Ok, so...Hyo Joo Kim CAN'T earn official money this week, but can next week.
This is part of the reason why these limited field events need to go.

Ok, so...Hyo Joo Kim CAN'T earn official money this week, but can next week. This is part of the reason why these limited field events need to go. How confusing is this as i expanded the HSBC Singapore criteria for # 10:
www.hsbcgolf.com/womens/who-is-qualifying/ 10. Two (2) sponsor invites •Alternates for the Sponsor Invite will be determined by the tournament sponsor •If there is not a Sponsor Invite available, the spot will then be filled by the next available LPGA Member from the LPGA alternate list. •If a Sponsor Invite gains entry via 4-7 above, she will remain a Sponsor Invite, but her money will be official for the purpose of the LPGA Official Money List.
So, for the HSBC Singapore Tournament a sponsor invite, who has won a LPGA 2015, her monies will be counted on LPGA Official Money List?
OK, this mean than the winner of 2015 Honda Thailand does not need to take membership immediately by winning this LPGA event, gets into HSBC Singapore, is a Sponsor Invite and her monies won will counted as LPGA Official Money List?
Hyo Joo Kim won in 2014 as LPGA non-member and is a sponsor invite to Honda Thailand as LPGA member, but her monies will NOT be official, but Sei Young Kim wins in 2015 as a LPGA member and her monies will count as official?
So, if, Hyo Joo Kim wins at Honda Thailand as sponsor invite and LPGA member her monies will count as official?
NOTE: In 2014 Lydia Ko was a sponsor invite and can anyone verify if her monies counted as official?

They wouldn't have all these issues if they would just limit the number of sponsor's exemptions to 2 per year (like it used to be before Michelle Wie).
I think they are afraid of someone getting a cheap route to getting/keeping her card by entering a bunch of guaranteed money events; but if you can only do two of them, that probably can't happen (it also can't happen for non-members if you eliminate the ability to get on the tour based on money earned, which was a suggestion I had above!).

On a unrelated note. Yoon Kyung Heo got an invite to the Volvik Championship on the Symetra Tour. I don't remember is she sponsored by Volvik. Jimin Kang is also in the field. She got a top four last week at the Gateway tournament. Cool, I didn't catch Heo being in this field! I think she is Srixon, not Volvik, IIRC. I'll be paying attention to see how she does!

She is NOT a sponsor invitee at the HSBC. She earned her way in. That is why the money counts.
Yes, I understand Hyo Joo Kim is not a sponsor invite to HSBC. But, if, any sponsor invitee to the Honda Thailand wins and now plays the HSBC via criteria # 7, she will remain a sponsor invite at the HSBC and her monies will count. But, a sponsor invite at Honda Thailand monies do NOT count as official. It seems there are 2 different rules for Honda Thailand and HSBC Singapore? One could say under the LPGA Rules a sponsor invite victory are NOT official at Honda Thailand?

I don't understand why everyone is getting so worked up over this. So Hyo-Joo's earnings won't count for one week. Next week they count in Singapore. After that she will be in the field every week (if she chooses to play). When the tour returns to Asia for 6 more events at the end of the year, they do not use the Priority list for those tournaments. They use the 2015 money list. If Hyo-Joo is as good as we all think she is, she should have no problem being in the top 65 and qualifying. Last year Jaye Marie Green had her best finish early in the year and her earnings didn't count. It almost cost her her card. Nobody made mention of it on any of the boards because it was Jaye Marie Green. Hy0-Joo is a going to be an LPGA superstar. Stop worrying about one event....I am sure she couldn't care less. The money she earns this week will spend just like it was official money. Yes, understood tonyj5, but the points here are why and how does the LPGA allow for differing rules for official monies on a sponsor invite in different tournaments? Also, you bring up a good point on Jaye Marie Green and luckily, she was able to keep her card, but this one tournament loss of monies could have cost her or anyone else on a sponsor invite dearly.
Yes, one tournament monies could be the difference in retaining your card, top 80, POY and ROY, etc. and not only could it affect Hyo Joo Kim, but one of the other sponsor invitees Ariya Jutanugarn, Ai and Mika Miyazato, Cheyenne Woods, Thidapa Suwannapura and MJ Hur (Don't know, why MJ is a sponsor invite).

Not one has also commented that Kendall Dye (who?...lol) is not really a rookie neither...she's toiled on the Symetra Tour for many years. There are a few members who only get jacked up over a player based on nationality or race. IMO...golf is primarily an individual sport....so cheered for them individually like we Canucks. I'm a Canadian born Chinese.....you don't see me get all excited over any Canadian or Chinese player. Heck....I don't even like Lorie Kane or Mike Weir. If Hee Young Park beat Shanshan Feng for a win....I'm a HAPPYFAN! My favorite players are from all countries...US, Spain, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Sweden, UK, S. Korea, New Zealand, etc etc

I wonder if the PGA tour has all these little quirks like the LPGA?....lol
Heck the LPGA can't even develop a user friendly website. The Blue on Blue site created and managed by the high school intern was much better than the new website created by supposed 'professionals'. So don't be surprised that the LPGA has a player's entry/qualification list that is based on some complex algorithm....lol

I am not sure how long the LPGA will keep their old website format running, but i find it more useful, so, here's the link:

I wonder if the PGA tour has all these little quirks like the LPGA?....lol Non-members get their money added up separately from members. If you earn as much or more than the 125th FedEx Cup finisher the previous year, you can take up Special Temporary Membership, which allows you unlimited sponsor exemptions for the rest of the year. Also, it guarantees you a card for the following year. If you win, all money and points earned previous count towards your year end total, and you retroactively become a member. This applies for all events, including limited field WGC events.

I for one never saw anything written about Jaye Marie until now, or any other sponsor invite. I am not getting worked up and I care about other LPGA members, except maybe two. If the LPGA would keep fans better informed, about their rules. There would be no need for these debates.

When you first come to this site it read "SeoulSister" Blog. All about the Korean Golfers on the LPGA tour. That is why most of the comments are about the sisters.

This is a forum about Korean women golfers - and you're surprised that we are focusing on Korean women golfers here? LOL. Feel free to talk about whomever you want, but don't be surprised if the folks here primarily focus on the athletes who are the whole point of this place!! As for the official money brouhaha. I'm personally annoyed by it because it is so convoluted and unnecessary; I'm certainly not losing sleep over it. But you'd think they'd WANT to do whatever they can to encourage a top ten in the world player to play their events! Silly silly LPGA!
