The first 78 players are out of the gate for the two-day medal qualifying. EJ Seong is -2 thru 10, Muni He is E thru 14, and Lucy Li is E thru 11. Hye Jin Choi tees off in the afternoon. The top-64 scores make it to match play rounds on Wednesday and I can't see how any of the players I just mentioned can miss that. As of now, my plan is to hit the Wednesday matches, then maybe play some twilight golf in the area later. Jenny from the ROK won it in 2006: www.usga.org/videos/2016/07/17/160714-jenny-shin-girls-jr-first-person-mp4-5039090779001.htmlJenny Shin has lost her baby fat....lol....I noticed she wasn't using her FAKE accent.

I think you said you aren't going. I think you could find cheap tix via scalpers or Craigslist...especially for Mon-Wed for people dumping their tix.....I'd go just to see the course.

I had a girlfriend a long time ago from West Orange. Her parents were members at Baltusrol. I guess I was from the wrong side of the tracks and her father didn't like me one bit (smart man). I never asked if I could play there, but he knew it would have been a big deal for me. One time I ate lunch there, but that was it. Pretty nice place, to say the least.
Of course we broke up, and she went on to bigger and better things. She and her husband once placed an ad for a full time chauffeur. I was going to apply, but driving in New York City is for the birds.

Canoe Brook was about a 30-mile trip and Baltusrol is a couple of miles south of it. I have no plans to go to the PGA, unless something radically changes. I hope Haley Moore can rebound. I enjoy watching her play. I thought she was too old for this tournament.

Good start by the two Sisters Choi and Seong. Sounds like we might be seeing a good rivalry develop. The medal round is kind of meaningless, but it would still be a good indicator of who is playing well.
Good luck in round 2, Sisters!

As long as the Good Doctor and Deadbetter don't get their claws into Choi and Seong and if they sign up with IMG....they will be fine.

Muni, Muni, Muni, you gave your fans a heart attack today...starting at #10, she did a total swan dive on her first nine holes, including three bogeys and two doubles for a 44! Fortunately, she recovered her bearings on the front nine with seven pars and two birdies, finished T-38 (75-78). It's too early to know who she's playing tomorrow. Regulation play has ended, but they are now doing a four-way playoff for the 64th spot. Top-10: T1 Hye-Jin Choi Republic of Korea -5 70 71 141 T1 Sadie Englemann Austin, Texas -5 69 72 141 T3 Eun Jeong Seong Republic of Korea -3 67 76 143 T3 Jayna Choi Collierville, Tenn. -3 73 70 143 5 Gina Kim Chapel Hill, N.C. -2 70 74 144 T6 Hailee Cooper Montgomery, Texas E 73 73 146 T6 Yuka Saso Philippines E 71 75 146 T8 Alyaa Abdulghany Newport Beach, Calif. +1 70 77 147 T8 Erica Shepherd Greenwood, Ind. +1 73 74 147 T8 Mika Liu Beverly Hills, Calif. +1 72 75 147 T8 Xinying Wang People's Republic of China +1 76 71 147 T8 Celeste Dao Canada +1 72 75 147 Others: T13 Andrea Lee Hermosa Beach, Calif. +2 71 77 148 T17 Haley Moore Escondido, Calif. +3 76 73 149 T21 Lucy Li Redwood Shores, Calif. +4 73 77 150 T49 Yujeong Son Republic of Korea +8 76 78 154 T64 Youngin Chun Cedar Park, Texas +10 76 80 156 T64 Nicole Whiston San Diego, Calif. +10 78 78 156 T64 Kelly Su Scottsdale, Ariz. +10 79 77 156 T64 Jessica Luo San Jose, Calif. +10 79 77 156 MC Gabriela Ruffels Australia +11 74 83 157 ********* UPDATE: Nicole Whiston won the playoff for the 64th spot by a birdie at #15...some reward if she has to play Hye Jin Choi tomorrow.

Yup...I also thought Muni gagged it too much to advance too.

Only one of three Jersey girls advanced to Match Play, Kelly Sim, who is probably the best girl golfer in the state and she has two more years of high school left! As of now, she's a verbal commit to Northwestern U. Her interviews after Rounds 1 & 2 of medal play:
