Almost the same format as last year: Eight foursome matches on Friday, Eight four ball matches on Saturday, and sixteen singles matches on Sunday. The big change is that you get two points for a win...it was three points last year, which made the outcome less predictable. I guess they don't want too much separation between Japan/Korea and LET/ALPG. The venue is Miyoshi CC and the JLPGA website seems to imply that they are only playing nine holes of West course (par 37, 3179 yards). Live scoring: www.mbs.jp/thequeens2016/score/Assuming ALPG is the weakest team again, Korea caught a break by playing them twice on Friday. Japan will play the LET twice. The pivotal match will be Korea vs. Japan (Shin/Ko vs. Oyama/Suzuki), where Korea has a small edge on paper. Team captains...Suzuki & Oyama aren't stressing about their Friday match.

Shin/Ko is the best possible team in this entire tournament. I sure hope they win, no matter whom they are matched against.
Go Sisters!!!

It's surprising that there's no TV coverage at all for Friday's matches. It appears that the LET article I read was wrong about how many points are awarded to a winner. It's still three points, not two...the live scoreboard just gave the JLPGA (Ryu/Hori) three points for knocking off the LET (Parker/Hall), 2&1. Oyama and Shin, JLPGA one-up thru 14 holes...MSK5 and Su Yeon Jang are only up by one thru 16 holes against the ALPG

It's deja vu all over again. Japan ran the table and picked up 12 points. Korea is tied with the LET at 6 points and the Aussies were shut out (they could do so much better if Karrie and Minjee weren't golf snobs). "The best team in the tournament" never had a lead and lost one-up to Oyama and Suzuki. Kikuchi/Watanabe gagged down the stretch before beating LET's Morgan/Wessberg at the 18th hole...ancient Catriona picked up a win with Nanna Cursed Mad over ALPG'S Kemp/Keating.

you were correct originally, a win is 2 points not 3. that initial 3pts given to japan for the first win was changed to 2 points on the website leaderboard.
nice rnd one sweep for team japan !!!

Shin/Ko is still the best team in this tournament. Alas, best doesn't always win, and they didn't pull it out here (although they were close).
And that was probably the difference. They win that and it's a match. Now they are once again playing catch up, like they did the entire week last year.
I'm not overly confident about this Korean squad to be honest. Not nearly as strong as last year, and certainly nothing like the teams Korea used to send to routinely annihilate Japan back when it was a two team event.
Korea has their chance tomorrow. They will face Japan twice. If they want to win this, I think they need to send a message and take both of those matches. If they don't there's probably no way they're going to win this.
Korea Hwaiting!

Unfortunately for Korea; KLPGA have a superiority complex and they don't take this event seriously.
