2 things we can count on here on ss.com 1, 3putt bashing Americans for any reason.
2, HF whining about the sisters being slighted by the media, and being unlucky in not winning. I can't take all the credit. At Rusty's Playhouse (mylpga.com)......I got the idea of Yank bashing from a hilarious member from the UK....SJX (he loves Momoko...calls her The Divine One).....his posts were so funny, I decided to take on/replica some of his humor....fanofseri also gets a kick out of the Yank bashing too. Just wait for the daggers I'll throw south of the border when your official POTUS will be either The GREAT Donald or pant suit lying Hillary. Make America Great Again!

IGC had ANA wrapped up after three holes on Saturday and then she collapsed for the remainder of the front nine. I know because I watched. There hasn't been anything lucky about Ko's wins. She is a better golfer and mentally there is no equal except for Inbee Park. There is no such thing as luck. Remember Little Jerry Barber's saying (stolen by Gary Player), the harder I practice, the luckier I get. Yup, all those hours at the range allowed Ko to will Ariya into hitting her drive into the water!

2 things we can count on here on ss.com 1, 3putt bashing Americans for any reason. 2, HF whining about the sisters being slighted by the media, and being unlucky in not winning. Firstly, let me say that it hasn't been a great two months for me watching golf, so if I pick on Lydia a little, it's because her unending success grates particularly at times like these! Now to defend myself! Yeah, I will always complain about the crappy deal the Sisters get from the press here. You can't convince me that it makes any sense to talk about how Henderson and Ko are destined for a decade long rivalry on the basis of what Henderson has accomplished so far, but meanwhile five-time winner Sei Young Kim (for instance) is never, ever given that kind of consideration. It's selective, it's baloney, there's a creepy reason behind it that I think is not hard to glean, and I'll point it out unapologetically. Meanwhile, deciding that I'm saying that the Sisters always lose because of luck is a really, uh, interesting reading of my comments. Look, I always contend that all golf wins are a combination of skill and luck. The percentages of each vary depending on the event. I've seen some truly amazing performances by players that were not good enough to win, and other mediocre ones that somehow, thanks to a lot of good fortune, ended up earning those players the trophy. That's golf. Sometimes my faves get the good fortune (Inbee in Thailand, which I have always admitted was a major gift even though I like Inbee much more than I like Ariya) and sometimes they don't. If I always claimed that my faves were unlucky when they lost, but never claimed they could be lucky when they won, you might have a point. But I don't and you don't. It's my personal opinion that, no matter what the points say, the true POY last year was two time Major winner Inbee Park. As annoyed as I was that Inbee had the official POY get away from her, however, I'm glad I got a chance to see that ridiculous, incredible finish in Hawaii, and that it was another great player who pulled it off.

I say, no matter how prepared you are, some things you don't expect. You don't expect a player who has been leading most of the day to mess up on a par 5, especially one who can practically hit a wedge for her second shot and where a grandstand makes it almost impossible to overhit the green. It takes nothing away from Ko to say she was given a very nice gift on that final hole. She did everything she could do to win, then the only player who could beat her screwed up. I would LOVE it if that were In Gee getting that gift instead (in a way she did when Amy Yang made bogey on the final hole at the US Women's Open last year, although making bogey on that tough hole is not as surprising as making bogey on the 18th at ANA).

Agreed, I totally think some wins are a mix of good fortune and skill, the good bounce, the bomb falling in, the opposition collapsing, it's all part of the game. You say LK seems to get more 'luck' than most, maybe that's just a perception thing because she's so often in the mix. In addition to her 13 W's she has 16 2nd or 3rd placings, in 79 starts that equates to a 37% top 3 finish conversion rate. She's in the mix so often not because she's lucky, it's because she's a phenomenal talent..

One must be in a position to capitalize on luck. Was it luck that allowed Sun Young Yoo to grab the ANA win when IK missed an 18 inch putt? Was it luck that Jordon Spieth won the '15 U.S. Open when DJ 3 jacked the 18th?

There's definitely an element of luck in golf. Ex: 1. Angel Cabrera hitting his tee shot deep in the woods on #18, final round of the Masters. Somehow that ball ricocheted back to the middle of the fairway. 2. Fred Couples hits his shot onto the bank of #12 at the Masters, and it somehow defies gravity and doesn't roll into the water. #3. Shanshan hits a terrible shot on #18 in China, and it ricochets not into the water but next to the pin. (And it was terrible as she turned away in disgust probably thinking it was wet.)
That said, you have to be in position to take advantage of lucky breaks, and the more talented and hard working players get themselves in that position.

I simply don't know why people keep repeating the myth that Shanshan's shot was lucky. I watched it a dozen times. It did not hit the rocks. It cleared the water, landing in the rough, one hopped to the fringe, and released to the hole. She had exactly the right distance. If it didn't hit the flagstick, it would have likely still held the green, giving her an eagle putt. It was a perfect shot, not a lucky one. Check out the 1:13 mark here: link

More like all those hours on the range so Ko could hit her 3rd into 18 to within 18" and sank it for birdie.

If there were one shot in all of golf I could take back, it would be Inky missing that d**n 1 footer to win.

1) Firstly, let me say that it hasn't been a great two months for me watching golf, so if I pick on Lydia a little, it's because her unending success grates particularly at times like these! 2) Yeah, I will always complain about the crappy deal the Sisters get from the press here. As annoyed as I was that Inbee had the official POY get away from her, however, I'm glad I got a chance to see that ridiculous, incredible finish in Hawaii, and that it was another great player who pulled it off. 1) Another example of Yank racism...but the opposite. Mericans have lost interest in the LPGA because they don't like that the Asians are dominating. Yet......you lose interest when the REAL Koreans aren't winning. The ironic thing is....I believe you're a white guy.....likely even born in the US....yet you'll only root for the REAL Koreans....no one else....why the yellow fever? Is there any Merican you'll root for who isn't of Korean descent? And why all the Ko bashing?....did Tina call you out at an event?...and if you find Ko boring....then why the fandom for Winbee...she much more stoic than Ko....as many agree too. Ko was born in Korea.....to Korean parents too. Yet....I'm sure if FAKE Minjee (born in Perth) was winning like Ko....you be fanboying/drooling over those accomplishments...so why the hypocrisy? Other examples include...FAKE Jennifer Song who was born in Ann Arbor. 2) Simple....hmmmm...what do Ko, Brooke and Ariya have in common...yup...IMG agents. Until there's a SUPER HOT looking REAL Korean who can speak a little English and starts winning multiple times....the Yank media won't cover that pro. 3) Totally agree...Winbee s/b 2015 LPGA POY...not Ko......IMO....the 2 vs. 1 major is a heavy factor....one could win the LPGA POY without winning an event.
