The Kowa Queens is the annual event that pits the KLPGA, JLPGA, LET and ALPG against one another in a team format. Last year the JLPGA edged out the KLPGA for the prize.
The KLPGA has announced their 9 member team, which will consist of 7 KLPGA stars and two guests. The KLPGA squad was based off the money list at the end of the Pak Se Ri Invitational. They are: Sung Hyun Park, Jin Young Ko, Su Yeon Jang, Seon Woo Bae, Seung Hyun Lee, Min Sun Kim and Cecilia Cho. Min Young Lee would have qualified, but she will be playing the JLPGA Q School that week.
Also on the team will be Jiyai Shin and Hae Rym Kim from the KLPGA. No LPGA members this time (last year Sei Young Kim was on the squad).
The event takes place December 2 - 4th in Japan.

Last year Japan didn't use any non-JLPGA ringers. Are they allowed to do that? Mika and Sakura would be nice additions. On paper, the Koreans would be favored, but not by an overwhelming margin. ROK seems to under-perform in the team matches.

although she is only 23ys old, i hope ayaka watanabe is made captain, it seems she could use a little moral boost to jumpstart her game. the two captain picks will be interesting, i like: ayaka matsumori, kotone kozuma, megumi kido, erina hara and the amateurs nasa hataoka or megumi katsu in that order. shiho oyama had her day in the sun at the rio olympics.

More than likely it will be Ayaka Matsumori and Megumi Kido with a possibility of Momoko Ueda to come in due to experience.

If Japanese culture is like Korean, there's no way a young player like Watanabe would be named captain. If cuteness points count, they need to add Matsumori and Kozuma. Forget about Nasa, she will be in Stage 3 LPGA q-school. I expect the LET and Aussie teams to be shark chum again, even though I haven't read who will play for them. Their captains will be Trish Johnson and Rachel Hetherington, respectively.

If cuteness counts then Matsumori and Kido have got the last two places, they are both statuesque 5'8 and are not two shy about wearing short skirts which brings in the old men crowd..

Further proof this is a meaningless FAKE exhibition when the Ozzie team excludes Minjee and Webb. The LET team is pretty weak too.

I've seen her name before, but I know nothing about Megumi Shimokawa, so I looked her up...a 33-year-old journeywoman who's having her first really good season on the JLPGA (22nd on money list). She showed up at the last two Majors...T-2 at LPGA/Minolta Cup and T-4 at JWO. Shiho is older than dirt, but she is aging like fine wine...I saw her a little bit at Round Two of the 2009 USWO...her upright swing caught my attention. The AP took her pic that day:

Not exactly the strongest squad Korea could send. It will be interesting to see if they are able to win this thing without anyone from the LPGA (last year they had Sei Young Kim, plus Sung Hyun Park, Bo Mee Lee and In Gee Chun, who were top quality golfers not on the LPGA).

This is the only game in town this week.
Korean team looks really strong; many of them played very well against LPGA squad this past week.
