Hee Young Park is also missing this tournament. I wonder if she will be there anyway to support her sister. In her first tournament as an LPGA member.

I also notice that Inky is in the field this week. Last year she didn't make her first appearance until Phoenix, and never really got on track. Nice to see her a little earlier this year!

Hee Young Park is also missing this tournament. I wonder if she will be there anyway to support her sister. In her first tournament as an LPGA member. I would think if she was there she would play. I couldn't list everyone not playing....it would be easier listing who is playing. I did not expect you to list everyone missing the tournament. I was just wondering if she would be there to support her sister.

The Rocket has been in Orlando hanging out with her gal pals, Sandra G & Anna N....you know they'll be flying together to Thailand next week. twitter.com/heeyounglpga

Unidentified head cover (probably belongs to Mariajo Uribe or Sydnee Michaels) It could also be from Ryann O'Toole or Mo Martin too.

NYC w/ Callaway iron is +1 Are those Cally Apex's? The X Forged were a really popular iron on the LPGA. Both are very sweet clubs. What clubs did NYC game before?

This is a weak field....many premier pros are sitting out and I think 10 of 20 eligible Rolex top ranked pros are absent.
It's a shame because Royal Melbourne.....depending on which list you read...is either #9 or #13 of the world's best golf courses.....the women seldom play on the top world's courses.
It's great that Dr. Handa is sponsoring this event....but money talks....up the purse and more premier pros will attend.
Royal Melbourne requires great course mgmt knowing where to hit your approach shots and a sharp short game. Lots of no names on top after day one....but I expect them to eventually succumb.
Come late Sunday...I expect Lydia, Webb, Korda and the Hulk (Ha Na Jang) to contend. Ariya patience and wild play may take her out of contention. Hopefully Charley learned from her mistakes from last week.
Ryu continues to get in her own way...+4....and she has a big advantage....Tom Watson...her loop...grew up playing RM.
NYC continues to get snubbed....she was in the TV window and nothing...yet #230 ranked Cheyenne Woods was shown frequently. I believe IMG manages the Asia Pacific swing productions.
The firm conditions and trickiness around the greens of Royal Melbourne is exposing the weakness and lack of imagination by some pros.

I also wonder if the course has something to do with the pros not playing, as well. Not that it's a bad course - it's gorgeous - but it'a quite difficult. Perhaps many top pros are telling themselves not to get beaten up this early when there is so much more golf to be played.

Whew, that was a brutal first day for many of the Sisters. I'm particularly perplexed by So Yeon's +4 round. Her caddie is a former member at this course; she's coming off a top ten and took extra time to prepare by skipping the Bahamas. She's been in Australia for weeks. And the last time she played this course, she was a four foot putt away from winning. She even played a practice round with a guy who wrote a book about this very course. And she still produced a terrible round that could have been even worse if not for a couple of good par saves coming in. Yeesh. Ryu in a practice round. Love this outfit! Q Baek continues to struggle with her own +4. It is a mark of where she is that she has not made par or better in seven LPGA rounds this year. Meanwhile, Ju Young Park, in her first ever LPGA round, shot an even par round. I know Baek is better than Park by quite a bit. Looks like she'll have a bit of learning and adjusting to the LPGA before she can get to the heights we have seen her reach before. Then there was Su Oh shooting a +6. Coming off a win and a second place, with the aforementioned golf book writer on her bag, she still wasn't ready to deal with the toughness. Ditto Minjee Lee. I'm not feeling Il Hee for the win, nor Kwak, but great job by them nonetheless. Ha Na Jang played well as did Chella, but neither of them have an LPGA win yet. Perhaps this could be Jang's week; she HAS to be juiced by what Sei Young did two weeks ago. Chella was in it til the end last year at this event but couldn't make the final birdie she needed to catch Webb. Fighting!!!!

Perhaps many top pros are telling themselves not to get beaten up this early when there is so much more golf to be played. I think it's lame that many gals don't want to play Royal Mebourne. Pebble Beach is ranked near RM....would the gals skip Pebble? I'm kinda surprised but not surprised that the gals have never played a tournament at Pebble. I think it's all about the dollar. Assuming tee times are in 10 minute increments....Pebble is racking up $12,000 per hour in green fees alone....never mind caddie/carts, F&B and other revenue from paying golfers....most and many on expense accounts. And how many spectators would pay $500-$800/night to stay at The Inn @ Pebble. So any sponsor would likely have to provide on top of the usual purse and infrastructure build....likely $1M - $2M in additional lease payments to prep and hold the event for 2 weeks. If anyone was to fork over the dollars...I think it would be the USGA to hold a UWSO....it really is a shame it hasn't done so yet. But in my eyes....Bandon is a superior golf experience to Pebble from what I've read on the internet.....a soon to be bucket list item. But Bandon does have the infrastructure for a large event and is fairly remote.

Yes, I like Ryu and she a multiple winner and USWO champ...but I don't think she's as mentally tough as the top 3 gals...which is a shame....absolutely with her prep and Tom looping....kinda shocking a +4...hopefully she'll rebound. I like what I'm seeing from the Hulk so far this year...she's got some spunk. Yes, Oh's +6 is a shock. Though Minjee is from Oz....I think she's from Perth and I think their courses are not like the sand belt courses like RM.

Huh...I just read that Charley Hull.....4 and 3 jacked yesterday. She also 3 putted from 3 feet last week. Did everyone notice how defensive the gals were putting on day 1...supposedly it's been very dry and they also lengthened the course by 400 yards.
The wind was benign yesterday...watch out if it gets breezy...ouch.
Some of these bomber youngsters can't putt...Charley, Lexi, Korda, etc.
