3putt...One person opinion.
I know it's hard for you to believe, but we don't need to be educated about all aspects of the golf game. We can draw our own opinion of who is going to be a great golfer and who are not. I believe people on this Forum is intelligent enough to make up there own minds, of who to like and not like. What's with all the negativity?

Soyeonfan
I always like So Yeon, as a person and a golfer; and for the last year I've followed her more closely than ever before. To quote Happyfan, it's a mystery that she hasn't won more.
It's another mystery why Lydia wins so much. Luck has something to do with it, but that's not the entire story.
When Lydia won ANA, she made one more putt to beat In Gee by one shot. The difference between winning and losing is paper thin. It's putts here and there and the results pile up.
Hope putts will even out eventually and we'll see more titles for So Yeon and In Gee.

Lydia's strategy is pretty straightforward: course management. Avoid sucker pins to avoid blow-up holes. She rarely cards a double or worse. It seems she has a target score in mind each day, roughly -4, which generally puts her in the top 3 at -16. Par 5's are birdie opportunities, so 2 to 3 birdies a round are the goal. Par the par 3's, and take a birdie when offered. By comparison, So Yeon always seems to have a blow up hole. Keep in mind that a double requires 2 birdies to net a par. 'Can't win when the leaders are shooting -4 or better.

Round 3 I was out of town this weekend and ended up not watching this event at all. Good thing given the ways things turned out. Congrats to Lydia on doing what we all knew she was going to do, win the event. I agree with those who find Lydia boring. She is soooo dull. Nothing phases her, she never seems to have any kinds of setbacks (losing a Major in a playoff is what qualifies as a setback in her world). Even she doesn't seem too interested in what's going on. She certainly deserves her success, but it's really sucking all the fun out of the LPGA for me. I'll never understand why someone wants to have one dominant player in a league. With Inbee sidelined, there is frankly no one who can take it to Lydia on a regular basis. So when she gets into the lead, it's snoozeville. And especially the way she plays, it ends up being just four hours of waiting for the inevitable. But since I don't really care about Ko, I'll just mention that this was a terrible week for the Sisters! Yes, this is not the kind of course that they excel on, but I'm surprised that none of them was able to cash in with a top ten (except Yoo; congrats to her, but she is struggling mightily this year otherwise). And this was a field with just about every top Korean player in the field. In Gee had her worst event of the year, So Yeon apparently managed a triple bogey on this easy course. NYC missed the cut, Sei Young was nowheresville. Yeesh! So who goes into the US Women's Open with any kind of momentum? Well, In Gee does seem to find it occasionally (like at Meijer), so I think if you get her on the right kind of course, she has the chance to shine. And she was playing worse in American events last year at this time when she suddenly won in Pennsylvania, so I think she will be more prepared to excel this year than last. Amy and So Yeon seem to rise to the occasion in Majors. Sei Young is a big threat if she isn't getting in her own way. Is Bo Mee Lee playing the Open? If so, I think she really has a chance to surprise. And Sung Hyun Park is quietly having a great year in Korea, although she's been a bit off the past month. Keep fighting, Sisters! There's too much talent there. Sooner or later it will come through in a big way.

'Don't understand how people can consider Lydia boring. She smiles on the course, and has a great demeanor. She yucks it up with her fellow players. What is she supposed to do? Curse and throw clubs? Frown, and avoid contact with others? She has a great short game, so I find it fun to watch her get up and down when she misses the green. She's generally controlled off the tee. Do you prefer players that sling the ball into the trees?

Yup....Ko has the Mannika strategy....let your opponents gag come home on the back 9 on Sunday. Although....it all too often cost Mannika some wins....especially the majors when everyone thought she'd close it out on Sundays. I also thought Mannika was a good but not great putter.....how often did we see her miss critical putts...and if she had a 5-6 ft putt on 18...even though she had a 3 shot lead for the win on the 72nd hole...Annika often missed that putt. It's no surprise I like the eye candy gals who have great personalities....although she doesn't fit that category....Mannika was my fav player in her days...now I can't really stand her in retirement and hate when she's commentating on a telecast. But I think Ko plays too conservative at times too. I wonder what that lie on 18 was like yesterday for both Sandra and Ko to gag pull it into the water...ya it was a side hill lie that has a draw tendency...but both should have taken that into account......fire Jason.....lol......TV never captures what kind of lie one has.....ya need to be standing near the pro to really appreciate the slope.

1) I agree with those who find Lydia boring. She is soooo dull. Nothing phases her, ............. but it's really sucking all the fun out of the LPGA for me. 2) So when she gets into the lead, it's snoozeville. And especially the way she plays, it ends up being just four hours of waiting for the inevitable. 1) Winbee played a similar game.....but I don't believe I ever saw you write how Winbee was boring us to death with multiple wins, including 3 majors in 2013. Remember Evian years ago....when Winbee was draining everything....was it boring...yup....but it was also BRILLIANT watching her sink everything too. IMO...Winbee is far more boring than Ko...it's not even close...Winbee = VANILLA....though I really do like vanilla ice cream.....lol. Ya gotta appreciate the skill of a golfer when nothing phases them....it really is a skill that few have...one of the most frustrating things to do is 3 jacking...as I've said before...at the 2012 CN CWO....I saw Winbee 3 putt....she then walked up to the ropes...maybe 7 feet from me.....I looked at her face....there was no sign of anger....NONE....NA DA....that is pure SKILL. I hate 3 jacking.....especially if there's money on the line or 3 jacking and taking 4 to get down from 20 yards....I use to smoke and I literally was so mad....my cigarette was flaming by the next tee block....lol.....I had a hard time scoring for 2 months after quitting smoking because every time I hit a lousy shot...I couldn't chomp on a smoke to settle me down and I was too amp'd up. But I am so happy I no longer smoke those cancer sticks...March 2012 was my last smoke. 2) Ya it was snoozeville...but ya gotta appreciate that Ko took it to Pressel....shooting -4 on the front 9 and never letting Morgan gain any ground...and then Morgan gagged on the back 9....and we need not worry about a Ko win ......cause there were only low level pros on top of the leader board trying to unsuccessfully chase Lydia down.

I want Ko to win...unless it's another of my really top tier fav's like the LOVELY HYP, GIMMEE, Dumbo, Belen, Aza, Gulbis, etc.

She can perform well on many different course setups, unlike boomers that plays well on specific courses.

Of the very dominant players the LPGA has had in recent years I think Lorena was the most entertaining. Annika was my first favorite (and the reason I started following the LPGA), but she didn't show a lot on the course. While I really admired InBee, I did think she was dry as dust to watch. I find Lydia a little more interesting, but I think having Ariya and Brooke challenge her recently makes for much better tournaments. And if InGee can live up to 18majors' expectations, that would be a good thing
