Paul Fusco an offer he can't refuse....Tina likes the loyalty of a loop willing to cheat for his player. From WRX.....Deadbetter is not happy that Papa Ko dragged Lydia to the range 2 hrs early yesterday to work on a few things...therefore changing her routine. Hmmm....are we looking at BJ Wie version 2. Looks like Lydia might soon be another Wie saga. It will be all confirmed when she continues with the A swing, we see a Swoosh on her bag, she's wrapped up like a mummy with KT tape, starts to WD from events and we hear more "um's" and "you know" in her press conferences. On another note....not much attention given to Team Henderson...only made the cut by one....is her WD from the Pam Am games upsetting the Golf Gods?

I'm never one to try and pile on the "3Putt Ko Slam Jam", but I heard the story about Lydia Ko's dad taking Lydia to the range two hours early without Leadbetter signing on. What is up with that? You hire a coach for a reason. If you're going to jump in and try to change things, you might as well cut ties with the guy that's supposed to be taking care of all of this.
It's similar but different to the Wie's. It took Michelle years to win, and Lydia is winning right now. It is obvious, however, that the Ko Family is putting way too much pressure on Lydia during the majors, and that's why she struggles.

Some round 2 thoughts - Wow, I have to admit that Hyo Joo missing the cut was not something I was expecting. Not only has she never finished outside the top 30 in all the LPGA events she has ever played (dating back to 2012), she won just last week in China. But perhaps the jet lag coming from half way round the world was too much for her? I'm pretty sure it was the weight of all those logos on her shirt that caused the MC. I think the Golf Gods don't like the NASCAR look.

Re: the Fox coverage - on the plus side we're seeing way more golf shots than on regular tour events. Fox obviously has lots of cameras on the course , and they switch quickly so it's continual action. Unlike usual LPGA events where we get l o n g lingering shots of the trees with only occasional golf shots.
On the negative side why can't they fix the ambient noise problem?? Most of the time you can't hear the hole announcers or the player/caddie discussions at all.

It is obvious, however, that the Ko Family is putting way too much pressure on Lydia during the majors, and that's why she struggles. And you don't think BJ had put huge pressure on Michelle to win a major. I've seen a miserable MW several times on the putting green with BJ standing no further than 10 feet away...dragging a tired and hungry MW onto the practice green after her round at Pumpkin in the evening. This was the event I saw BJ was carrying a handful of maps and notes....I can almost confident he's not keeping this info to himself....likely going over each course detail at dinner or back at the hotel. We all thought it was bad enough with The Dragon Lady now Papa Ko has joined in. It seems like the Dad's on tour that I've noticed when attending events get all jacked up on their daughter's play, yet many of the mom's quietly just follow without much fanfare. It's in Lydia's head.....she's very capable to win a major...she should tell the media and others to FO and leave her alone. I don't see Ko winning a major this year to break Pressel's age record.

I think the Golf Gods don't like the NASCAR look. Did you steal this from either Faxon or was Flesch who said yesterday that MHL looked like a NASCAR driver. I think it's great the Korean pros are well supported and sponsored by many companies. Though I'm shocked and perplexed that Amy's front cap is blank....same last year or the year before when we saw a blank cap on Se Ri's cap.

However in resent years they seem to have really cut back.
In my opinion, they don't really care to much about the LPGA. Their main focus is the PGA. They just want the LPGA money.
