"In Gee Chun World Ranking" is the fifth most popular search on the Korean sports site I go to; Sung Hyun Park is 7th, Amy "Hee Young" Yang is 8th.

Poor So Yeon even overlooked in Korea.

Poor So Yeon even overlooked in Korea. She is popular, but she needs to have a multiple win season to push herself into the top ranks (or she needs to take the plunge at ANA -- I guarantee if there is a photo of So Yeon emerging from the water there it will be the biggest viral sensation of the year in Korea). In Gee still has the Majors and post-season awards from last year, Inbee is the gold medalist, and Sung Hyun Park is the Next Big Thing. To stand out in that crowd, Ryu needs an accomplishment of her own that gets her into the conversation.

Inbee earned 55.02 points for her win, less than Amy's 57.18 Thailand win. She moved up 3 spots to No. 9.
In Gee lucked out, dropping just one spot to 4th; because fellow 3-8 players didn't place inside solo top 3.
In Gee can reclaim No. 3 with a solo top 3 in her next tournament; but she needs at least 2 wins to overtake Ariya as No. 2.

Six Koreans in the top ten:
4. In Gee Chun (-1) 5. Ha Na Jang (+1) 6. So Yeon Ryu (+!) -- imagine her ranking if she ever starts winning! 8. Amy Yang 9. Inbee Park +3 10. Sei Young Kim -1
Plus Sung Hyun Park is 11th!

So Yeon moved to No. 5 after an idle week.
In Gee needs to win; she is in danger of dropping out of Top 10 if she doesn't.

So Yeon moved to No. 5 after an idle week. In Gee needs to win; she is in danger of dropping out of Top 10 if she doesn't. So Yeon would say In Gee is in the REAL Top 10 anyway.

Anna earned 57.37 for her win; about the same as Honda Thailand.
In Gee solidifies her No. 3 ranking; Lexi, the only non-Asian in top 10, is in danger of dropping out of it.

Within the next 18 months; Ariya, In Gee, So Yeon, Ha Na, Inbee and Sung Hyun will fight for the top rankings. It's "Ariya and the Koreans" show.

Lydia 9.66 and Ariya 8.16; Lydia will stay as No. 1 until earliest after ANA. Ariya can clinch No. 1 with a win at ANA and Lydia finishes outside of top 5.
In Gee can't dethrone Lydia even if she wins both Kia and ANA; but will get her to shouting distance.
Anna can climb as high as No. 4 if she wins Kia.
